Basically you have a choice. Gain peripheral view or vertical. Both would be nice, but a triple screen 48" OLED setup would definitely bust my budget and probably melt my GPU...... For my personal taste, 16:9 fits the (my) needs better. Simply put - other than in cars, in aircraft the vertical is very important. Admittedly there are benefits to a wide FOV, e.g. in formation flying and such..... It's a tradeoff.

My feelings exactly. With ultrawide you don’t really gain anything in regards to size of gauges etc. and especially for things like dogfighting the vertical real estate is much more useful to me. I tried it, but no way I go back to the slit view.

That‘s why I know longer engage in discussions with either of the two….. But I couldn’t agree more to your post. That is exactly how I feel about monitors for office and gaming. Except in the office instead of a dual 27“ setup like most of my colleagues sport, I use an ultrawide (21:9) because of the layout, size and orientation of my desk it fits better. A little less real estate but nicer without the bevels in the middle. At home, I couldn’t go back from my 48“. I was thinking (shortly) about downsizing when 42“ OLED TVs became available, but especially with flight-sims, I love the real life sized instruments, I can read without squinting my eyes or lean forward…..

Das spricht für streaming probleme. Also Nachlader von Texturen oder sonst was. Kannst mal folgendes checken: AV (Defender?) deaktivieren, Auslagerungsdatei fixieren/vergrößeren, verschiedene Pre-Load Radien versuchen.

Ouch.

What? You serious? There are several potential bottlenecks no amount of bruteforce hardware power can overcome. You can have state of art hardware and still get latency, microstutters, frame drops, slow load times etc. Most of which is caused by the several layers of software (micro code, kernel, OS, drivers, application etc.) with the OS being the biggest offender.

Yeah, I'm basically waiting for my Screen to show signs of wear. So far, I was lucky. I'm rather picky with such things - dead pixels for example would trigger me immensly. When the ghosting will eventually start, I'm curious how irritating it will be. I assume it will be a very gradual process - hopefully bearable for another yera or two. But either way, I will eventually have to replace it.

Läuft hier wie immer. Hast Du vielleicht noch was anderes verändert? Z.B. GPU driver update? SSD randvoll?

Nobody attacked you. We were just a little baffled by this concern (which came a bit out of left field honestly) and gave reasons why this is very unlikely to say the least. Neither long or short term. DCS is a sandbox kind of game (for better or worse), the ME is pretty much its life support. Sure, ED may one day change their course, but currently I don’t see any signs of that at all.

Whilst I 100% approve and support this post I have to add from my personal experience - I‘m using the LG OLED TV now for almost three years. It hasn’t got the slightest hint of burn in so far. I‘m using it in a rather dim environment though and it never was set to peak brightness. I don’t use HDR or anything like that and I use a black screensaver which I enable immediately when leaving the desk. That‘s just an anecdote of course. Nevertheless, I couldn’t go back from OLED (or from the screen size)…..
-
I know. I don’t know why Monitors are so much more expensive than TVs, even if it is (in the case of OLED) sometimes the same panel. But that‘s why I went for a TV. Back then 48“ was the smallest size for OLEDs but I think LG has a 42“ option now.

It‘s not as bad as it sounds though. 75% is still below my eye-line and the viewing distance is so that I still have the whole screen in sight without moving my head or eyes. And you have to move up your head anyway when you are using TrackIR. That movement is more than enough to comfortably focus on the upper edge of the screen.
-
I‘m using a 48“ monitor. And since it is 16:9 and not 21:9 or 32:9, it has considerable more height than any average monitor. Basically putting the eye-line on the upper egde is impossible with this kind of screen (given normal desk and seat heights). Never had any problems with it though. It makes it even more immersive for me, since cockpit parts that are supposed to be above my line of sight (mirrors, overhead panels etc) indeed are where they are supposed to be.
-
This is true for static office work where you stare mmore or less motionless at documents for prolonged time periods. When using a very large monitor - especially one that is 16:9 - you can't do that (obviously), but it doesn't hurt. You basically have the cockpit life sized in front of you (depending on the fov) and sometime you need to look "up" above your eye-line same as you would in a real cockpit. Other than in an office situation, your constantly moving your head and look around (at least you should).

Just reduce the clock some and add some voltage and see if stability improves. Apart from that, any overclock should be removed as a first step in trouble shooting (for stability issues/crashes). -
Yeah, that was what I meant. From my own experience I don't see a problem with the particular pixel size (1440p at 32") unless you are significant closer than arms length to it. A 1440p OLED (if such exist, dunno) - might be a sweet spot. However, before spending 1600+ bucks on a 32" I would lookout for a 42" or even bigger. (which then needs to be 4K of course)
-
Just food for thought. I opted for an OLED TV (48", 120hz, G-sync-capable) for that reason, because Monitors are insanely overpriced. I paid around 1200,- € iirc. There ARE downsides to it (mainly missing comfort functions like sleep and wake-up with the PC e.g. or being limited to HDMI). But the actual gaming experience is awesome.

Regarding GPU overclocking. Always keep in mind, that an overclock that is stable in the winter isn't necessarily stable in the summer - depending on how much the room temperature changed and how much you squeezed it. -
I would say 32" with 1440p is still perfectly fine. (I have a 48" 4K so basically the same pixel size or ppi). However if eye candy is a priority - why not go 4K? (I can see some reasons, but I'm interested in yours) p.s. on the note of eye candy - maybe considering OLED over IPS is even more benficial than resolution....

Staying conscious and capable of acting is a different story though.

Thank you! Got it. Is the squelch turned on/off by the DDI or is there a switch in the cockpit that I didn't found yet. (I am a complete noob when it comes to all things radio related - just starting to get into it) -
This. Also keep in mind, that the apparent size of the real moon varies quite a lot depending on your location and the time of month/year. (Almost 15%)
