Reminds me of something I read a while ago about PacMan. If we really were affected by playing too many video games when we were kids, then we'd all be bouncing around in darkened rooms, eating happy pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. Wait a minute.......

No, doesn't need wings or rotors, that evil grinning little fella looks perfect just as he is! Nicest skin I've seen in a while....

My understanding is that this is due to video card manufacturers not making their newer cards (and drivers) fully backward compatable with earlier versions of DirectX.

You can still find Lockon at bargain prices on Ebay in many countries. I paid full price when it came out. The best value for money of any PC game/Sim I ever bought. Five years on - I still fly it, am still learning, still having fun, still have to force myself to quit because I realised it is 01:00a.m. It still makes non-computer friends who've never seen it go "Wow!".

Track anomalies - missile behaviour
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Sulman's topic in User Created Missions General
Had you used the helmet mounted sight? Dont use tracks much myself, but I think I recall reading (way back when) that tracks can replay differently when HMS is used, padlock as well I think. Could be that in the original you locked him with the HMS, R-73'd him before he could fire an R-60. In the replay, the HMS lock failed, so you never got him. Leaving him alive to R-60 you. -

LOMAC mission editor manual ??
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Razor's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I would say a good way to learn the Mission Editor (ME) is to fly a mission, then afterwards - open it in the ME and look at it to see how the mission designer made it work. Look at the aircraft, vehicles, ships that were used and the routes they followed. Look at the time of day, weather, wind, visibility distence settings he used. Many folks set up a cloudless sky at 12:00 in the summer. The more interestingly designed missions give you a beautiful sunrise or a stormy night. Look at the fuel loads and weapon loadouts and skins for the player unit and the AI. Look at the mission goals. Not every mission is go out and kill something. You can set up defensive missions where the goal is to ensure a friendly unit or base survives by stopping the bad guys. But here is some helpful info and links about the ME that Ive collected over time. Intro Level http://www.xs4all.nl/~nees64/flightsim/missioneditor.htm More complex http://home.hccnet.nl/hmms.janssen/Tutorial_complex_mission.html IRONHAND VIDEO of how to use the Mission Editor http://www.flankertraining.com/ironhand/flightbasics.htm and scroll down to VIDEO :: Getting Started Part 1: The GUI and Mission Editor VIDEO :: Getting Started Part 2: The Mission The Quick Start manual from page 48 onwards has some basic ME details. If you have Flaming Cliffs then this manual is in your Lockon/docs folder. If you only have vanilla Lockon (v1.02) then IronHand has it on his site for you to download, link below,,,, http://flankertraining.com/Hold/LO_FC_Quick_Start_Manual_1.1.zip This post had some useful info in it... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=12608 Later pages of this thread (link below) had some useful stuff too http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/38610606/m/7221059326 I just put down some thoughts of things that may trip you up in the future, not in any particular order. Assigning unit(s) / group(s) / building(s) as targets using the TARGET button from ATTACK waypoints is what ensures the diamond appears in your HUD. Incidentally this is the mechanism by which AI units are assigned specific targets to attack. But the SUCCESS / FAIL at the end of a mission is caused by having set MISSION GOALS using the icon on the left of the screen that looks like a sniper sight. Having these as seperate actions means that a mission can have SUCCESS/FAIL goals set without necessarily having targets diamond'ed. Two examples - mbot's UrbanThunder which has an attack waypoint, but no TARGETs assigned http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=9039 also my Smerch Hunt mission, which has no attack waypoint at all... http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&cid=61&lid=36&ttitle=A-10_Smerch_Hunt#dldetails Be aware that if you set up some vehicles or ships in a group then the Mission Editor treats that group as a single item when you use TARGET button. Once you target it and then try to target another item in the group the mission editor will latch to nearest thing (usually a building) leaving you wondering what is going on. I still get caught out by this with ships as a group of them by default are quite spread out and they dont look like a group. I then try to target a second time and it targets a building a 100kms away! When you have a group targeted then if you kill the 1st in the group, the diamond will move to the next in the group etc until all destroyed then moves to next TARGET'ed unit/group Set SKILL to PLAYER for your own aircraft (you can only fly the yellow aircraft names) If you want wingmen, add more pilots (not more flights) If the mission designer has set up an ATTACK waypoint and used the TARGET button to mark particular target(s), then you will see the diamond as soon as you change to a2g mode (7). If the target is out of the field of view of the HUD it will have an X through it. If you kill the target and there are multiple targets are set up, the diamond moves to the next target, and finally dissapears when you have killed all the marked targets. Some mission designers might only mark some or none of the targets you need to kill to get mission success, other targets may only be mentioned in the mission briefing. If there are multiple targets in a mission, you can swap the diamond between them by pressing ' key (depends on your keyboard - anyway it is the same key that swaps airfields when you are in nav return mode). Problems with other aircraft not taking off from your airbase? If you have more than one GROUP assigned to an airfield then the 2nd GROUP won't appear until all of the 1st GROUP have taken off and cleared the immediate vicinity of the airfield. The way round this is to make sure you are all in the same GROUP. Make the AI jets be one FLIGHT and you in the other FLIGHT. Of course you will share the same waypoints, make sure you are set to takeoff from parking area. Even though you share the same waypoints (of course you yourself don't actually have to follow them), you can be allocated different TASKS and even assigned different TARGET's from ATTACK waypoints. Alternatively, there are some bases very close to others, so you can have AI taking off (or landing) from a neighbouring base. For atmosphere, maybe have a friendly helo landing at your base as you taxi to the runway, have a couple of fuel trucks wandering around the base. Look for missions by a guy in the community called MBot, he is pretty good at adding atmosphere to an airfield with a few well placed static objects and moving AI vehicles / helo's / planes. Run the start of his missions to see how they look, then open them in the Mission Editor and see how he did it. Mbot mission pack link A problem you might find with certain airbases is that your aircraft will start in one part of the base, the AI might be clear across on the other side of the base. It depends on the base, the size of the aircraft - small AI jets will start from a HAS (hardened aircraft shelter) if there are any on the base. Also on some bases, the taxi time from the starting position (HAS or parking spot) to the runway can be a long time, the AI taxi at a fixed speed that you cannot alter. The taxi time can vary from a couple of minutes to over ten minutes  I made an investigation into this - Taxi time link By placing static object aircraft to occupy parking spots, it is possible to amend which spots you/AI start on. If you want some arty to bombard a town/airfield to add colour to a mission, 1) target a co-ord, so arty keep firing. If you target a building, once destroyed then the arty stops firing. 2) if your arty is all in one group, then have same number of targets to ensure each arty in the group has a target to fire at. 3) if you mix the arty types (bereg, msta, nona, etc) then they fire at different rates and looks nicer -
DPS generally comes up with something side-splittingly funny around Xmas time and April 1st. It kinda reminds me of something I made many years ago when I was an student in Manchester living in a house decorated in a style that I can best describe as late Victorian squalor. We had a mouse problem, so a piece of vero-board (picture below if you dont know what vero-board is) connected straight to the 240v mains - alternate strips live and neutral. A small piece of chees resting on some clingfilm in the centre. The mouse steps onto the vero-board and POW. We found one mouse more than 3 feet away!! True Story. Luckily for the Electronic Engineering world, I moved into Software instead.

