  1. Why do I have to think of a bucket of cold water suddenly.... Describe DCS in one word: Eventually. (I do support the wish though)
  2. I didn't notice any change or problem here. Which FFB device are you using? Do you use any 3rd party effects software? (like TelemFFB for the Rhino) edit: I have to correct myself. Just tried it again and compared to the P-47. Indeed the buffet is a pretty high frequency (compared to the P47, though I admittedly can’t tell if it was different before). Guns effects I don’t get in either of both without using the 3rd party effects software though. When I use it, the effect is the same as always. (My bigger gripe with the stall buffet is that it comes too early. Obviously I have no reference other than other Warbirds in DCS, but in comparison to the P-47 it is quite clear (same speed, no payload). But that is besides the point.)
  3. I maybe mistaken, but I think you need at least an uptodate version of DX12 to support frame generation. DCS won't be developed for DX12 since it will be making the jump from DX11 to Vulkan. So bottomline - Vulkan is in developement anyway and until its done, there will be no upgraded feature support (for GFX). At least this is my understanding. Please correct me, if I got something wrong.
  4. Do you know how memory allocation and reservation works? If you e.g. have 32 GB of physical RAM, Windows will block a chunk of that for its own purposes (just reserve, not necessarily use all at a given time), so will other processes, that may run on top. How much varies and depends on the configuration of windows amongst others. So there isn't even 32 GB accessible for a game in the first place. So by virtue of a telemetry software like Afterburner or the like, it will only show how much RAM the game is using has/reserved at the time. It won't tell you if it can't access more or doesn't need more. @Dragon1-1 RAM (quantity) can only be a bottleneck for FPS, but never a boost. Say you can reach 100 fps with your GPU/CPU if not choked by storage access or other bottlenecks, no amount of RAM will give you a single additional FPS. If how ever you run out of RAM and the application needs to swap around data and load additional data from disk, that will create a lot of CPU overhead and latency that may manifest as stutters and freezes. (problem is much lighter with SSD but still present).
  5. I didn't understand that the interactive checklists are supposed to substitute classic training missions, but to supplement them and support the complexity of systems.
  6. That's what I understood. Should be interactive Checklists.
  7. Oh, and obviously deactivate Cortana, Recall and all other telemetry ans spyware crap…..
  8. You have to adjust some settings in W11 to have it run smoothly, I don’t remember all from the top of my head but there will be others to help out and there are probably a ton of youtube videos on the matter. And I would strongly suggest disabling the power service to get rid of core parking and other shenanigans. Make sure to make an exception for Defender for your games and savegames folder. De-activate all game „enhancements“ that windows offers…. There is no principle problem with W11 and DCS performance, but it can be a bit tedious to make it behave.
  10. Ram doesn’t give you a „performance boost“ in the sense of higher fps or something. It doesn‘t affect max or average fps at all. However, if your Ram becomes a bottleneck you WILL notice it by occasional stutters or even freezes when assets are loaded from hard storage instead of memory. And DCS is certainly able to exhaust 16 Gigs easily, depending on what you’re doing.
  11. "It's not the plane, it's the pilot!" (Rooster) I'd rather sit in the Fulcrum though, if I had to choose....
  12. Absolutely, there is massive variance in quality amongst modules. Still a performance hit though. But it doesn't bother me to fly without mirrors. Especially if they can be folded away or have nice stand-in's instead of a black void.
  13. You really don’t get it, do you? Nobody suggests that Linux is the end-all-be-all solution just yet. But things are improving and some mighty players (Steam) are pushing it. Eventually, hopefully it will become a viable alternative to windows. And that’s a good thing, because windows SUCKS (nowadays).
  14. Well, I could imagine it depends a little on available runway length. When you don’t NEED that much braking action, it certainly less headache to leave it alone.
  15. Maybe I should read a manual every now and then….
  16. You can turn it off? I was only aware of high gain/low gain.... whereas low gain should be the default unless high gain is positively needed.
  17. Our company is about to transition the Frontend Workplaces to Linux. Only thing that kept us back for a while was our ERP, but this being switched now to a server/browser solution. everything else like office solutions, e-mail, Internet runs natively on linux anyway. Most users won't even notice a difference. PC Gaming and Office are really the only places, Linux doesn't have the bigger market share, and most office workplaces could be swapped easily to Linux. In the past there wasn't much incentive to switch. Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 10 (already less so) where relatively inoffensive and Linux (admittedly) was cumbersome. But now. Windows becomes increasingly annoying and intrusive with each update. MS becomes greedy with the licences and Linux becomes easier and easier to handle and to use. I can't predict the speed of change. But change is happening. MS wouldn't be the first "unsinkable ship" that went keel up.
  18. I stand corrected then. The ground physics of the DCS F1 is definitely delicate.
  19. Nvidia is past its prime as well if you ask me (from a consumer/gamer point of view). Yes, in absolute terms they still have the crown for peak performance. But all things consideres the leap from 4090 to 5090 is pretty weak (all things mean, next to performance, price, driver quality, features, efficiency). More and more people are fed up with this BS and are eying towards AMD (and maybe even Intel in the future). Diametrically to Nvidia they improved their drivers instead of breaking them. Nvidia made it more than clear, that gaming, even though it made them what they are, is merely an afterthought by now. And users took note and didn't like it.
  20. I would go so far to say, you shouldn't use the brakes at all until slowed down considerably by aero braking and chute. (Which I believe is RL practice too, to save the weak brakes from wear and overheating).
  21. I don't like high roll forces either. Even if the objective force is the same in all directions, laws of physics (leverage) and anatomy results in subjectively much higher forces in roll. That's why I applied a flatter force gradient in my (fixed wing) default profile for my Rhino. That said, elaborate FFB settings like e.g. the Phantom offers would be much appreciated.
  22. Some awesome aerial footage from, amongst others, the C-130(J?)
  23. Hey, which FFB-device are you using? I just checked the telemetry for my Rhino, and without TelemFFB running and no curves applied the force is equal in all directions. No judgement, just adding a data point. I happen to have a flattened force response curve enabled for roll in my default profile. Therefore I didn't even notice an issue in the first place.
  24. Considering the massive support and push from Steam towards Linux, who for sure have more insight and data on that then you (we), I think you‘re wrong. Tides are shifting. Admittedly slowly, but they are. The downfall of AAA is also in favour of the shift.
