  1. Setting the "Textures" options to "High" and "Res. Of Cockpit Displays" to "1024 every frame" should make everything pretty sharp in the cockpit. You can also set the "MSAA" setting to as high as you would like, each step up will make everything even more sharp at the expense of computer performance. Hope this helps.
  2. Ah yes I see how that would be a lot of help. Unfortunately, I looked around some more, still nothing. You might just have to talk them through it or translate the manual(big task!). I hope everything works out.
  3. I don't think so, unfortunately. There is mostly just English and a few other European languages. It would be great if ED could have everything translated to every language, but I'm not sure it will happen anytime soon. If you need, 日本語が少し分かっています、I've been studying it for a little while if you need help with something.
  4. Oh the wait is near torturous, can't wait to fly!
  5. As said above, you will most likely need more RAM, which is usually an easy upgrade. Also, your graphics card is quite old, but it could possibly run it. You can try downloading DCS World for free by clicking . It comes with a free Su-25T and Tf-51, both are very fun to use. I would recommend trying to fly one of these, and if your system can handle it, then you should be fine running Black Shark. EDIT: Also, I couldn't find it in your list of specs, you need a 64-bit operating system. You can find this by: -Clicking the start button(lower left windows button) -Select "Control Panel" -Select "System and Security" -Select "System" In the "System" section, look for "system type:" and that will tell you if you have 32 bit or 64 bit.
  6. Wow looks awesome! As an upcoming web dev/designer I hope I can get that good at building sites!
  7. I always thought planes where cool, but it was the Ace Combat series that really got me into planes. After spending tons of time with the series, I got into DCS and later flew a real plane! While DCS doesn't have the crazy flying aircraft carriers or flying through the barrel of mile long super weapons(btw please add those to DCS please), learning about how real aircraft work and training to be efficient with combat systems is very fun.
  8. One could probably memorize the start-up procedure in the sim then do it in real life, but I think that's as far as it goes. I remember a few years ago when I piloted a plane for the first time. I had been playing with A-10C and FC for quite a while, so I thought I would get the hang of it quick...nope. Start-up was the easiest part, just flick a few switches, nothing too different from the sim. Once you get in the air, it's a whole new story. Just the feeling of flight, being in control of a real aircraft, your body turning with it, and the weight of the stick is incredible, and something that a sim like this can't prepare you for in my opinion. Unlike in DCS, where I'm concentrated and can maneuver the plane quite well, I was stunned and could barely think of how to fly the aircraft. So, I think people could easily memorize the switches, but once they get into the air for the first time they wouldn't know what to do. Reading above, it seems winz and I had similar feeling during our first flight
  9. If you have DCS World installed, download the A-10C module here, and install it into DCS World. When it asks you for your CD key, put in the one that came with your boxed version. (I believe this is how it works)
  10. Having fun with 1.2.8 and some awesome new skins! - Edit:Here are the skins in these pics: Su-27 Strigon and F-15C Idolm@ster
  11. I have the X-52 pro, it's a pretty good stick. I play A-10C, P-51. and FC3, and it can take on all of those with relative ease, it has so many hats/buttons that you could cram everything in it. Although it's a really good stick, there are a few shortcomings with it: -In DCS I've found the screen on the throttle is pretty much useless. I know there are some functions for FSX, and I'm sure people have programmed some things for it, but it's really not needed in my opinion. -Anything that isn't a button/hat doesn't function great. This is a problem I think a lot of people have, the sliders on the throttle give off jittery, inaccurate inputs, so don't plan on using for much. This also applies to the small thumb stick that emulates the mouse, it breaks pretty early in the sticks' life, I had to set the deadzones for it to max within a few months of use. I think they recently released the X-55 which looks like it might have addressed these problems, but I haven't used it. Overall, the X-52 is really great, even though the negatives seem bad, the rest of the stick works great, it's lasted me a few years now and still going strong.
  12. Thanks for all the news, I hope everything works out for you guys!
  13. Yeah you'll need a program to turn a .dds to a .bmp, I don't know any specifically but I know they exist. Then there's this GIMP plug-in to turn back the .bmp to a .dds(Use compression BC3/DXT5). Good luck if you decide to do it.
  14. That would be awesome, she's one of my favorites. I had planned to do one, but like I said I'm a bit busy now.
  15. Good job:thumbup:. Right now I'm a bit loaded with other things to be making skins, but if there's enough demand I could do it, or if someone wants a small individual thing I could see what I could do.
  16. That was a fun watch, and good job handling it so well. I remember my first time going up in a plane like that, threw up even before we started doing spins!
  17. F-22 was going to be made by a third party, not the normal ED team. I *think* the third party team said that it's not canceled, but it's on the back-burner while they work on other aircraft in FSX(that might have been another team though, so need someone to confirm). At most, the aircraft won't be much more advanced than an FC3 aircraft. All the classified info means there's no way they could make a near identical simulation like A-10C.
  18. TVs and monitors are generally the same thing, they both are used to display images from a connected device. Every display has certain specs, and TVs tend to lean towards having more in some areas, and monitors in others. Here's a general guide to help. Size: Generally, a TV is going to be bigger than a monitor at the same price. Inputs: How you plug in your device, most displays have multiple inputs. A TV usually has more inputs and more types than a monitor. For example my monitor has an HDMI, VGA, and DVI port(3 total). My TV has 2 HDMI, DVI, VGA, 2 sets of RCA ports(6 total). Resolution: The number of pixels on the screen. Monitors generally lean towards, or at least used to lean towards, having a higher res than TVs. However right now we're kind of stuck at 1080p for everything. Pixel Density: Correlates to screen size and resolution, how tight the pixels are packed together. The closer/smaller they are, the sharper the image. Monitors usually win in this area since they have the same or higher resolution while being smaller. Response time: how fast a pixel can change colors. Slow response time can make fast moving objects look weird and blurry. Monitors tend to win in this category. Refresh Rate: How many 'pictures' a display can...display per second. For example if your computer can output DCS at 100 fps, if you have a 60hz display it can only display 60 if the 100 frames. Monitors tend to have more options for higher refresh rates.
  19. Wow, great site! I've started building sites 2 months ago, and gotta say really like the design of yours. Also the pictures are sweet!
  20. Maybe it was something more simple, like a Windows update? It will auto-reboot your system if you forget to extend the time on it.
  21. Wow that was so awesome to watch, thanks for sharing!
  22. It all pays off in the end, like other people said a good thing to do is learn one thing at a time. Think of one thing you want to do, maybe like use mavericks or laser guided bombs, then learn the best you can, there are plenty of resources here and on Youtube. Just keep at it and you can be a super awesome ace that will shoot down all the people discouraging you here :P Also these can make learning more fun
  23. Good work man, these are really good.
  24. Wow what great news! I can't wait to be flying DCS with a rift.
