  1. Apache can not fly over the mountains. The only NATO casualties in NATO military use over Yugoslavia were Apache pilots trying to get to Yugoslavia over the mountains from Albania. Coaxial helicopter is more efficient, and if I am not mistaken can fly at higher altitudes. Vihor, although outdated missile, has a slightly longer range and is faster then Hellfire. Also, Vihor can not loose the target because it rides on the laser beam. Apache has two crew, and that is way better then a single crew Black Shark. Black Shark was not built for night operations, therefore it can not be compared to a helicopter that was built for night operations. Each helicopter, Apache and Black Shark are good combat systems.
  2. Well, Rhino arrived few days after I left for a business trip. I am currently in the country of Botswana and will be back home week after next. I can not wait to return home and to try Rhino ...
  3. After I ordered in January and Amazon canceled my order in late April, I went to Saitek and ordered directly from Saitek. My Rhino arrived on Friday. :)
  4. There is simply no need to carry any kind of missiles, there is no evidence of any kind of threat from Russia. Also, it could be that they are even carrying inert missiles now. Any good pictures to confirm if the missiles are live or inert?
  5. All right, now you are talking. Can you please say what is the target size and speed that you want to hit with your home made guided "rocket" of your design and why? Which one of my question or comment was immature? I asked you to tell me what is the target that you have in mind while "discussing" your home made guided "rocket" design. And then, I asked, why that target. It is a childish argument to ask if that kind of a device can be built or not. If you take a look at some of the RC modelers garages you will see electronics, sensors, test equipment, high current LiPo batteries and high speed and torque digital servo motors to build whatever he wants.
  6. Are you saying that it is all right to build "guided" rockets in the USA? Guided on what? What kind of guidance are you talking about, IR, radar? What is the target? Stabilization is different then guidance, right? I am OK for these hobby guys to build a stabilization systems to make this rockets to fly straight up. But, guidance is something else. Guidance has a target that it goes after. Have you seen how powerful are some of the "hobby rockets" nowadays? http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/space/rockets/4315103 I don't even think that it is legal for hobbyists or private individuals to build guided missiles or rockets in the USA.
  7. The question on this thread was about a guided missile, not a bout the crude home made bomb. Guided missile guides or homes on something, right? I guess, your job has noting to do with frequently flying around the country, does it? Well, I do fly, as a passenger, very often. And I don't really like people talking about building home made guiding missiles.
  8. I sure hope that somebody is watching forums for threads like this one.
  9. What do you need a guided missile for, for god sake? Fishing, hunting? What?
  10. New York times is now backing off its original story about the pictures. http://rt.com/news/154548-pictures-russian-troops-false/ Please refrain from discussing the matters. Please feel free to post a link to a news snippet on denouncing the claims.
  11. Sure, I agree. So, where did the concept FIRST come from? I mean the concept of stealth? Absolutely. And everybody does it. However, same problem can only be solved in very similar ways. So, to just claim that all these aircraft are copies of the F-22, is plain silly. On top of that, PAK FA has some very different features, such as wider engine placement, additional control surfaces, different wing shape and angles ...
  12. Yeah, all of these aircraft have wings, so it has to be a copy, because F-22 has wings too. Well, similar or, exactly the same, objectives, or problems to be solved, will bring very similar, if not the same solutions. The fact is that, up to now, USA has had the most resources to come up with solutions first. But, take a look little closer at PAK FA, and you will see a lots of original design solutions very different then of what's on F-22. Although, they both have landing gears, thus somebody is coping that ingenious design solution, right ...
  13. Because of the different tactical objectives. F-15 is designed to fight BVR battle deep into the opponent territory, relying on its own powerful radar. Flanker is designed to defend territory in CAC, relying on a GCI data link and EOS, because powerful ground based jammers render radars useless.
  14. If it is stupid, but it works, then it is not stupid. :) Also, I think this is a prototype unit. I can not imagine Russia, or any other military accepting a field unit that is not a water proof. Thus, in the final version, I am sure the control joysticks will be different.
