  1. After you installed the skin with Modman, it should jhave replaced one of the default skins that come with Lockon. Did you use the Mission Editor to select a different skin? Once you are in the Mission Editor and looking at a particular mission, choose your aircraft, click the PAYLOAD button, now you can swap weapon loadout, set fuel levels, pick a skin, change aircraft number......
  2. Maybe you mean Simpheropol? The likely reason that most of the Lockon map airfields are not in FSX is because they are military airfields. I think that Simpheropol is purely civilian. As for the Caucasus part of the map, I would expect Krasnodar Pashkovskiy to be in FSX as I think that is civil also. Since the end of the Cold War, some of the other bases are likely to have converted partially / totally to be civil fields, just like many ex-NATO bases in Europe have.
  3. Thanks for the info...
  4. Good post. It is interesting to see what Falcon looks like. I had wondered about getting it. Now I suspect it is a little too realistic for me but wouldn't have known that without watching this movie, so thanks for that!
  5. A couple of years ago I was updating Shepski's original Map Tour with extra locations and background info and splitting it into the seperate Crimea Tour and Caucasus Tour. I was looking for background info and real life pictures of places on the map, I found this picture of Tuapse (port on the Caucasus coast). I was real surprised to see a soccer field by the docks - must be a real bummer when the ball gets kicked into the harbour - . Looked at the same place in Lockon and sure enough it was modelled.... I was constantly amazed while working on the Tours just how much work must've gone into the Lockon map. The number of historical monuments included in the Crimea makes me suspect that whoever worked on the Lockon map must have lived there or maybe been stationed there during military service. I do get a bit annoyed when folks come onto the Forums after flying Lockon for a couple of months and moan that they are bored with the map and want another theatre, when they probably have only seen 10% of the map.
  6. Dice - Good info! Do you know if these airframes all transferred from a single base / unit that closed or are they from many places?
  7. Never actually played F.E.A.R., but did watch the P.A.N.I.C.S. comedy movies made with it which are pretty funny :megalol: http://www.machinima.com/films.php?series=P.A.N.I.C.S..
  8. Had one bad rep once.... .....but more than balanced out by some nice, friendly reps from all the good guys out there.
  9. The system does seem to remember the last few folks you repped for a very very long time......
  10. You're nothing like I imagined!! - ROFL
  11. Outstanding detective work in tracking the guy down and phoning him. I'm sure that for you it was elementary. I am so impressed I think you deserve a new Sig...... To get serious for a moment - proud to be a member of such a great community as this one. Well done everyone
  12. I was incensed when I saw these. Have mailed YouTube. Have posted on CheckSix in case Dobberman doesn't know about it.
  13. It will only work if you are all from the same country. You need the bomber to be in the same GROUP as you. Simple example, GROUP: AirgroupUSA01 SIDE: USA FLIGHT: 1 of 2 is the bomber - eg B-52 FLIGHT: 2 of 2 is escorting fighters- eg. a pair of F-15's, PILOT: 1 of 2 (you) and PILOT: 2 of 2 (your AI wingman) Set take off from parking area. You should now both spawn on the airbase at the same time. Of course with many airbases, you will be on one side of the base, the bomber at the other. Also the taxi time to the runway for some bases is huge (up to 10 minutes!!). AI always taxi at the same speed, there is no way to make AI taxi faster. You have to pick a base carefully or else use CNTRL/A and ALT/A to accelerate/decelerate the Sim speed. See this thread for a list of approx taxi times for all bases , plus info on which bases will place your player aircraft closeby to the AI, which will always try to start in a HAS (hardened aircraft shelter) if they are small enought to fit. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=10922&highlight=taxi+time
  14. Prefer it. If I fly a mission and I find that I cannot get a reasonable FPS, then I will reluctantly unhide stuff and kill off stuff I don't need. A mission designed by someone who understands the balance between playability and extra units for eye candy probably wont need me to do that.
  15. It allows you to shut down stuff you dont actually need to have running while you run Lockon. Should give more CPU power and free up more memory for Lockon For some folks, use of FSAutostart can lead to better FPS. When you exit Lockon, FSAutostart will automatically restart the stuff it closed down. In addition, you can configure FSAutostart to start up other application software you want when running Lockon, eg TrackIR. Here's a site that has it:- http://www.simradar.com/File/3920/FSAutoStart_v1_1__Build_11_.html
  16. That is an interesting article that Force Feedback found. The part that caught my eye was Burden of readiness, min 3-4 Time of continuous operation, h; up to 6 I'd guess that burden of readiness means it takes 3-4 mins to warm up when you switch it on before it will operate. I would argue that such a system would not respond well to being rapidly switched on and off (which those pesky ECM blinkers on-line are doing). Just my two cents....
