  1. ...and be aware that everytime you go into Lockon and change the OPTIONS, it resets your aspect settings in graphics.cfg to the default (which is quite annoying!!). So you have to go edit it again.
  2. http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/forum/ Why not try making a post (link above) on the jabog32 forum? Their forums are not exactly busy, but you are more likely to catch someone who worked on the ATC Utility and knows about it. Their forums are split into several chunks - 1st bit is black shark, 2nd bit is Lockon, so make sure you post in the Lockon section. They are real friendly folks, they even have a sticky post that says - Welcome international visitors, feel free to post in English. How nice is that?
  3. No worries. A lot of folks shy away from visiting foreign language sites like CheckSix ( http://www.checksix-fr.com/ ), JaBog-32 ( http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&lang=en ), Alas Rojas ( http://www.alasrojas.com/Descarga/lomac/ficheros.htm ), etc. Our French and German colleagues make some great skins, Mods, Utils (Modman, Tacview, Lobrief, french LoTATC, german jabog32_ATC), etc. And it is not such a big deal to navigate those sites, much of the jabog32 site is in English as well and as for the C6 site - the french for skin is..... well it seems to be skin, ditto the other categories.
  4. Check out Lockonfiles as already mentioned, but also http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showcat=1 One I would recommend from there is Runway lights mod by ARCHER - this mod will change the default runway lights to war time low visibility. Direct link below, http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=543 Other sites to check out for good stuff, Jabog32 (great collection of Lockon movies) http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&lang=en http://www.checksix-fr.com/
  5. WIP means Work in Progress. I don't recall Mizzy releasing those weathered ship skins (might have but I don't recall it). I recall trying out those flame effects of hers, but they just might have been a beta she releaeed to a few of us on the Forums. Don't recall her doing anything with big aircraft either. Not many folks have bothered having a go at them. I remember my old buddy iViper21 (who dropped off the forums a long time ago) doing the C-17 which you already have. Many moons ago Alexandra did a Tu-95 reskin, our French chums on C6 have it, link below http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?Fichier=1447 also Alexandra's C-130 http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?Fichier=2039 ...or you may prefer Flanker's Tu-95/142 http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?Fichier=2424 Flankers KC-10 http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?Fichier=2492 also Terraquelle's E-3 skin http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?Fichier=1801 Oxitoms aeroflot An26/30 (which I quite like) http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?Fichier=4353
  6. You just have to be patient. Modding lockon is not trivial, it is not "Mod-friendly". The AdA mod team are top class folks and know what they are doing. But as Cpt Stark and Azrayen said they can't give an estimate of when it will be ready, they have real lives outside Lockon that come first. I worked on software projects for over 25 years (radars, military comms, etc). Not one of the projects I worked on ever came close to being finished on its estimated date.
  7. As far as I remember, declassifying a campaign does not affect it keeping track of destroyed objects (I assume thats what you mean by "attrition"). Only resetting the campaign will do that. While on the subject of declassifying....... If you have downloaded any of the excellent missions/campaigns designed by the Lockon community, then some may be classified. Either the briefing notes or the readme file may tell you the password. Some may not. If not, then you can still get into them by overwriting the password with your own. Use keystrokes rather than the pulldown menu to do this. Press "ctrl + left shift + C" then type in a password of your choice e.g. 1234. Now press "ctrl + left shift + D" and enter your password e.g. 1234 NOTE that Lockon does not seem to remember this, so you may have to do it each time you restart Lockon. If there is something that bugs you about a mission or campaign, perhaps it runs too slowly on your PC - maybe there are too many eye candy units in it that are not pertinent to the mission. Whatever..... You can declassify a mission or campaign in the Mission Editor. You can even fly the campaign missions in any order you want (plus change weather, skins, weapon loadout, etc). I use this method all the time to cherry-pick the fun missions in a campaign and miss out the dull ones. Go into Mission Editor, upper left of screen click on the open button, bottom right TYPE OF FILE select CAMPAIGN, navigate the folder structure to the campaign you want and select it. Bottom right click on MAP. Now you will see the 1st mission of your campaign. Now if you declassify it (using the password over-write technique if you dont know its password), then all the mission in the campaign are visible and you can fly any one you wish, or mess about with it, etc. Best to keep a copy of the original first before you edit it, saves you having to D/L it again if you decide you prefer the original after all.
  8. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/99610606/m/6201091752?r=9711040952#9711040952 Long standing issue (check the link above from 2004). Answer - only set axes in Lockon. Set buttons etc using the profile software that comes with the X52. It is real easy to use, I never read manuals, just get into it and I had my first few buttons programmed and a skeleton profile made in a few minutes. Tweaked it over the next day or two as I tried it out flying in Lockon - moved a few buttons around, added a few more commands, etc. until I had it how I wanted it. Tweaking the X52 profile with the profiling software was much easier than my previous stick when I had to use Lockon itself.
