  1. Serious question: Is there a way to blacklist certain threads/topics, so that they don't appear in the feed (All activity)? That could come in handy from time to time. And I don't mean it in a snarky way. Could be really helpful to tidy up the feed from topics one simply isn't interested in.......
  2. Depending on the overall length of your stick, about 2.3 to 2.5 kg. * There are plenty of people that use such an extension (me included) and are very happy with the Rhino.** Best place to get information (and help) about the Rhino is the VP discord. (*the same you would get with the MOZA, except the Rhino has a MUCH better software support currently.) **and I'm not even setting it to max spring force most of the time. More like 65% Link to the Homepage (where you find the discord invitation): https://vpforcecontrols.com/
  3. been there.... you're welcome.
  4. It is - in a way. At least, Windows won't suspend any USB-ports or anything like this. Problem is only when you are very sensibel to micro-stuttering or have latency issues. Then it is really the easiest way to kill as many processes as possible (that aren't needed obviously), and power is one of the biggest offenders. Different CPUs, different setups may have more or less issues with that. I wouldn't suggest is to people that suffer from stutters, if it wasn't so easy to do (and revert) and if it wasn't safe to do it. As I said, there are other ways to do it without deactivating the process entirely, but they are WAY more complicated and require third party programs sometimes.
  5. When you have the power service disabled, you can't set powerplans - so probably it's running.
  6. The ultimate power plan is even worse in regards to latency. Per default (in all powerplans) the power service pushes IRQs every 15ms to monitor power requirements. There are ways to manually set this to 5000 ms (maximum) but it seriously way easier to simply turn this crap off.
  7. I choose the generic Virpil stuff because when you use replica devices, they only ever fit one particular Aircraft anyway. My strategy is to use the same basic bindings consistently throughout all Aircraft and use the mouse-clickable cockpit as much as possible. Same problem, different coping mechanism....
  8. I don't use them all, but I know that all can be bound and are recognized by DCS without issues. That's what you get when you combine a Virpil throttle + button box..... It's probably even more. I think the button box alone has ~ 100 physical buttons. Plus the virtual ones you can assign in the Virpil-Software and load on the devices. Never had any issue with DCS recognizing/binding any of them.
  9. Works for me as expected. What kind of FFB device are you using? Just an idea - have you by any chance confused the trim bindings? Maybe you have bound the force trim on/off switch instead of the trim release button? (Sorry I don't know the precise labels from the top of my head, but essentially there is a switch on the center console which activates or deactivates the force trim system entirely)
  10. 32 buttons isn‘t nowhere near of any critical threshold of buttons. Including logical buttons, I have something close to 150 buttons on my throttle. It‘s more likely that the 3rd party script you‘re using causes problems (with DCS).
  11. When you can set a timer for immortality, that is actually a brilliant idea..... Would be handy, if you could make them immortal between each other, but not from the players attacks..... but that's probably back to scripting magic I assume
  12. Without some heavy scripting magic (which I am incapable of), I don't see a solution. The problem of anti-stormtrooper aim with ground units is infamous in DCS. Only possible work around I can think of is limiting their ammo and delay the re-supply. Or perhaps find some armored units with low fire power (troop transports or so)
  13. True and true!
  14. Cool! Thanks for the heads-up!
  15. I was on a night instrument approach (IFR) on Beirut. ATC Tower cleared me for landing on RW 17 which I had dialed in for the approach. But those sons of biscuits lit up the wrong runway (RW 16). Unfortunately I was to close for a sideslip and landed on a rainy dark strip. Quite scary. I could offer a Track if necessary but naturally the landing is at the end and the track is pretty long, so it probably won’t work anyway.
  16. I have no issues with the inclusion of female or ethnic diverse pilot models, not in the slightest. I wouldn’t even care of the pilot would be randomised at mission start. It wouldn’t affect my gameplay or experience with DCS at all. I enjoyed Tomb Raider back in the days as well as Indiana Jones or Uncharted. Ot just doesn’t matter to me. I wonder though if I could even tell if there is a male or female underneath the helmet and flight suit? And I wonder even more of what relevance this is to high fidelity flight sim where the focus lays first on the Aircraft and Systems and second on putting warheads on foreheads. This isn’t a story driven RPG or Adventure, nor is it Sims or GTA. I think the whole discussion is a waste of energy related to DCS. There are other, more relevant, battlegrounds for this.
  17. Another benefit of killing the power service. That should take care of this.
  18. I didn‘t use this specific tool and don’t know about it, but something similar had helped me to trim windows down. My windows has <99 processes running after startup and settling to idle. I‘ll bet that most people have easily double that. More processes don’t necessarily hurt performance noticeable, but every process is a potential stutter to happen, so I like to keep them down on the gaming machine.
  19. Everything you don’t need. The fewer processes running, the better. Every third party app you don’t positively need. (Most won‘t have much or any impact, but keeping it tidy certainly does no harm). Check your autostart folder and task scheduler as well.
  20. Deactivate your realtime AV protection while playing or at least except all related folders from scanning. If you haven’t already. Damnit, slow again…. I‘m not sure this is from the power settings. Maybe, dunno.
  21. I‘m innocent!!! to be fair they didn’t specify when this week, did they?
  22. those are related, yes. But I can't tell with certainty if the powerplans influence additional things on top. Only thing I can tell wholeheartedly is, that I'm yet to notice any adverse effects by disabling the power service. (apart from the obvious of course) Actually, scrap that. By disabling the power service, you disable the powerplans for good. you basically set everything free. Problem is that, even set to high power settings, the service still makes frequent system calls/interrupts. A nice tool to see the latency hogs on your system is LatencyMon btw.
  23. I know for some folks feel uncomfortable about it, but when on a desktop system, I would really encourage people to disable the power service. This process is responsible for all things related to power savings. Including such things as putting hdds or monitors in suspense mode. The issue with this process is two-fold. First of all, when you're interested in ultimate unrestrictive performance, you don't want any of your PCs features to go to sleep. Almost more important than this is, that this process is notorious for flushing the system with interrupts which can lead to (micro-) stuttering. Last but not least, the service can be easily disabled and re-enabled again. Though enabling really only makes sense if you are concerned with power saving.
  24. Exactly. My personal experience and taste would say yes. No problem. But there are people that disregard anything below 20 lbs pull force as insufficient and unrealistic (those are in favor of the FFBeast which is currently the only FFB-Stick (that I know of) which can deliver such forces).
  25. Splendid!
