It’s been a while, I’m doing the F4 mig killers campaign at the moment, they’re a Mach 4 missile, though the top speed varies wildly. It’s dependent upon your launch parameters, a Phoenix launched down low in the thick atmosphere will be much slower and have a much shorter range than one launched up high.

Get yourself high and fast, the less atmosphere the phoenix has to go through means less drag, if you can get through the transonic region to Mach 1.2 (a lot of drag in the transonic area) before you launch that’ll help too.

When you’re on finals and you’re all nicely trimmed out use power to adjust your glide slope.

When in VR the input window where you can write appears at the front of your view where the jester wheel normally appears. It’s a bit inconvenient but it’s apparently a limitation of the DCS engine.

Grease pencil works in VR, I was using it yesterday. The only issue is the input window appears at the front in the same place as the jester wheel but that’s a DCS limitation.

Turns out I had set the aircraft wear to 45% when I created the mission file. Just for the fun I set it to 100% to see what that would do.... On one occasion the Pave Spike actually zoomed out further when i tried to go to 4X zoom which i thought was hilarious.

That’s nuts about the gun camera, forward vis out of the phantom already sucks with the rwr display and the equipment for the pave spike up there. mcdonnell douglas really didn’t care too much about pilot ergonomics when they developed the phantom.

For the people having trouble, what headsets are you using? I’m still using my old valve index and don’t have any trouble with the cockpit being too dark. also don’t forget the phantom is terrible for cockpit ergonomics, it is / was dark, with controls and instruments in dumb places (ger and flap indicators). There’s a reason they don’t make them like this any more.

Thanks for the reply. I went through the last few patch notes and didn’t see anything about changes but I didn’t think about the aircraft condition state, I’ll check the mission editor next time I load up dcs.

Anyone noticed that the pave spike zoom has changed? The below images show the current amount the image zooms in (left narrow FOV, right wide FOV) while in the tutorial video by RedKite which I've also linked, shows how much zoom you used to get when the F4 released. It used to zoom all the way in so you couldn't see the FOV circle. null

GBU10 station 2 and 8 - no longer in rearm table which is incorrect.

Dude the issue is the weapon list for stations 2 and 8 is huge and doesn't fit on the screen, a log isn't going to tell you anything and it's definitely not mod related. These lists were probably never envisioned to be so large but they are now and need a scroll bar. -

Are ED ever going to address this issue? I know you guys have told them about it but they are clearly not interested. Perhaps it’s on the list behind all the super carrier work that needs to be done (5 years and counting) ….. -
That’s very fitting. In RN service she was called HMS VENERABLE and had a squadron of Corsairs on board.

This has been my observation too, something needs tweaking there.

The HUD could even have a fuzzy cover over it when we cold start the jet…. Also recommend adding optional fuzzy seat covers like in the f16

No dramas, you can also bring the manual up in the aircraft, I think it’s the M key by default.

That’s Jester moving the cursor, you can command him to move the cursor over each contact with the “jester context button” then lock a target with a long press. Check out the manual, it’s up to date and very well done.
