Incredibly loud AI Corsairs - Can't hear my own engine start
Hiob replied to RacerOne's topic in Bugs and Problems
Shut the canopy. Or enable helmet in the audio options. Or both. I don’t know what to tell you. Aircraft are loud. More seriously, check the „world“ audio gain. Generally speaking the environmental audio gain is pretty high in DCS (also applies to the F2 view e.g.) -
1GB script? rather unlikely.

Whatever else is going on, that I‘m actually sure of. If you want the proper and consistent recognition of axis across multiple modules (and games for that matter). You need to properly set up your FFB device on the device level (+the associated config software). If you have to invert the most basic axis (pitch/roll) in the sim, you‘re already off on the wrong foot. Since this only happened so far in the corsair (and intermittently), I assume it’s a bug.

Just as a data point, I tried a instant action mission yesterday (cold start caucasus), and wouldn’t you know it, I almost crashed because the frickin trim was inverted. I didn’t change a thing from earlier. Neither in DCS nor in VP config or TelemFFB. Tried another mission I made myself and everything went back to normal…… Can‘t wrap my head around it so far…..

Yes, that effects Single Player all the same. The biggest offenders (next to Anti Virus real time protection) ate those I mentioned above. The Power service can be disabled permanently on a desktop system (well you loose any power savings functionality of course but I figured that performance is the No. 1 priority here). It is important that this isn’t the same as choosing a performance power plan (which will have the service probing the system all the time nevertheless). There is more in the services that can be permanently disabled but that’s a topic on its own and can be researched on youtube (Chris Titus e.g.) For reference, my system shows <100 processes in the task manager when idling on the desktop (whereas an unoptimised system can easily have >200). Admittedly most of this is OCD hygiene and not really noticeable as performance improvement since most processes are sound asleep when not needed. Different story with apps that are actually running WHILE you are flying. RGB, Hardware Monitoring, etc….. the more of those you can live without, the better. Some are worse than others. I couldn’t find an issue with Afterburner/Riva telemetry. But the fancy Aquasuit I control my custom waterloop with chops up the frame time pretty badly. Fortunately it doesn’t need to run.

I noticed when taxiing that the missiles are rocking a little bit in their rails. That‘s new as far as I can tell. Might even be realistic as far as I can tell. Intentional?
-
Quite the opposite here. Noticeable better loading times and switching between map and views. (Game performance was already good). I disable all mods before an update though and haven’t enabled them yet.

Das kommt nicht von DCS. Wahrscheinlich vom Nvidia Control Panel, oder wenn Du den DLSS swapper benutzt hast von dort. Mach vielleicht mal einen Screenshot.
-
DLSS is updating on a different schedule than DCS, I‘m not keeping track. I just recently learned about DLSS Swapper and it is just so easy to use that I go with it. Also changing presets around and comparing is a lot easier. If DCS is up to date - all the better.
-
You can try DLSS swapper to switch to the latest version and try different presets. Some are better with the smearing issue than others. None are perfect though.

I cope with the single-dot-DLAA spoting issue by telling myself, that real world spoting when the object is the size of a "a single pixel" isn't perfect either. Atmospheric effects like thermals (or heat flimmering), pollution, haze/dust, cloudes or even a flock of birds (much nearer) between the target and the spotter, can throw of the visual "lock".
-
pretty much spot on.

On the danger of repeating myself, if the average performance is ok and you are just concerned with .1% performance (maybe perceived as micro stutter), try to improve CPU latency by getting rid of IRC hogs like the power service. Excessive mouse polling rates can also have bad influence on the issue. (If you are using a fance "gaming" mouse + Software. Other common culprits: RGB Software, Proprietary Apps from Razor, Logitech etc., Hardare Monitoring like HWinfo, Aquasuit....etc.... All the above stuff is pesting the CPU scheduler ALL the time with interrupt requests for updates and calls. Eventually the CPU has to divert cycles from important tasks like rendering to answer them..... If you have occasional perceivable hickups, that is most likely caused by asset loading or scripts in the mission. Very little to nothing can be done about that.

Tank co-ax and hull guns overperforming against aircraft
Hiob replied to Tbirdy's topic in Bugs and Problems
While I acknowledge that tweaking something like this (realistic engagement success rates from AI) is probably very difficult to model (properly/realisticly) - I also think that is something DCS needs improvement on desperately. Not only are AI ground units way too accurate, they also lack an element of randomness/variety. You can almost predict, how long it will take until they will eventually take you out. (Maybe that would be a band-aid until a proper solution - adding a factor of random chance to every "aiming/intercept" calculation for AI) -
disable the power service (and every other background process you can live without). The .1 lows are mostly caused by interrupt calls from other processes. The power service is one of the big offenders and easy to live without with. I suppose you have disabled the AV already.

in the meantime to keep us entertained

Thanks for the tag. Yes - that was what I was "disappointed" with. Even for an early access there are an awful lot of inop panels/buttons. I hope this will all be added down the road.

DCS MiG-29A Flight performance and air drag seems weird
Hiob replied to HoMeBoY's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Not sure if related, but I noticed that too. -
scrap my post. I misunderstood what you were going for.....

DCS MiG-29A Flight performance and air drag seems weird
Hiob replied to HoMeBoY's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Any thoughts on the apparent "lack" of drag when dirty, or do you think it's a function of the high idle thrust? -
This. Nor is the air itself perfectly still. (Well in DCS it can be, but that's unrealistic in itself)