  17. I'm sure that a little while ago someone posted details (on this Forum?) of the distance at which GAI tasked aircraft would react.
  18. I thought that might be your problem. If you create several AI flights, then they will fly the same waypoints as you (but a couple of kilometers behind you) but you cannot control them with the radio commands, you can only control the AI in your own flight. Some airports do not have any HAS or Hardened Aircraft Shelters (what you called hangars), so the aircraft will all start from the tarmac. You will find that it can make a big difference which airbase you choose. When you have got everything set up, try adding in a few vehicles moving around the airbase to make it seem more alive. Check out missions by a guy called MBot who always does a good job of this sort of thing in his missions.... http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&cid=120&lid=389&ttitle=LockOn_FC_MissionPack_by_MBot#dldetails
  19. If you are designing an online multi-player mission where you have to make each player aircraft a CLIENT, then they should have adjacent takeoff slots on the airbase. To get everyone taxiing together, each person has to do it. Use TeamSpeak or similar to talk to the other guys so no-one starts taxiing till all are in the game and ready. But I suspect you are talking about a single player mission where you have set up some AI wingmen to accompany yourself, then you have a problem. For most airbases, the player aircraft start on a hard-standing and the AI will start in aircraft shelters, often on the other side of the base. I did some investigation of this a while ago and posted the results. See the message thread below for details of which bases the AI will start nearby and how long it takes them to taxi to the runway. No matter what speed you taxi, they will all taxi slowly - you cannot change their taxi speed. On some bases it will take them 10 minutes to reach the runway! http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?p=110752#post110752 Note that to get the AI to fly in formation with you, they need to be in the same flight as you , ie you create them by changing the number of PILOT's in the flight, you will be the first pilot, the 2nd,3rd,4th will be AI. These are the only AI that you can give Radio commands and make them change formation on you, send them off to attack, get them to return, have them cover you, send them home, etc. See picture below... Big AI aircraft can only be set in flights of 1 aircraft, swap between them in the Editor using the FLIGHT <> button. Smaller aircraft can have a flight up to four, swap between them using the PILOT <> button. But even then, they will not attack in a "formation", they will split up and attack individually, just like they would in real life. Otherwise they are an easier target for anti-aircraft fire. Again I am not sure when you say this if you really mean "player" aircraft, ie other real people in a multi-player on-line mission? I think you might mean the AI wingmen (up to a max of 3 of them) in the same flight as your player aircraft. As I said above they only spawn near you on very few airbases, most they are way on the other side of the base.
  20. Yep, what IguanaKing said. To follow up on his (secondary radar) transponder example, in the 1980's I worked on a long range military search radar, it had peak power in excess of 1MW. It was powered by a diesel generator housed in a standard 20 foot container which easily kept it turnin' and burnin'...... To put it in its simplest terms, a modern pulse radar will send out a (high power) pulse which takes a fraction of a second, then listen for a comparatively long time for a reflected echo from a target. The longer the range of the radar, the longer you have to listen. Whilst the radar is listening, the transmitter can "charge up" ready to send the next pulse. Yes the power of the pulse is high, but the radar is spending most of its time listening. It isn't transmittng (eg) 1MW continuously, so does not need a 1MW power supply.
  21. Also double check that your bomber is actually carrying weapons. If you change the TASK of an aircraft that can zap the weapons back to empty.....
  22. Here are a couple of clues :smilewink: IKEA ABBA
  23. Did the Intrepid on my 1st visit to the US in '87, brilliant museum. On the same trip, I did the tour of the USS Massachusetts at Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA. It was one of those crisp clear cold November days, it was great - my buddy and I had the ship virtually to ourselves. If you ever go to Battleship Cove, allow 60 seconds to see the submarine USS Lionfish and the other 6 hours and 59 minutes to go round the USS Massachusetts, it is that BIG!
  24. Perhaps there are budget problems on MTV Asia's version of "Pimp My Ride" ?? Maybe someone on the show was looking to save some money.
  25. I know **** about making movies, but here's my 2 cents worth of opinion. Liked the sky, but thought there was too much heat-blur - IMHO it rather over cooked the pudding. Nice, I can imagine that style of camera shot in one of your movies. Also nice, subtle hot day feel.