http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=50&lang=en TekaTeka converted all the Lockon training tracks into video's, so that they can be played with any Media Player and thus remove the problem you mentioned in your post. Link above to JaBoG32 site which hosts them all.

Type 45 ships fitted for (but not with) 2 Phalanx, so I guess they can always add them later if they want. Reputedly, the Aster missiles of the Sea Viper system have excellent anti-missile capability. But a real shooting war is different from clinical manufacturers tests as post-1945 naval conflicts have shown.

Mustang - I think that was actually the recce version, the RA-5C) that they were converted into. It seems to have the underbelly canoe recce pod and also say RVAH-7?? underneath the word NAVY. One of my favourite aircraft - I always had a thing for US Navy jets of the 60's and 70's. I think I still have a RA-5C Airfix model in my loft somewhere..... -

Well from everything I've read on the Forums, it doesn't matter if an XP user has 1.12b since the only extra stuff in "b" compared to "a" is the Vista compatable StarForce stuff which XP will ignore. That is the reason why most Community sites just carry the "b" patch and dont bother with "a", as "b" is good for XP and Vista users alike.....

After finding this for you, I had a go at it and tried the last mission. I had no weapons at all and no wingmen, so you should double check. Might just be a problem on my PC or might me that LTKennedy forgot to do a loadout for the last mission. Not sure what weapons are appropriate for that mission, so I just picked one of the stock loadouts Mavs and Mk-82's.

After you finish a mission in a campaign, go through the debrief screen to the next mission, quit from that one and you save your progress by clicking (top left) "file" then "save". Don't confuse this type of saving with "save states" (ie the save button on the window you get after pressing ESC to quit, I have never had that type of save work, most folks haven't - it seems to be borked). Hopefully, this will fix your problems. But if not, dont worry as there are workarounds, so lets get into those. You can declassify the campaign in the Mission Editor and fly the campaign missions in any order you want (plus change skins, weapon loadout, etc). I use this method all the time to cherry pick the fun missions in a campaign and miss out the dull ones. You can use the same method to progress further on in your campaign. Go into Mission Editor, upper left of screen click on the open button, bottom right TYPE OF FILE select CAMPAIGN, navigate the folder structure to the campaign you want and select it. Bottom right click on MAP. Now you will see the 1st mission of your campaign. Many missions and campaigns are classified with a password so that they cannot be easily/accidentally changed. The stock missions and campaigns that come with Lockon use the password EAGLE. Top left click on EDIT, then DECLASSIFY, enter the password EAGLE. Now all the missions in the campaign should appear on the right hand side, so select the mission you want to fly. If you wish then you can select your aircraft, select PAYLOAD and pick different weapons / fuel load / skin. If you have downloaded any of the excellent missions/campaigns designed by the Lockon community, then some may be classified. Either the briefing notes or the readme file may tell you the password. Some may not. If not, then you can still get into it by overwriting the password with your own. Use keystrokes rather than the menu to do this. Press "ctrl + left shift + C" then type in a password of your choice e.g. 1234. Now press "ctrl + left shift + D" and enter your password e.g. 1234 NOTE that Lockon does not seem to remember this, so you may have to do it each time you restart Lockon Secondly, there is a really useful utility that will extract missions from a campaign (link below) so you can fly them as individual missions. No real difference from flying them in the campaign.... http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?page=detail&ID=2739 Hope this helps.........
