What's better, triple monitors or single TV
_Dredd replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, I use softTH I believe so, I need to double check shortly this evening. Are you saying that with "keep composition" enabled, then when I enable "disable aero theme" in game settings this will fix the issue with clicking buttons on the popup menu ? Or based on helios issues? -
What's better, triple monitors or single TV
_Dredd replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have Aero enabled and in game settings don't have "disable aero" option ticked. I didn't think of the local and non local setting, I'll try setting the dash monitor as non local and see if that works better. If I enable the "disable aero theme" in game settings I cant exit a mission or instant action mission as it doesnt let me click the exit button on popup menu, I have to ctrl-alt-del and logoff to shut down the game and desktop then log back on. Helios is exporting and i see the gauges and HSI working, though it crawls along and isnt smooth as if the update interval is once every 3secs or something and it looks very laggy and delayed on the gauge displays. "JG" , would you be able to show your windows desktop config setup and helios setup profile/configs? Maybe it's the way I have it setup and working, as I have the left (P) monitor as primary and the dash (L) monitor configured in windows monitor setup under the center (L) monitor. -

What resolution are you running those screens at? And is that a single spanned viewport or left, right, centre viewport? I'm running PLP and centre lowere screen with MFD exports. I can't run Helios at the same time, as helios output lags for some reason and becomes pointless for me :( Maybe this is something to do with using SoftTH. My avg fps are 25-35, if I could somehow improve that I'd be over the moon; but I think I can't as the video card VRAM is maxed out(buffer). Using 7970 3GB and 3930k @ 4.6ghz here. -
Same, when using max magnificationon on TGP is when ths occurs for me.

Noticed this last night with the latest build in A-10C when fully zoomed in on TGP. I run in fullscreen mode, and havent seen this happen before. Airfield fencelines are also playing up with textures; something has changed in the new build. Please fix.

I'm running latest patches and suddenly noticed that MSAA appears to behave as nonmutli-sampled AA now. Mutlisampling seems to be removed altogether? The fences around airfields are terrible and appear to flicker as dot sprites; or the textures have been changed? I'm also noticing buildings go black when the TGP is zoomed in.

Nicely done Kuky! :joystick: Are you using Eyefinity or SoftTH? Im running 24P, 27L, 24P, 23L bottom center, and it struggles for 17-25 fps even with options turned off. Last night I instead tried 1680x1050 rather than native 1900x1200 and with all maxed settings except MSAAx4, I get a more stable 25-30fps. Much better when the mission action starts and fires and smuldering wrecks litter the map. Can you post your graphics.cfg or mod list to try out?

Check PM , thanks.

Hi, Could a moderator or forum admin assist me with this ticket I submitted back on 22/08/12 Ticket ID: 15959 :helpsmilie:

After the testing I did alt-tab . and ctrl-alt del out it wasn't that long for me; may 10secs; to make dcs active and re-render everything? Sata3 SSD's though. Though I agree; yes it does take longer than 1.2.0. However I don't see this as an issue with Fullscreen mode. Other games do similar where it takes time for the re-active window to load everything again from memory. I have a suspicion 1.2.1 has an application window issue; which accounts for the mouse cursor problem and strange fps drop in external view when in window mode. (could be wrong ! :D )

Triple buffering kills TrackIR 5.x as well with CCC

Peter, I can't find if you may have mentioned this in another post; but have you found that specific arrangements kill more GPU resources. For example my post above' I haven't tried yet(I should try when I get time) whether I'd get any more performance having the bottom monitor positioned elsewhere.

I tried similar with Helios, and Helios grinded to a halt! Literally. It was so slow I didn't worry about it; and just output MFCD's only. That's with 4s update(lowest) in Helios; and sim FPS running 17-24fps. In game res set to: 4624x3000 My Lua: For your settings, follow PeterP's guide to the letter! Start fresh with SoftTH's created cfg file; then load into config tool; there it knows your monitor arrangement. You shall be confused! :D But as Peter said; read the readme, and then read it again, and read his guide again and again. Trial and error = solutions!

OK have just been playing same instant action mission for an hour. SoftTH Enabled Same settings all maxed except: Mirrors: Off HDR: off MSAA x2 Cockpit Shadows: Off Vsync: Off Tree Shadows: Off TSAA: Off Resolution: 4624x3000 4 screens, with MFCD output. FPS: 17-24 Max was around 31-35 looking up and externals. Stutter is not really obvious at all(minimal with vsync off); yet the fps are low so that can be seen, but it was playable. Flight in cockpit was smooth. Campaign mission I haven't tried yet, Im sure sure it will crawl! to a halt :) My SoftTH: My Lua(yes I haven't renamed default description in file) :

OK I just went through some testing on 12.6 ATI drivers and new updates. Full screen mode runs better than windowed. This was opposite in 1.2.0 ? System specs i7 3930k @ 4.6 Intel 520 SSD single drive ASUS 7970 DELL 27" 1920x1200 Default 12.6 ATI drivers settings. graphics.cfg 120fps. 1 monitor, 1920x1200 All settings maxed, mirrors on, MSAA 4x. HDR normal. Clutter/bushes 0m Trees 9000m Preload 150000m Test on Instant Action; Hard - Russian Lakes Spring. TrackIR disabled(made no impact) ALT/HDG mode on, TGP on. vsync disabled External view in windowed mode, when viewing the plane level on horizon up and down, the fps goes from >60 drop to 30fps flat. 30fps limiter enabled somewhere? as per in pit? odd. With Full screen mode it doesn't, and moves from 50-61, to >100 looking straight up. with vsync turned off , stutter was less noticeable also, though it was still there but not really that bad. Vsync on, it was terrible. Pit fps was 27-31 with TGP on. Also in windows aero mode and windows basic mode, there was no difference, and in-game disable aero mode with windows aero enabled made no difference. Here's the other weird thing; I swear last night I saw orange gun flame from the GAU. But now I dont as if it sometimes only works. Maybe this is firing from a certain AOA?? really weird.

