  1. A few pic's form flying online with Gibbon, Super61 and one other who I can't remember the name :-( sorry. Was having a great time till I took the tanker out!! Sorry boys...but as we all know, it is 'nails'. Still, freeflight and some fun with peeps online is still THE best way to enjoy this sim. Will be getting my GTX460 soon aswell, so will be able to have shadows and all the other eyecandy in the pictures.
  2. As said read the manual and do the training missions. They are a great help and will give you a better understanding of the system...... ....but just a basic thing, you have the CMS (Countermeasure switch) which will do the following, Forward (7 on keyboard) = Start Program (dispensing) Aft (8 on keyboard) = End program (dispensing) Left (9 on keyboard) = Next program (A-M) Right (0 on keyboard) = Previous program (A-M) The Mode switch on the CMSP needs to be set to 'MAN' so you can start and stop the dispensing and chose the program. If set to 'AUTO' it will do everything for you, but this can waste flares and chaff and when set to semi you chosse when to start and stop the programme but the system choses the program that best suits the threat. Page 405 of the manual will tell you what programs will fire what and when.
  3. Thanks gents. Have managed to create waypoints and add them to my flight plan
  4. Thanks gent's. Have managed to get the waypoint on the TADS, but had to get back to work so didn't get time to add it to the flightplan. Will try that tonight!
  5. Nice one, will try it tonight......I am sure though there was an even easier way? or at least it seemed like it when I did it with VJS161_Fire?? and before anyone say's.....SORRY, I didn't use the search function :poster_oops:
  6. Hi All, Since flying with VJS161_Fire online when he was acting as AFAC and he got me to add a waypoint so that I could find the target, I have not been able to replicate this. Just wonderd if anyone could let me know again how it was done i.e. AAP PAge dial = select waypoint CDU = input northings and eastings AAP Steer PT dial = select Flt Plan etc etc I have been trying to do this as per page 454, 455 of the manual but for some reason it won't work! When I was online I had a waypoint appear on my TADS after putting in the co-ords that Fire had told me via 'Chat' and all I had to do was slew sensors to the waypoint and hey presto, multiple targets. It appeared on my TADS along with the other waypoints aswell. When I was flying with VJS161_Fire as AFAC it seemed so easy. Thanks in advance.
  7. Just a thought......could tracks recorded pre patch be a problem aswell. I haven't recorded any tracks or checked since patching, but the old tracks I have also do not play correctly, but did play correctly before the patch?
  8. I just tried this myself (amazing what you learn on the forums) I set the Preset to 1 and changed the freq to ATC and pressed Load, I then changed the Preset to 2 and set the Tanker freq and pressed load. All I did then was set Preset 1 and could talk to ATC and when I switched to Preset 2 could talk to Tanker. Awesome!!
  9. Nice one...it's great when you get contact!! Still haven't managed a full refuel yet...and as if it wasn't hard enough anyway, now you can break the boom  I always go last on refuels LOL!
  10. There are already many missions out there. I have been downloading new missions and now have about 15 or 16 in my mission folder, some extremely big missions aswell, so will take a while to complete. It's worth having a look in the forums
  11. To make a screenshot press 'Print Screen' button on your keyboard (should be default.) You should then be able to find the screenshot in your User/Saved Games folder. They are not in the same place as they used to be in Beta4.
  12. I think all missions should be done at either sunrise or sunset!!:D
  13. +1...I think a lot of the hardcore fastjet boy's won't come across until a fastjet is made.We got helicopter, ground attack fixed wing.....so if the next DCS module is another helo or ground attack a/c then I think they will miss a trick (obviously they are all over it and I am sure i have read it's a fastjet next)....... ..........all they need to do then is create modules for the KC-135 and AWACS and we will have the whole FSX community across......ED will then rule the planet HA HA HA!!!:megalol:
  14. New patch out and yes it get's better and better...just had my first teampseak flight with the 354th Bulldog's. Thanks again guy's for your patience and a great mission. The learning curve is still at 90' vertical LOL and although the manual is great...it still doesn't beat getting online and trying things out!! Was a very enjoyable flight!! Got some nice screenies and I got one of Colt 1-2 as he flew round the outside of me. Liked it that much it's now my desktop :D (bottom pic) As you can see I keep my desktop very clean.
