  1. That must explain it. It would be nice if those that pre-ordered before the extra additions & price increase were announced would get some credit back. We essentially spent $40 to get an F-15 updated + move our other aircraft into World.
  2. I clicked the link in the news thread and place my orders but I get the following: Pre-ordered FC3 at full price. Does it not count pre-orders?
  3. FC3 at number 10 for Steam best sellers at the moment. :)
  4. Flaming Cliffs 3 is currently the number 17th best selling game on Steam. Not bad at all.
  5. Flaming Cliffs 3 is $30. A steal of a price. I am interested in Combined Arms myself.
  6. A friend of mine uses Bit Defender and has this exact issue when updating to 1.2.7. Uninstalled, tried a fresh install. Same issue. Uninstalled, ran Crap Cleaner, and the issue persisted. The Updater freezes. Will try the steps you outlined in a later post.
  7. I recently did this. I copied my Eagle Dynamics folder to my SSD. I then created new shortcuts. The short cuts are different and show the A-10 rather than the DCS logo, but it is no big deal for me. Screen shots still save in the same location, and the latest update installed just fine. That was all I did.
  8. My P-51 CD key will not register on Steam. On ED's website it seems to be binded to my account like all my other modules. I got it a few months back and have been trying to add it for some weeks. Anything else I should try?
  9. I am going to assume the Su-25T cockpit will be done in the coming months. They should update the change list to specify the Su-25T as well. And I assume more 3D models will get reworked. The F-14 is extremely ugly, and the MIG-23/27 can use a new model.
  10. Will owners of FC3 (non-Steam) get the option of plugging in our CD keys into Steam? So far all my modules (aside from P-51) plugged into Steam fine.
  11. Just get a 4670K. You'll spend money on an antiquated CPU that holds the game back. Going from my AMD 9950BE to the AMD 965 helped in FC2, and going from the 965 to the 4670K in DCS World helped a lot. DCS, as it currently is, does not need an extremely fast GPU. It is mainly CPU dependent. I paid $200 for my CPU, $100 for my motherboard, and $49 for 8GB of DDR3 (over priced due to the RAM shortage). I sold my old AMD 965/motherboard/RAM for $150. My motherboard was on sale for only $67 or so this black friday. Since you only play DCS, you're not going to be spending the money on other games. So you may as well put the money towards good hardware to enjoy the game you play.
  12. They claimed multi GPU. More people use SLI these days, but most don't. On the other hand, just about any low end modern gaming PC will have 4 cores. Waste of money in most games, and especially in DCS, as Edge has not been confirmed if it can be use 4 threads, let alone 8.
  13. Upgrading to a 9850 would not be a good idea. A couple of years back I went from a 9950BE to an AMD 965. A few months back I went to an i5 4670K, which was a rather big performance jump in DCS. The AMD 965 was holding back DCS, ArmA 2/3, BF3, Crysis 3, and other new titles. I easily OCed it to 4GHZ. I would dump your motherboard and get an i5, or at least a modern AMD CPU. Because the Phenoms are very old.
  14. I am going to assume it is a modder's work? If so perhaps it can be officially added in if they give their permission to do so? Or maybe it is from ED? It does look a little unfinished.
  15. Harrah's logo looks just like the real one:
  16. Probably during the summer, or maybe there might be a spring sale.
  17. And did this work fine with future updates?
  18. Hello, I am looking to move my DCS World install to my SSD. I am wondering if this can be done without uninstalling the game and then redownloading the game/modules/updates and can instead simply be copied to the new SSD. I am not running the Steam version of the game. Would simply moving my install be possible? And if it can be done, will it use up an activation? I know Steam/Origin works different, but I recently copied/pasted about 60GB of games from my HDD to my SSD which was far quicker than redownloading/reinstalling them.
  19. I think it is more important to finish the modules they already sold customer (FC3) and release the new engine before working on new aircraft. The engine is very unoptimized and Edge needs to be done well to ensure a stable platform for future aircraft. And with the F-15C/Su-27 getting an AFM soon, they will be up to DCS level minus the avionics fidelity.
  20. Is that a yes, the MIG-29 is getting a 6 DoF cockpit?
  21. To clarify, to use FC3 you need: - Copy of Lock On: Modern Air Combat (LOMAC). Flaming Cliffs/Flaming Cliffs 2 is not required. - Non-Steam version of DCS World. FC3 is not compatible with the Steam version. - Download DCS World, download the FC3 module and all other modules you own. Make a mission with a flyable aircraft from each module, then run it. An activation prompt will pop up when loading the game, enter the appropriate CD keys for each module.
  22. Flaming Cliffs 3 requires an install of LOMAC, which you have. It will not run off of a Steam install. It includes the A-10A, Su-25, F-15C, Su-27, MIG-29A/S/G and Su-33. It is a module in DCS World (free, includes Su-25T). The A-10A, Su-25, F-15C and Su-27 have or are being updated with an AFM, 3D model, and new 6 DOF cockpit. These will be sold separately as well for those that do not want the LOMAC prerequisite. The Su-25T will also get a new cockpit, and the Su-33 will get a new external model. We do not know if the Su-33 will get a new AFM or cockpit; likewise for the MIG-29. Because they may not be updated, Flaming Cliffs 3 might be the only way to obtain these aircraft. Price wise FC3 is cheaper as the Su-25/A-10A are each $15 separately. I imagine the F-15C and Su-27 will be that price to, which is $60 total. $50 gets you the same content, plus the MIG-29 and Su-33. Get Flaming Cliffs 3 unless running DCS World via Steam is of importance to you. What I hope would happen in the future: - ED gives the MIG-29A/G/S and Su-33 the same improvements, and puts them on sale as stand alone modules. - Gives FC3 users the updated MIG-29/Su-33. - ED stops selling FC3, gives all FC3 users individual CD keys for all DCS Flaming Cliff aircraft. No one would need a LOMAC install, and FC3 users can download DCS World off of Steam servers, saving ED bandwidth. :)
  23. Keys bought from ED's store are only tied to an account once they are used in game. So if you want to give a module away, have the other person download the module, install it, and then place a mission with that aircraft selected as being flyable. They will then get a prompt when loading the mission for the CD key. Enter the as of now unused CD key. Now it is tied to that account. It is the same with Steam bought CD keys. Gift someone a copy via Steam, copy the CD key in the right menu, load up a non-Steam DCS World install if you so choose, and repeat the process as outlined above.
  24. Various upgrades, new 3D models for units, newer graphical effects, and multiplayer (doubt anyone still plays the old A-10C install). There really is no reason to not plug it into DCS World.
  25. As someone else said, buy extra copies and give them out. I am sure the increased sales numbers can help to.
