Anyone know where we get the word Beta from??

I saw one at Middle Wallop a couple of years ago. First time I have ever seen one in the flesh (only in the air.) It looked like it was practicing for an airshow and I was absolutely amazed at how the thing stayed in the air. It seemed to go against the laws of physics and I thought the pilot was gonna stall out any minute!!

Gutted!! May have to wait for an airshow....or might even see if the Boss will let me go to the States :lol: I doubt it!

I am looking at organising a day out (visit) for the guy's at my work. We are hoping to visit an airfield in the UK to have a look at A10's. I have tried looking on the internet for Airbases (UK or American) in the UK that may have A10's still stationed there, but most I have found i.e. RAF Bentwaters are now shutdown. At the moment we are looking at Mildenhall, does anybody know where there are other stations in the UK that may still have A10's based there preferably in the South.

There's nothing better than a succesful completion of a mission/task :D Just flew the Guided Weapons Tutorial and managed to complete it with 4 hit's, no problems and got some screenies. Absolutely loving this sim, and the more you learn the more you enjoy it!! First pic is direct hit, second is enjoying some fun in the clouds and 3rd is ILS approach into Bantumi!! All I gotta do know is figure out how not to get shot down and do some real missions on a 2 way range LOL

The Short is how long you hold the button. Not sure of exact timings but if you press TMS Right quickly it will create a mark point when you are in any of the SOI's (Sensor of Interest) If you hold it for longer it will do another action, but in the standard configuration the TMS Right long doesn't do anything. A good example is the China Hat forward with the TAD set as Sensor of Interest. If you press China Hat forward quickly it will expand the field of view, but if you hold it for longer it will Slave all to SPI. The first part of the manual for Cockpit Controls explains the differnet buttons form page 84 to 90.

I just made a board for mine and stuck a pillow on it. All I would need to do is adjust the control base sizes for the HOTAS Warthog. I then put it on my original seat and can take it off when wife and kids wanna use the PC. Super cheap, super easy to make, sturdy enough as it's 2 cm thick wood, but you may need to be careful when getting off as weight of HOTAS could make tip it. I think the main point Lonecrow was trying to make was a FREE recorder. I was looking at FRAPS until I realised it was gonna cost more cash (still trying to save for a TM Warthog :) ) I think most people use FRAPS, but I have never seen a free one without watermarks or some time limit on them!

Went for the new drivers in the end, no problems so far and mot sure if it's just me but Win 7 64bit seems to be running better. I downloaded the drivers and it now gives you the option of a clean install of NVidia drivers so did that. May have cleaned out some old driver updates or something, not sure!!

Forgot to add, I am using the GTX260, so technically an older card. May give it a try anyways.......on Monday. @ Mower, I am trying not to encourage Sod's Law!! I have this weekend booked for DCSW and knowing my luck the drivers will crash the PC, I will spend all weekend trying to get the PC sorted again and miss many training hours on DCSW........:doh:

I have this problem, I am using the DCSBS profile in the NVidia settings for DCSW. Even if you try to add DCSW it won't allow it. Also tried using launcher.exe, but it doesn't help as the graphics won't effect the in sim settings from launcher.exe.

Just wondering if anybody has tried the new 266.58 NVidia drivers. I currently have the 260.99 drivers and am looking at installing the new ones. Just wondered if anybody else has tried them and had any problems?

For me just needed the joystick and throttle in the right place. All I have done is fashioned a seat top with a pillow that I can remove so the family can also still use the PC without the controllers in the way. I'm sure over time it will start to expand :D

As the title says...no DCS for 4 weeks!! I will be away on course and will not be back till 4th Feb. I am hoping DCSW will be released or very near to release when I get back. Hope you all enjoy many hours of flight time :pilotfly:see ya all soon!

I always tweak in sim, this way if you get another sim, or have other sims installed then you don't mess anything up for the other sims. I will only tweak with software if I can't in game. As for will it effect the in game settings if you use CCP, I can see where you are coming from and I would also think it would effect settings (don't qoute :-)) If everything was standard and you made the joystick more responsive with CCP when you went into the ingame setup, the ingame default would actually be more responsive as CCP would be setting the defualt for the ingame settings. (that hurts thinking about that this early in the morning)

Ha Ha...I'm a muppet, should have realised the fourth switch was the one that made me crash :doh: not the windshield heat.

Pity....would love one of them in my bedroom...not sure the wife would be happy though!!

Thanks for the info :thumbup: So when I get the Ekran ice warning I need to put both Static Pitot heat, Ram Air Pitot heat , Rotor de-ice on and what is the fourth one? The Windshield heat?? I take it if the EGT goes above 800'c then I need to worry? I am also thinking the best thing would be descend to warmer air? The more I learn the busier it get's flying this thing!!! :D
