EagletomCZ - might be just me, but getting very, very slow D/L speed from your site. Maybe you could put them onto the movie sections on Lockonfiles.com or JaboG32 ? Get a bigger audience.......

You can remove the grey bar at the bottom when in F2 view by pressing "Y" two times.

It's been on my top 20 list for a long time. 92nd K_A_F by MajorBug is excellent too, I love the shot at about 3:20 where the target aircraft changes type in time to the soundtrack - excellent movie making skills!

Does strength of radar vary with angle?
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to tmdgm's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
There is a limit on how far physically left and right (and up and down) the radar can look due to the movable joint that connects the radar head to the aircraft nose - that is called the gimbal limit. When you are searching for targets, the radar is scanning side to side. The width of the radar beam when it is doing this is a few degrees. When the radar locks onto a single target so it can guide a missile like a Sparrow, it points the radar head constantly at the single target to illuminate it with a very narrow beam of radar energy. The Sparrow homes in onto the energy reflected from the target. It won't make a difference if the target is directly in front of the firing aircraft or 30 degrees to one side. As long as the radar is within its gimbal limits, it will be able to keep a radar lock (unless the target aircraft beams or jams). A common tactic after firing a missile is to manouevre your aircraft so that the target is near the edge of the gimbal limits. The reason? After firing, you do not want to chase your missile directly toward the enemy and close the distance so you are in range of his missiles. Ideally you want to stay at arms length from the bandit to limit his chance to fire back at you. -
A little bit OT: Aircrew Badge
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to golfsierra2's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Good find GolfSierra2. It took over a year for them to agree it all? Reading it made me hate beaurocrats even more than I already did (if that was possible). -

Naturally! Fingers crossed that the trip will happen, be great to meet up with all the other Colorado Lockon nuts. When I'm in Detroit as part of the same trip, I'm also arranging a meet with S77th-ReOrdain for football and beers. M0unta1n6uy - sorry can't help out with your original question about LOATC Eng manual. Didn't mean to hijack your thread......

I'm trying to plan a trip to visit a buddy in Evergreen (near Denver) in Sept or Oct. Have already talked to IguanaKing about meeting up, he suggested a days shootin' down at Dragon Man's in Colorado Springs. Fingers crossed the trip happens - meet some of you for a beer or two.....

Can I come round sometime and see it?

Here is a picture (I think done by TekaTeka) that might be of interest... Once you get to flying the 27 / 29 / 33, then you have the HDD which shows all the airfields and you can use the ~ key (depends on your country keyboard) to swap between airfields when in NAV - RETURN mode.

Looks like someone put Andrews movie up on JaboG32 site, so anyone with RapidShare probs can go there instead http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=28&lang=en -

Andrew, I believe your excellent Tornado movie is still on LockonSkins movie section. http://www.lockonskins.co.uk/?page=downloads&cat=84 Maybe you could put your new one up there for those who have a problem with RapidShare? Mr Wolf was asking for new things recently on this very Forum..... -
He said highway airstrip, so I am guessing he chose a long straight bit of road as the runway. I can recall years ago landing on a road a little North of Krasnodar and there was a circular road junction so I could turn round without ever going offroad and then takeoff again. Maybe Birdy has found something similar somewhere else....

Nice Mod Tekateka! I can recall looking at trying to do that myself 3 years ago and giving up.
-
Mmmm, can't recall you saying anything too bad and your warning level is at zero, so I wouldn't worry. As Konny and Wags pointed out, the key to a good Forum is, folks helping each other out with answers to questions, folks coming up with useful Mods and Tweaks, folks banding together to support each other and deal with problem people. I'm still relatively new (3 years) to the whole InterWeb thing. I think it is wierd but terrific - a total cross section of age, country, occupation but all passionate about a Flight Sim. I live in the UK and help moderate a Message Forum about a Flight Sim designed and written by Russians, on a Community website run by a guy in Brazil and I ask someone in Vietnam to resize their Signature. If I had said that 20 years ago, they would've locked me away !

I have a terrible feeling this thread will get as nasty as the one 3 months ago did..... -
Are you pressing Ctl+R INSTEAD of pressing the FLY button? That is what you need to do. Also, when you fly the quick fly missions, I think they take you straight into the mission which means you cannot record them. If you really wanted to record one of the quick fly missions, use mission editor then navigate the file structure till you find the quick fly and run it from there.

That really, really stretched my awful schoolboy level German language skills that I forgot 99% of about 35 years ago! Managed to get the download though. Really clever idea of how to add in the smokey engines - that is thinking outside the box, impressive....
-
Heh, heh, no worries. I can remember the first time I tried to use a skin I had added with Loman/Modman, it took me ages to figure it out.....
-
I'm sure I recall a post a couple of years ago showing a small building with boxes outside it and someone saying that the writing on the boxes said "Beer"? Mmmm, sadly on closer inspection I agree. Some wishful thinking on my part, seeing what I wanted to see.....

Good eyes. Well spotted, that BRDM appears to be carrying ATGM's?

The thing that trips a lot of folks new to using Modman is that Modman expects the Mods to be left in a zipped format (.zip or .rar). It will automatically do the unzipping for you. Some folks mess up by unzipping. Also be aware that there are one or two Mods out there that are zips within zips, so you have to unzip the "outer" layer yourself, then work from there.