  9. Enjoy! Feel free to give feedback on lockonfiles. Almost 10,000 downloads of the tours from multiple sites, no-one ever comes back with feedback and suggestions......
  10. It is the last mission in the Campaign, so it doesn't actually matter if you dont get a success since there isn't a 7th mission. Sometimes missions don't quite work the way that the Mission Designer intended. Sometimes that is because of patches. Maybe this mission works OK in Lockon v1.00 but not when patched to v1.02, that sort of thing often happens. My advice is not to worry about it, if you killed all the F-16 before they could kill any of the aircraft you are supposed to protect, then you have done what you are supposed to do. If the AI aircraft don't get the Perry ship, then that is their fault not yours! I just flew that mission and the friendly AI seemed to hit the perry and damage it, at least there was some flames and smoke, so I went in and gave it a good load of cannon fire (even though the Su-27 isn't really a ground attack bird) and a little later, it sank. So you could always try that.............
  11. I seem to recall reading on the Forums a while ago that the reason that a consequence of adding in the new terrain for Black Shark was that the Crimea terrain had to be deleted from Black Shark - it was a space / size of files issue. So to add that extra terrain in FC would probably mean you would have to give up the Crimea terrain to have it.
  12. Glad you found it. There is lots of industrial stuff like that in the Caucasus section of the map and the Caucasus Tour attempts to fly you around a lot of it. Many Lockon flyers are not even aware of half the stuff the Devs put onto the map. I'm always impressed by the seemingly endless miles of oil installations from around Krymsk to Apsheronsk, the Tour only scratches the surface by flying past about 100km of them. As for the arch near the coast, well that is not in the Caucasus, it is off the coast of the Crimea, so you need the Crimea Tour! The arch is waypoint 40 - The Rock with the Hole in It. I did the Crimea Tour after the Caucasus Tour and managed to find out a lot more background information about the places, a seperate Word document has the detail and some real world pictures, which show how close the lockon versions of places are... 13. Doubtless they're practising for the next Winter Olympics......
  14. Check out my Caucasus Tour mission which takes you around the interesting sights on the Caucasus part of the Lockon map. There are factories/power plants scattered all over, but open up the mission in the Mission Editor and have a look at waypoints 9, 10, 11, 12. I think your picture is likely one of those. The biggest factory/power plant of all is a triple installation at waypoint 25. Also check out the oil fields and the oil installation at waypoint 15. The Tour wouldve been too long if all the industrial sites were included on the flight path, so I used static objects to mark a few others that may be of interest. Get the Tour from Lockonfiles, link below Caucasus Tour http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&cid=145&lid=62&ttitle=Caucasus_tour_by_Brit_Radar_Dude#dldetails
  15. That is a bit of artistic license by the Modder. You are not the first to be confused by it. That display is not a MFD, it is the TV display for your Maverick missiles and will only ever show you the Maverick display.
  16. The romb or diamond is generated by the Pave Penny laser spot tracker. It is a device fitted to the A-10 in real life so its use in Lockon is realistic (kind of). Here is my standard cut and paste explanation about the diamond. What is the Diamond? The diamond is your Target Designator. It simulates that some forward observer has pointed a laser at the object to designate it as a target. Imagine we have some forward observer or special forces troops on the ground and they have spotted our target. They put a laser on it, and then we see the diamond in the HUD because our A-10 carries the Pave Penny laser tracker. That's the idea anyhow. Why is it there in some missions and not others? If the mission designer has set up an ATTACK waypoint and used the TARGET button in the Mission Editor (ME) to mark a particular target(s), then you will see the diamond as soon as you change to air to ground mode (7). If the target is out of the field of view of the HUD it will have an X through it. If you kill the target and there are multiple targets are set up, the diamond moves to the next target (simulating the friendly ground troops moving their laser designator onto the next target), and finally dissapears when you have killed all the marked targets. Some mission designers might only mark some or none of the targets you need to kill to get mission success, other targets may only be mentioned in the mission briefing. If there are multiple targets in a mission, you can swap the diamond between them by pressing ' key (depends on your keyboard - anyway it is the same key that swaps airfields when you are in NAV - RETURN mode). This simulates you using a radio to ask the friendly ground troops to swap the targets. One thing to be aware of with the Mission Editor is that you can set up a number of vehicles as a group. It is a quick way to set up a convoy for example. But in the context of the diamond, the Mission Editor sees a group (even though it has several vehicles in it) as a single item. The diamond will point to the 1st vehicle in a group. If