That’s good news, I misinterpreted what he wrote. -

What you mean it was known and they pushed the update anyway? -
They are terrible, when the ai ejects you get huge black squares pooping out of the aircraft, it looks ridiculous.

Feedback Thread - F-4E Phantom II Patch, September 30th 2024
Q3ark replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
You guys are all over the manual. I never think to check it because the manuals for most other modules rarely see an update. Thanks guys! -
There’s only one clown around here, I assume you’re an adult, time to act like one.
-
No dude, I don’t mean that.

Jester is great, in both the tomcat and the f4. I’d rather have him than not have him. It’s helpful to turn down the ICS a little so you can still hear jester but also hear a radio call if one comes in while he’s talking.

Where to look for the "most current" procedures and workarounds?
Q3ark replied to Razor18's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Shouldn’t all that be in the manual? -
You don’t have to be rude about it, the heatblur team have spent a significant amount time and effort bringing jester to life, they’ve done a hell of a lot to innovate and bring new features to DCS. If you’re having problems, ask for help, don’t automatically assume jester is at fault, it might be you not understanding what you’re doing. To your last question on what distance the radar bore sight mode can be used, I’d suggest you get your head in the manual, you might learn something.

Steps to reproduce the problem. Do a cold start, before you even turn on the battery go outside the aircraft and see of that door is open. If it is then power up and take off, have a look and see if that door is still open. Then fire the gun, it will now operate as it should. this problem does not present itself if you do a hot start aircraft.

AGM-45 Shrike Quick Guide by Klarsnow - updated June 5th 2024
Q3ark replied to HB_Painter's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
@Northstar98 sounds like a skill issue on my end then , thanks dude I’ll have another crack at it this weekend and upload a track file. -
Hi @Lord Vader I don't run any mods, this install of DCS has never been modded in the past. I did a repair on steam, no change. I've attached two track files, the first one is the cold and dark instant action flight, the second is the ready at the ramp one, both on the Caucases map. In the cold and dark instant action track the gas purge door is open, it will remain open if you take off and fly with it, only closing after you fire the gun, then it will work normally. The second track file is hot start, gas purge door works as it should. I'm using the multi thread version on steam, up to date. Steps to reproduce, 1 Cold start instant action flight or place a cold start jet on the ramp in the mission editor. F16_1.trk F16_2.trk

AGM-45 Shrike Quick Guide by Klarsnow - updated June 5th 2024
Q3ark replied to HB_Painter's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I have set up an SA3 site, Got a P19 Flat Face search radar and an S-125 Low Blow tracking radar. With the Shrikes I'm using the Mk 36 (band I) - SNR-125 (Low Blow) and the Mk 37 (band C) - P15 (Flat Face) seeker heads. -
Should the gun gas purge door be closed unless the gun is firing? It's open at all times from a cold start, closing and operating normally when the gun is fired for the first time.

AGM-45 Shrike Quick Guide by Klarsnow - updated June 5th 2024
Q3ark replied to HB_Painter's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I’ve spent the last two days trying to get them to track and had no joy. I thought it was a skill issue but then I saw the comment made be KlarSnow, now I have no idea if it’s me or the Shrike, they always land somewhere near but don’t seem to track, I’m putting the correct seeker heads on. I’ll edit my training mission so the F4 spawns with them on rather than having to set up an empty aircraft in game, see if they’ll track. -
It’s probably the DLSS doing its thing, try turning it off and testing again just to confirm if that’s the problem.

Does anyone know if ED fixed the issue mentioned in the quote from KlarSnow? I couldn't see anything in the last few change logs. -
Feedback Thread - F-14 Tomcat update, August 9th 2024
Q3ark replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
It’s not residual heat, it’s friction from the air heating the heat shield due to the spacecraft‘s high speed when re-entering the atmosphere. -
I’d definitely hold off on buying again until the situation is resolved and someone is actually working on it again. It’s a long way from being finished and if it ends abandoned sooner or later a DCS update will stop it working all together.

A track file is a diagnostic tool, it lets the devs see what’s going on behind the scenes in the sim. They werent designed as a replay tool, that’s why they de-sync over time. Nobody is calling you names.

I’ve had very few problems with jester. In fact I’m enjoying using him and find him very useful. Seeing so many people complain about him I genuinely thought I was missing or not understanding something fundamental. I wonder how many of the people complaining are simply expecting too much or blaming him (the AI) for their own faults or lack of ability?
-
You guys crack me up. See if the number of rivets is correct too!
-
The DCS F4 isn’t a real aircraft it’s a collection of pixels on your screen, you’re really just sat in your pants doing make believe flying on your PC and taking it incredibly seriously too.

Jester can’t fire any weapons, what’re you having trouble with?
