Garrett TFE 731 I was assigned an engine to work on today. Its a beast of a motor. The Garrett TFE731. Now Honeywell TFE731. Its the only one we have a school. It was donated by NASA about 10 years ago from use as an experimental noise reduction test bed. As such, its filled with holes, wires, and other random sensors for the run stand. Top that off. Its not an documented engine. Its going to be a real challenge to tear it down and put it back together again. All the paper work I have for it doesn't match the exact motor I have. I mean its the same. But off. Hard to explain without way more pictures that I'm too busy to take. I do have a type certificate and that will get me started.

I am a student at Blackhawk Technical College in the Aviation Maintenance Technician program. My school has decided in its best interest to close the AMT program for good. My class with be the last to go through the program until it is shut down. I have 3 more semesters to go. I plan to update this thread with what I'm learning and how its going as a student in a complicated program. A over look of the piston engines shop. A random picture in the hangar. I hope people enjoy this thread. It will be last of the program that started in the 1950s.

No. I'll won't tear apart a perfectly good working stick. It will get shelved. I can't afford my old TM back. I wish I could.

I am looking to buy a TM Cougar or Warthog stick that is does not have a working base. I would like to have it for a project I am working on. So if anyone has a dead Cougar the are looking to sell please contact me with information. I am planning on doing the mod that PeterP has done with his Cougar. Only I plane to use a Leo Bodnar board to power it. To be clear. I am looking for a TM Cougar or Warthog stick that does not need a working base. As such I'm looking to pay for a non working stick. If you have one that works, but has really bad pots, I will negotiate as it will save some time in the long run. Any other 2 stage joystick I will consider. (x52/G940) Thank you.

I am having some issues with the design of my new controller. I am trying to use an old ps3 joystick as a hat on my controller. I can't seem to wrap my mind around getting the 4 pin pots to work on a Leo board that only has 3 pins. Any help is appreciated.

I used a very basic rule of 10kps upload per client. I used to host a while back and with only 200kbs upload I was able to handle 15 clients with no one reporting any lag. My current isp only has 40kbs upload and was hosting 4 players last night we no lag.

I think i know what your saying. I drew a line threw the button in the drawings. This is what it is like when the buttons are pressed and the circuit is closed. I did that just to help me see where the current was flowing. when the button is not pressed, it wont be connected. Is that what your asking?

Im an aircraft mechanic. Not saying that I wont have troubles. Just saying I have some background to help. And a full shop of tools. Its a very impressive project and I want to try. Im not done building my collective yet. That has been in the works for over 2 months. But when its done, I'll need something to do.

very nice. Any thoughts on trying to use 1 FFB to control the 2 motors in sync? I was thinking of buying a FFB just for playing blackshark. But now maybe a new project is in order. edit. What I'm asking is can I buy an older gameport FFB and try to wire the usb one to send commands to both sets of motor. The gameport ones I can get for dirt cheap.

I flipped and rotated your photo. Just to make it easier to look at. If the color lines don't match where they should follow to let me know. I had a hard time tracing them in paint. On this board the red wire was the common. what youll have to do is place a diode between your switch the red wire. The black end of the diode will have to face the wire. Take a close look at your PBC and you will see the diodes have a black tip. You will have to solder them on. You can reuse the ones from the PCB if you desolderer them off. I recommend you do this for everyone of your switches. The place a diode on the common for each of them. I'm only guessing on buttons 1-5 as I have not seen how the wiring went through the joystick. You will need to open up the flight stick and see how Logitech placed its diodes. Were there any diodes inside? My old extreme 3d had lots in the stick. You will have to map them out. You will need to match what they did in order for it to work properly. I hope this helps. EDIT 2nd picture for fun
