  1. This is tragic, what a terrible year for air show disasters!
  2. That was looking nice until the end.
  3. What obsession? DCS wise, the only two seaters are the trainers, and the Huey/MI-8 of course which doesn't have any other option. All of the fighter/attack aircraft are single seaters. There is no denying twin seaters are generally more attractive. So while I'm not saying we should have them instead of the single seat versions, it would be nice to have both options where possible.
  4. The simple answer is whichever aircraft he is most interested in. Although FC3 may appeal to the average Warthunder player quite nicely. As for WW2, well the P-51d is my personal favourite so far, the 190 is the only DCS module I really don't like, and I own them all (C-101 aside)
  5. You guys need to check this long term list better ;) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=127100 I'm looking forward to the Gripen, I'd love a B/D just because it's such a nice looking jet (as is the twin seat Typhoon) But I'm not sure any developer would consider it unfortunately. It would be a lot of extra work.
  6. That is a common assumption, but don't forget that VEAO are making a version for the military and have the access needed. They have said themselves that they are confident they can offer a product that represents the real aircraft closely. And while they have admitted that some features may be left out, this is the case for other aircraft also such as the A-10c. In reality, we won't know what we are missing so it isn't really a problem. DCS is the best example of an in depth military flight sim, but given the nature of what is being simulated here (military aircraft) we have to accept that we will usually never get 100% accuracy. But we will get very close, which is good enough for me. FC3 will remain a good introduction for new players as long as dcs exists. As much as I do like it, and the value it represents, I'd be happy to only see dcs level aircraft from now on.... As well as many of the FC3 aircraft being upped to full DCS level.
  7. I think the future is aimed more at full on DCS modules, we will no doubt see a Vietnam theme in future as enough aircraft from the period appear. Still, I like FC3, it is a good intro to the series so I often recommend it to others, maybe that kind of title will have a future, who knows..
  8. Hmm, my thinking was that DCS would perform better if nothing else was on the drive, given the way SSD's work. But in reality, the extra speed of the EVO would more than make up for that I guess. I think I'll make the new 1TB Evo my main boot drive and just install DCS on it. I'll use the corsair for Origin titles... Battlefield 4 etc.
  9. My windows is corrupt anyway I believe as I've been having a few niggling problems and some start up failures recently. I was going to wipe my boot drive (SSD) anyway and figured I may as well kill two birds with one stone. I'm sure the samsung drive will be blindingly fast, even relative to the speedy one I already have. Maybe I will put DCS on it after all and leave my old one for origin or something as I have a relatively small library of games on there anyway. I use my HDD for storage and some programs that don't really need the speed of an SSD.
  10. Yeah, I'd just like DCS somewhere alone and clean as it is the title I care most about. The Samsung drive has proven to be about 200% faster in the tests I looked at. But the force 3 has been no slouch for me so far. It has given me very quick loading times. I may yet change my mind and just put DCS on the main SSD with Windows, that is what this thread is for, for people to tell me I'm a fool and give proper advice ;)
  11. I'm looking forward to trying this campaign once my new SSD arrives (didn't have the space to install it before) I don't really know how to use the SU-27 properly yet and have very little flight time on it in favour of the F-15c. But learn by doing and all that...
  12. It isn't worth selling now they have come down in price so much, I paid more for that one a couple of years ago than I just did for my 1TB Samsung SSD. The new Samsung drive is the better of the two, I think I'll make that my main drive for now with all my steam/Origin games on etc. Then I'll reserve the 240GB Corsair Force 3 for DCS only... No telling how big it may get mind. Thank you fro the input so far guys.
  13. Just looking for a few opinions on how best to go about setting up my Hard drives in general. Long story made short, when I had my PC built, it featured a Corsair Force 3 SSD (240gb) for windows, general programs and DCS ( C: ). And an 1tb HDD for everything else ( E: ). Well as expected, the SSD hs been critically full for some time now. I've uninstalled DCS completely and ordered a Samsung 850 Evo (1tb) I was planning to add the Samsung as a third drive specifically for DCS, but now I'm thinking that may be over kill. I'm wondering what others would do in this situation? I'm going to wipe the corsair SSD anyway and start fresh whatever I decide to do as I believe my windows 7 is corrupt and preventing me making the Windows 10 upgrade currently. So is the best option to leave the 240gb SSD as the boot drive only and add the 1tb SSD as the third drive for DCS and other games. Or should I put my expensive new Samsung SSD to better use and make that my boot drive with all other games etc on, and use the 240gb Corsair SSD for DCS only as a third drive? I don't plan to touch my HDD at all but can do if needed. Any help/opinions appreciated. Specs: I7 3770k @4.4ghz Asus Z77 Sabertooth EVGA GTX 680 SC 8gb Corsair XMS 3 ram Corsair force 3 240gb SSD western digital 1tb HDD Samsung 1TB 850 evo SSD
  14. That was one heck of a display from the F-15!! It was right on the edge. Was it signed off or did they just steal it, as an observer it was hard to tell ;)
  15. I wouldn't say they are a gimmick. I was happy enough with the twist function on my old stick which is more of a gimmick tbh. But then I got the Wonderful Thrustmaster Warthog which doesn't have a twist function so I was forced to buy rudder pedals. I got the Saitek combat pedals and they are useful, I never fly without them. I'd probably try a different set if I had to buy again but for the money they are okay.
  16. That's great!
  17. Fingers crossed extremely tightly for this one. A, that it actually happens. And B, that it is of a high quality with a great flight model and sound etc.
  18. He did mention something about being able to visualise the skins I'm sure, but I thought it was in the mission editor. It would be a nice feature at any rate. Maybe Matt will elaborate on it in a future Q&A.
  19. I'll be happy with the Mosquito, what a beauty! I forgot it was on veao's list tbh, it just excited me for the second time.
  20. Well we're getting a Lightening, this makes me very happy. But there is plenty of room for an F-4 in DCS also so bring it on...
  21. Not properly yet I don't think. But in one of Wags videos, there were some F-18's departing the base. Despite the poor resolution on twitch, they remained visible for quite some time... Bodes well for us. EDIT: Here, skip to about 46 minutes..
  22. Glad he got out okay and nobody else was hurt. Shame to lose another Falcon as ever though.
  23. Put it this way. My x52 cost half what my TM Warthog did, maybe a little less than half. Is the Warthog twice as good? No.. It's infinitely better in every way. It is undeniably expensive, but an x52 and similar sticks are just accessories that will be chucked in a couple of years. The Warthogs a masterpiece that will be with you for many years and once you've tried it, you'll never look twice at another lower quality joystick. I appreciate it is priced like an ssd, or even a gpu upgrade, but you kind of have to put it on the same bracket as those things, it is an upgrade in every sense. If the option is there to wait and save towards it, you may wish to consider doing so, I think any of us that own it would say it is certainly worth it. Still, there are other options of course
  24. Didn't he stop making them? I remember looking into these when I first got my TM Warthog way back when. I'd still be interested in getting some myself.