I'm using 1 camera view. :( I'm going to revert back to 12.6 CCC drivers and see what happens. Seems 12.8 has caused issues with many games and systems. Knock on wood! :noexpression:

You're using large resolutions or multi-screens though right ? Im on ATI. (ASUS 7970). Rig is: i7 3930k @ 4.6 Intel 520 SSD RAID3 16GB Corsair Vengeance mem Using 3 and 4 screens between 4616x1920(3 screens), and with 4616x3000(4 screens) I would get 17-21fps with stutter along the terrain visuals on side screens. With HDR off; I got 21-30, with smoother terrain visuals and less noticeable stutter. My first gut feeling was an issue with resolving HDR (sun) with multiscreen management. HDR defintely looks more enhanced with glare and covering multi-monitors I'll do some more testing tonight. In CCC I have everything on default settings. Vsync off, unless application specifies Triple buffering off Tessellation: Application controlled I need to test on the single 27" 1920x1200 screen which Im sure will run fine everything maxed out. I played with all settings, low to high; and in the end HDR was the big killer when running fullscreen mode. I usually use Cold Colors, havent tried other settings. I also need to try previous ATI driver verions(current 12.8 ); no -one has really mentioned what ver they are using. I don't have any real loading issues; everything is similar to before; though cockpit start preload is definitely noticeable. Feel free to PM me to go through stuff if needed.

In 1.2.0 I was able to ESC during flight; and press 'Enter' to immediately QUIT the instant action mission or similar. Now with the new interface when pressing ESC; I can't do this and am forced to mouse click the option. Is anyone else experiencing this? I run in Fullscreen mode with multiple screen with SoftTH for Bezel correction; and the new ESC interface render off my main screen.

Cursor changes in arrow Mouse in Cocpit DCSW 1.2.1
_Dredd replied to Simas's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
Confirmed this problem also last night. In Fullscreen mode, no cockpit buttons or switches can be clicked. More testing later tonight. It looks like an aero/windowed/fullscreen issue to me. -
Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
_Dredd replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Hi Tommy, I manged to get it working with that monitor arrangement and bezel correction, though I had to raise the center monitor to align the dash and horizon. Omly issue is now with mfcd's on top of bottom monitor that they game also renders to that bottom monitor to make up the 1920 height. If I could only tell the sim to not render that bottom half somehow if at all possible. With center monitor as primary everything worked fine with softth, but I had to use fullscreen mode for softth to work. I'll have to tinker some more as I think nothing is quite right as the frame rate suffers at 21-27fps now with quite a few features turned off, and the left/right screens are suffering stuttering. But the view sure is sweet. Reading somemore I need to see if it's possible to run softth in window mode where fps are much better. Aero modde seems to switch off also even though my options haven't requested too (switches to basic mode on game load) so I need to look at that further. -
Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
_Dredd replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
Pulling my hair out Hoping I could get some assistance here..:helpsmilie: Im running 4 monitors(left portrait 24", center landscape 27", right portrait 24", bottom 23") all 1920x1200 except for the bottom monitor which is 1920x1080. I've got three screens running, but the problem is that the render alignment is out, and I've tried to adjust the bezels with SoftTH and try to overlap the screens , but nothing seems to work. After spending 3hrs trying different things I thought I better seek some help. One problem I had was with the center 27" set as primary, the screen would be centered on the right bezel, ignoring the left screen, so in the end setting the left screen to primary solved this; but the problem still lies with bezel adjustments and alignment. Here's some screens. If it helps to attach the .lua files also let me know. -
I got the same ridiculous price ranges when enquiring in Perth for a laser cut job. I've already made an Akers Barnes pit which cost me less than $100 in MDF and took a day to cut out etc, so I'm thinking of modifying that in the meantime; ie front dash and few mods.

Just recently upgraded my car headunit which has the Time Alignment feature. The sound difference is amazing; and the sound stage is more dynamic with a singer's voice and midbass defined at the front. I'm curious, can we apply something similar to the PC audio speakers and DCS? Im not too experienced with audio technicalties, but am all ears to know how the audio experience could be improved more. Im currently running a 5.1 system and Audigy SC, where not all speaker are evenly spaced, so I need to adjust the sound levels(balance cheat) to get a good surround sound spacing. :pilotfly:

I assume this would apply also to downsampling? I'm downsampling my 27" DELL to 2560x1440; but the GUI and RECVR FLY buttons, etc are off the screen , which is a real PITA. Cheers!

Fantastic work! :) Im getting a corrupt file warning with the darker version ?