  15. Just wondering what the default setting is? According to my (not patched) graphics.cfg Treedistance=870. Does this mean the lowest distance will be further than the old default?
  16. Nice vid! but god they make it look so easy!! It would have taken me all that time just to get a foot from the boom :D I have a new found respect for A/A refueling!!
  17. Nice one Alyward...just downloaded the mission and tried it out. Got my first A/A refuel  need to go lie down now!!
  18. As leafer said..... When you first go into the multiplayer screen, you will be in the spectator area. To the bottom right will be a list of aircraft you can get in, with callsigns etc. You will see in the far right corner the pilots names of people who have already taken aircraft. Click on one of the empty ones and it will then put you in that aircraft (good idea to take note of your callsign :D) Once you are in the slot then click Join in the bottom right and it will take you into multiplayer (sometimes the game may be paused so all you need to do is press your normal 'Pause' button)......... and enjoy!! :joystick:
  19. You know someone is gonna come along and say they always use LAN and why isn't it default :lol:
  20. IIRC, when you open up multiplayer, you will see in the top right corner that it will have a drop down box with LAN written in it. You should be able to change this to Internet, and then will be able to see the servers. Just had a look, it will say Source to the left of the drop down menu box. Make sure in that box it says Internet.
  21. It worked well and I think it helped in a way as I could get the co-ords via the chat histroy :D TS3 would be awesome. I have got TARS and TS3 downloaded and am yet to try it out.
  22. Love the way online you can see other pilot's looking around the cockpit during startup and when flying in formation!
  23. and it's 10 euros cheaper :D
  24. Since final release (and don't even go there with bugs, ctd's etc etc, there are other threads for that) I have been flying the sim everynight as much as I can. Trying out new stuff, reading the manual and trying to get to grips with the A10C. At first I didn't have a clue what I was doing, could take off and land without ATC as I couldn't work the radios. Then I figured out radios...well sort off. I can get ATC, I can talk to the JTAC and I can talk to my wingmen.....so for now that will do. Still loads to learn till I'm a ninja Rad Op. I then decided to get a startup checklist, tried a few, liked them, tried to make my own then found one by the paulkriii of the 25th FVS found here http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1122275&postcount=9 An awesome checklist (that you would expect considering the job :music_whistling:) At first it took me about 25 minutes to go through the checklist up to Airborne.. but now I can have it done in less than 10! Haven't got to Egress yet as I am normally on the floor by then.....after a nice bit of freefall LOL By this time I was able to use the TGP and the Mav pages, OK to a limited degree, but I could get a target and get it SPI'd to the Mav page. I would then normally slew the cursor to try and get the Mav to lock until I found out today the TMS Forward Short would lock on and allow me to fire my Mav quicker, thus less chance of that freefall part. After starting online hosting flights just to practice and allow others to practice with real peeps, I then went on and tried another server with an AFAC (many thanks btw for the help and patience, really enjoyed the flight, although short!! and apologies I can't remember the name...think it's 161st Fire or something ). After sending me the Co-ords for my target I didn't have a clue how to find it. After 5 minutes of me flying in a straight line with no communication (still looking for my target ) the AFAC figured this out and told me to put it in the CDU as a waypoint, hey presto, I slewed the TGP, SPI'd, selcted Mav, couldn't lock on as I didn't know the TMS Forward Short at the time, switched to guns and then flew in, took a target out and got some freefall in at the same time!! Keep forgetting they shoot back LOL. As the title says, this sim just get's better and better. It does take some brain power and a steep learning curve, but even though I keep ending up with more ejections than landings...I still get the feeling of acheivement, just by learning how to do another task in the sim, the manual is a must, there a 669 pages for a reason...... ....The moral of the story, if at first you fail, try, try again!! Enjoy :joystick:
