  1. How do you apply a fresh install in this case given it comes as an upgrade? Do you let it upgrade first and then wipe your HDD. I've never change OS before without starting with a new Pc. As mine has a few niggles in the system I am looking at wiping everything and starting fresh.
  2. I'd certainly like a Mig-25 eventually, but the Viggen is more interesting imo so I'd rather those rumours were true.
  3. I could never go back to an HDD with DCS, I did it with BF4 recently and the game is half way through but the time I get in now. My SSD is critically full now, I purchased the 109 and SU-27 campaign recently but can't install them. Once my windows 10 arrives, I'm going to either upgrade my 240gb main SSD to a bigger one, or just add another 1TB specifically for DCS.
  4. It seems an ex Red arrows Hawk (Gnat maybe?) has just crashed at Car fest! There isn't much in the way of info yet but early reports are that it simply nose dived all of a sudden, no chute spotted. Really hope the guy(s) got out okay. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-33748256
  5. Our of interest, what do you think is better about the C-101 than the Hawk? I have very little interest in that aircraft but I really like the Hawk (lack of efm and rear cockpit view in the beta aside) I'm looking forward to the L-39 also.
  6. Not sure I deserved the negative rep for this post McBlemmen?
  7. That isn't entirely true, the trainers were chosen because the developers wished to make those aircraft. The idea that they are somehow getting in the way of making proper fighter/attack aircraft doesn't hold up. Again, I see why not everybody is interested in trainer aircraft (I have zero interest in the C-101) but many of us are. Just don't buy them if you don't want them, complaining helps nobody, we can't all have what we want all the time. I love the Hawk myself although I am eagerly awaiting the EFM. The Mig 21 was in development for a long old time. I'd like an F-16 as much as anybody, but at the same time I'd love a Tucano as it is something I see regularly.
  8. I hope they don't because I'm a fan of the Buckeye. I love DCS: Hawk, I'll be buying the L-39, I just don't get this hatred for trainers. It's fine if not everybody wants to buy them, but some of us just want to experience aircraft we like as close to the real things as possible, and DCS is our best hope for that. There are plenty of DCS modules that allow us to blow stuff up, and there will be plenty more to come, a few trainers won't get in the way of that. P.S, the Hawk is better armed than several of the pure fighters that people rave about in DCS, so while it may be primarily a trainer in RAF service, it has a sting.
  9. I'd go with the pack and suggest the F-15c. But I have just started flying the Su-27 myself a bit more, going to learn it properly when I get time, I'm having fun with it.
  10. Next surprise... It isn't ;) Different module made by a different company, the C-101 will have to be purchased separately. Both of these modules do include two separate versions of the same aircraft however, maybe this is what confused you? L-39c >> http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/albatros/ C-101 >> http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/c-101_aviojet/
  11. You could ask this same question about a hundred different aircraft, and the answer will always be the same.... Can't make everything at once as making sims at this level isn't a quick job. This one is up there with the F-16 demand wise, I'm sure we'll see it eventually, just need patience as ever in this hobby. It was actually earmarked before so it is likely on ED's agenda long term still.
  12. Python

    DCS: F-5E!

Nice to see a nod to this in the stream today. Looking forward to a future stream dedicated to the F-5.
  13. Not expecting it, but have been hoping for this to be added for a long time. It would have a massive affect on the overall immersion.
  14. And you'll get one soon, an F-18 at that. In the mean time, I'm excited for this one. Can't always have what you want.
  15. Really looking forward to the stream focussing on this at the weekend. Usually I'd have ordered as soon as I saw the FB post, but I'm all out of space on my SSD. Haven't even installed the 109 or SU-27 campaign yet. I'm waiting for DCS2 and then I'm going to add a 1tb Samsung evo just for DCS and start fresh. I'll just have to miss out on this one for a while unless DCS2 launches with it...
  16. Well I missed this then, I shall wait for the Youtube link..
  17. From Facebook... "The next DCS World live Stream will be on Sunday, July 26th at 1800 UTC. The News and Q&A will start at 1730 UTC. Channel chat opens at 1700 UTC. This stream will focus on DCS: L-39 Albatros."
  18. Here's a view you don't see often, just listen to the old girl purring, will be a sad day soon when she lands for good...
  19. The L-39 looks amazing, Ill be buying it for sure. Side note, I remember the old Lotus L-39 from FSX as it had a unique feature at the time.... Rain drops on the canopy, just putting it out there now DCS2 is close ;)
  20. The Q&A is on now. Next weeks stream will hopefully be featuring the L-39, looking forward to seeing that one!
  21. We'll Yeah, but DCS is all about replicating real life scenarios. So while you could jump straight into a modern fighter and just train in that with no worries a real life pilot may have, it wouldn't be accurate. Again, I appreciate some people have no interest at all with some aspects of military aviation. But having real life trainer aircraft is just as exciting to me as the fighters. Just learning how they work and feeling how they fly is a thrill you can't really experience outside of dcs... Or the airforce if you are lucky. I'm all for trainers, transports, helis, next gen fighters, anything the devs wish to give us is just fine by me.
  22. We will even if they don't as VEAO are making a Sea Harrier which should be fun ;)
  23. Because war isn't just about blowing stuff up, in fact it is arguably more about training than anything else (hard training, easy war) I get that some people just want to blow things up and that's fine, but there are plenty of modules to do that with already so moaning about resources being wasted on trainers when the devs have chosen to make that aircraft makes no sense. The Hawk is a good example of a fun little jet that many people actually see in their skies regularly and now have the chance to see how it flies and what all the switches do etc. That for me is what DCS is great at, along with blowing stuff up. In fact, the ability to actually learn how to fly the aircraft I see in the sky is what I look forward to moist from DCS personally, the combat comes second. And the thought of a full and proper training campaign, Tutor >> Tucano >> Hawk >> Typhoon is just music to my ears. I suspect plenty of others will feel the same way. Anyway, I used the Hawk as an example of something that splits opinion and you proved that point with a differing opinion to mine. I do think you are very much missing out however if you aren't buying it simply because it is primarily a trainer... It is a great looking jet, with a nice cockpit and in the right hands, it has a sting in its tail.
  24. The Swedish airforce historic flight still operate a Viggen which tours around the airshow circuit. I saw it at RAF Waddington last year and was just as impressed as ever, so plenty of people will still be seeing it fly today... Along with the Draken. I agree with the basic idea though which is why I don't understand all of the complaints about trainers in DCS. The Hawk is something I've wanted at DCS level for years and I'm very happy to have it, can't wait for the Tucano, Tornado and Typhoon now.
  25. We are getting a Eurofighter you'll be pleased to know. Head over to the VEAO section on this forum. We are also getting an F-18c from ED themselves. As for what you'd call niche aircraft, well the simple answer there is that everybody is different. I'd love a Viggen! I suspect you are underselling it quite a bit and it will probably sell very well if it is made. I would rather developers made the aircraft they passionately wish to make, and have access to at the time of development rather than worry too much about what fits in where. DCS is still quite young, we are at a point now where we are starting to see new third parties come in (as recently as yesterday) and more and more stuff is being planned for DCS. Times are good, things will come together soon enough I am sure.