  15. Yeah, John Stewart had a set of the pictures too. Take a look at yesterday's episode of the Daily Show: http://thedailyshow.cc.com/
  16. I am slowly building my Red Star library.
  17. I am in!! Thanks for letting us know. Well, now, until June, I need to redo my joystick stand. Few days ago I ordered some 80/20 aluminum extrusion so as to be able to build the stand, attache it to my chair and be able to adjust height and dept of it.
  18. Радиотехническая система ближней навигации (РСБН) - Short range radio navigational system. Посадочная радиомаячная группа (ПРМГ) - Radio equipment for Instrument Lending System
  19. I fully agree whit what you are saying. And I did not question military response and adaptation to political demands from Washington DC. What I question is interpretation of achieved results. And this book is perfect because we have a lot's of facts to talk about. I know that it hurts when different opinion is heard, opinion that is not in line with accepted believes. I also have a first hand account from the people that were on the ground looking at those A-10's flying over Kosovo and Metohija. My brother was born and use to live in Kosovo and Metohija. My wife was born and used to live in Kosovo and Metohija. Her family still owes land there, but ... Some 40+ years ago, my father took me to the field of 14th century Kosovo Battle ... Back in Yugoslavia, my friends and colegues were Kosovo Albanains, there was a young Kosovo Albanian lady attending the same class in the primary school with me. The book is excellent, I read it long time ago, I had a hard copy for a while until I gave it away. And I bought additional copy as a gift to one of my friends. I've never said that book is bad. This book is a perfect testimony of real pilots doing "mission impossible". And with all of their effort and adaptation, results of that mission impossible were not that great.
  20. So far, with "the first release" there is no evidence that Rhino is having any major flaws. I am not afraid to buy new things, and I am ready to invest little extra time and money to make things work the way I want them to work. Your thinking is fundamentally flawed, because, somebody has to buy thing first, regardless of the amount of wisdom involved. You are just type of the person not willing to buy (some) things early. And that's fine. But, I would disagree big time, that people who buy early, somehow, has a lack of "wisdom syndrome". Even here, you do admit that you would be early adopter, for things that you like and are probably very familiar with. And that's fine for you. Because, in my mind, I would say "I dunno, how much wisdom does it take for people to remember that its probably not a good idea to be there for the first release of anything like this (supercar)?" :)
  21. This whole procedure simply tells you that the A-10's over Yugoslavia could not be used for what they were designed for. But were used for FAC missions for which they were not very effective either, because they were not designed for FAC missions. Write meters conversion on the canopy? Manually converting m to ft? Read coordinate over the radio, so that Yugoslavian military can hear, and change location?
  22. Here's one. I don't think this is R-73, however.
  23. It is not available directly from Saitek either. http://store.madcatz.com/brands/saitek/Saitek-Pro-Flight-X-55-Rhino-H-O-T-A-S-System-for-PC.html
  24. Believe it or not, Amazon canceled my Rhino order!? WOW! I've never had this happened to me. Here's the e-mail from Amazon: "Hello, We're unable to fulfill your order for the items listed below because they aren't available from the supplier any longer. As a result, we cancelled them from your order and your credit card wasn't charged. Mad Catz Saitek Pro Flight X-55 Rhino H.O.T.A.S. (Hands on Throttle and Stick) System for PC We're sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this may have caused. Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com. 25. BBC, British Broadcasting Company, is a British Government owned broadcasting company and it reflects British Government views. I can give you a list of more then obvious bias that BBC has against many issues, specially when it comes to Yugoslavian civil war tragedy and NATO military use over Kosovo and Metohija. I can not provide the examples of BBC bias here, because, every time I've done it, my posts were declared political, and the threads and posts were either deleted, closed or I got warnings. Nevertheless, this documentary is OK, but far from being completely unbiased.