you kill the 1st in the group, the diamond will move to the next one (the new 1st in group) etc until all are destroyed. You can't move the diamond along the column of vehicles. Doesn't stop you shooting at the back or middle of the convoy, but the diamond will always point to 1st in the group. This can be kinda confusing until you get used to it. Is it necessary to lock on by pressing TAB? All the diamond is doing is showing you where the target is located. You still have to attack it yourself with whatever weapon you choose. If you choose a Maverick then you have to lock it on, but if you use gun / rockets / dumb bombs, then obviously you don't. What is an ATTACK point? It is a type of waypoint, shown on the map as a triangle instead of the usual circle, in the Mission Editor(ME). As you fly your route it does not appear any different to other waypoints to you as a pilot. But used in conjunction with the TARGET button in the ME, it will cause targets to be diamond'ed. If the aircraft is an AI(computer flown) one, then it tells the AI when to begin an attack and what to attack. Do you have to reach a particular waypoint before you can lock on? No, but generally the mission designer will have chosen a particular waypoint (near to the target) as an attack waypoint. Some missions might have several attack waypoints if there are several targets. Before you fly a mission, look at the map, remember which waypoint is the attack waypoint (triangle) so you know where to start looking for the targets you are tasked to destroy. In one of the A-10 training missions there is the diamond to show you where to drop your weapon load but in the other using cannon and rockets there is no diamond. As I said above, sometimes the mission has been designed so there is a diamond, sometimes not. Is there a difference between targets and mission goals? The SUCCESS / FAIL at the end of a mission is caused by having used the Mission Editor to set MISSION GOALS with the icon on the left of the screen that looks like a sniper sight. Not all goals are that some target be DESTROYED, some goals are that a unit, group or target SURVIVES, this enables misson designers to make missions where you have to protect friendly units or defend a base. Having these as seperate actions means that a mission can have SUCCESS/FAIL goals set without necessarily having targets diamond'ed. Two examples - mbot's UrbanThunder which has an attack waypoint, but no TARGETs assigned http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=9039 also my Smerch Hunt mission, which has no attack waypoint at all... http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&cid=61&lid=36&ttitle=A-10_Smerch_Hunt#dldetails Hope this helps..........
  17. It depends what mood I am in and how long I've got. Sometimes I am in the mood for quick action. Other times I do like long missions if there are things for me to think about. A well designed long mission can keep your full attention as you fly to the target area - it can have interesting terrain to fly over in daylight, might be at sunrise or sunset and simply look beautiful as I fly to the target area, might be at night and I suddenly see friendly aircraft dropping flares. I may get spiked by enemy AWACS, long range SAM's, etc causing me to think about what threat they are to me.
  18. I've enjoyed campaigns of only 5 missons, and also campaigns of 30+ missions. For me, it doesn't matter. The important thing is that the individual missions are each a little different and use some interesting ideas. But still keeping a feel that they are all part of the campaign.
  19. The enemy are where I am firing at. If I have tracers mixed in with my regular ball ammo, then you can see the target that i am firing at. Feel free to join in!!

    WW2

I live a few miles from North Weald and am lucky enough to see all kinds of vintage aircraft flying around in the Summer. My grandfather was in the Royal Air Force during the war, stationed in Iceland to help protect the supply convoys to Murmansk, Russia. My other grandfather was a tank driver in North Africa, Sicily, then Italy. He lost 3 tanks - 2 to mines, 1 to an 88.
  21. I remember that one of the German Lockon squads made a Mod to do this (by using the trick Kuky mentioned of adding extra pylons with smoke pods inside the engines). Can't recall which squad it was......
  22. Sulman - how are you using your wingman? Are you using the pincer command? 2 v 2 Long before you are within firing distance have your wingman pincer to one side (left or right) and you go the other direction. The idea is to get the 2 bandits seperated, one will go after your wingman. After a time you turn back into the fight. Ideally you should now be on the beam of the bandit heading for your wingman. Lock him up, order your wingman to engage your target. Kick in the afterburners and race after this lead bandit. Ideally HIS wingman will be a few miles behind the fight and temporarily out of it. You now have a short period of a 2 to 1 advantage over the lead bandit. With luck, this bandit having both of you fighting him will mean he doesnt get off a killing shot at your wingman. After you kill him, then take on the 2nd bandit - again with a 2 to 1 advantage.
  23. I'm old enough to remember seeing the Red Arrows fly them - sigh......
  24. Shackman - see my answer here. It might help you. http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=6446&sid=d20b35aa6558793121d11820590018d0
