  1. Hehe, I bet it is, but I'm getting paranoid of popping over those low ridgelines at 260 with a few of your manpads lurking on the other side. I'm on to three tonite, my only sugesstion in 1 & 2 would be to possibly throw in some random enemy heli appearences--maybe that's coming, and maybe on 1 some scenario brings those hinds into the picture.UPDATE: I see you read my mind in 3! best one yet! The missions are great for my level, TY again.
  2. You got that right. I just wish we could get ED quality FMs and low level terrain in F4. It's a cryin shame.
  3. I agree. The hind and the apache. Cmon ED, at 50 a module maybe it's time to bump up the staff and go for it in 09!
  4. Yeah who could justfiy the price of dinner for four in return for a fantastic simulation? I loved that article, and spent an hour watching youtubes of the Karkov 1942 tank sim, which has spectacular graphics, though no MP. 2 great tank sims in 08----sadly impressive compared to the dearth of combat flight sim releases, DCS BS excepted. Can you believe we have no modern ww1 study sim? The potenial there is huge. Congratualtions to the ED team.
  5. This is a classic arguement in many sims. No one can agree because we are all at different rez etc. On some systems objects do indeed stand out. On others they do not. I play at 2560x1600 on a 30", and am ashamed to admit I still often use labels--my hotas are mapped to quickly turn them on and off. Objects are not easy to spot on my screen, and it's lazer sharp with aa af etc. What would be great would be a slider in the settings which effects how enemy objects stand out. Then we could all tweak it to our needs. That said I'm learned to use recon and the datalink with wingman to help in this regard.
  6. Ian: TY very much, I'm gonna try em tonite. Update: spent quite a bit of time on 1 tonite--enjoyed it very much. Love the rising sun and your choice of terrain. I did get a "you got their reinforcements" message along with the intial "crossing frontline". Update 2: mission 2 was also very cool. I accidentally told my wingie to jettison weapons, so I had to take out one last Bmp hidden in the trees with rockets in a constrained enviroment, hehe. The civilian convoy took a few hits before I calmed the waters. Nice surprise on the way home too. Looking forward to the remaining versions. all the best,
  7. You can take off from nearly any dirt, but not like normal. If you pull the collective hard up it will explode. If you inch up, hold a sec, inch higher, you will break the wheels loose and up you go.
  8. Most important gauge for me is the VVI or rate of climb/descent on the upper left. If I'm on the TV/abris view I watch the alt on the abris. You save yourself alot of vortex crashes paying attention to that.
  9. You sir, are a good man.
  10. Just open them in the editor and change the Ka-50 from client to player--add wingman if desired.
  11. Limit on DLs reached--can anyone put this up where we can get it? TY for the mod boomshekah
  12. One other small note on tanks: Leopards and Abrams always take two missles. I know they are tough. But an ass shot should disable them, right? One thing that's really well done is the wreakage, tracks half off, hatches open etc.
  13. Had some fun with hamyshki--nice weather. For sp you might add some enemy heli activity, but I enjoyed patrolling up the road. Then I tried Makho. Those leopards, I hate them becasue it always takes two shots, regardless of angle. Good loadout because they need bridges.. One column in the real version is up stalled on a hillside---at least when I played it. I like your locations and look forward to your missions in the future.
  14. It's a sick feeling, isn't it. You're squinting at the TV, locking some big monster up, and you notice--hey it's pointing right at me. Then that big POOF in black and white. uhoh.
  15. Hey don't get me wrong, I'm loving the sim. One small point that I notice farily often is entire columns blocked by a single wreak. In RL it would be off the road, one way or the other, right? Maybe someday we can get a little AI road clearing..... On the same note, tonite I played a mission with a bridge over a very small mountain river, a big creek really. I took out the bridge, and that was it for a whole column of leopards. In RL they'd have a temp bridge over those creeks in no time, right? It might be simple as a tweak like and option for "on road" vehicles--go off road when blocked. Small thing, but it would keep those columns advancing.
  16. Well it's got some dumb grnd capability as I remember from LO, but point taken. How about the su-30KI? single seat multi-role? To bad indonesia pulled out of that order. hehe, i did get sort of competent online with LO. Again you have me sir, I was shocked at how many mig-29s were exported. Anyway, my point is just that multirole variants with a single cockpit would enhance game play the most, becasue there are so many mission scenarios possible.
  17. I'm sure it's prolly outside the patch, but I'll chime in about the briefing issue. For me at 2560x1600 the briefing map is obscure and quite small. No way to pour over terrain and examine the map in detail, unless I'm really missing something. A zoom feature and full topo relief on the briefing maps would add some realism, and make things easier. Some scalablity for different resoultions in the briefing would be nice too. That said, the stability of the first release and the many features are impressive.
  18. It's a pretty darn good list. To my mind the su-27 and the f-16 would be most impressive for the gaming experience---simply because both are in wide use today and both are dual role. The warthog is understandable, since ED has so much experience in modeling this aircraft. The AH-64 would be fabulous. The F-15 C I'm not so excited about, because it's single role, and the mig-29 is just not that widely used(though more so than the ka-50, hehe) I agree a good FA/18 would be nice--far more interesting than the F15c. It's dual role, and carrier opps are always interesting. I think the interest in well done sims is underestimated, and I hope ED pushes ahead full speed before we all die of old age. One thing for sure: DCS BS is a great release.
  19. This is how the real KA-50 stick behaves. Trim holds the stick wherever you have it. Reset trim brings you back. FF2 I find, is finicky about trim, very touchy, but you can really fly the thing.
  20. The buzzing wingman annoyed me from early on--I mapped pincer right to my ch throttle, that keeps him well away. PS "Missions and campaigns made in version 1.00 will work in 1.01. __________________ Matt Wagner Producer, TFC/Eagle Dynamics" Thank you Matt for clarifying this.
  21. I've seen both near hits and BOOM. When you see the wreakage falling you know you got him. Apaches seem to be tougher.
  22. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=36223 another post somewhere mentioned an ongoing patch. What surprised me was EB's advice in the thread above. It would be nice to get some clarification in regard to missions. The sim plays great now, I agree.
  23. Thanks for checking in on this EB. I was kinda surprised, since with most sims even a heavy patch will play previous missions. If what you say proves correct, then the big campaign might not work with the patch. I only comment because it's so great guys are starting to get into making missions and maybe campaigns and I fear the "hold off" may put them off a bit. I think everybody understands the patch is in development and you can't promise stuff for sure, but on this point it would be nice to hear more on how those working on it think it may effect the missions we have now. It may be some small stuff won't work as before, or they could be unplayable---quite a big range. Thanks for your excellent moderation and support in the forum.
  24. First, thank you for the awesome mission. It really does teach alot about flying at high altitude. For a single player, it's wild hard, many many sams and some wicked hull down tanks facing the second farp. I haven't even got to the highly populated stronghold, hehe. I did find myself commenting----how did that wheeled or tracked sam unit get into position at a few of those wild spots you have them in? I guess they could have been airlifted by chopper, hehe. In that case it might be fun to have a few CH-47s on supply duty. That evil Flecther is one connected guy! Anyway, great effort. I spent several hours playing last nite.
  25. I right clicked, saved target---NP. Thank you Mbot!
