Since 1111, I've been starting the Inverter first, before the battery, because of that blaring warning. Silence is golden. Anyway, I read somewhere that the battery warning was a bug.

Anyone know what the proper pitch for maximum aerobraking? I know if I go over 10 deg, I'm dragging my tail, not exactly aerobraking. lol. I try for about 6 degrees, but I'm wondering if there is a "sweet spot". Thanks,

1.) Set the comms to INT to communicate with Ground Crew (rotary left side aft). 2.) Confirm that there is at least 1 friendly vehicle on base, they are required for rearming /refueling. Since it's a campaign, they should be there, but something to verify.

ED's move into WWII simulation - a newcomer's perspective
Tailgate replied to MACADEMIC's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I particularly liked the rear gunner position in the Avenger as waves of Zeroes engaged. Kept those long Island hops exciting. Dropping torpedoes was great as well. They definitely need a reboot of that sim, or an opportunity for ED/DCS. :D. -
Yeah I noticed it when I tried to drive the tank. No luck.
-
Only suggestion is to add Overcast. I would probably get 1 or 2 FPS. lol

I'm sure you guys have seen this, but this says it all ... for language... :D

That's the downside of manual mode as I see it. I'd rather be flying the plane and ID'ing the threats rather than fumbling around for the correct jamming programs. I'd rather trust the system to handle it.

What do you think about P-51D and Flying Legends?
Tailgate replied to csper's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
If it will have a superior flt model to what you can find in other sims, I have no issues. -
Think I'll stick with Semi mode. :D Btw, I just realized that I'm missing the button depress to manually turn on the Jammer. I'm using a CH Hotas, so I have to figure out another button or Hat switch to use.
-
The flight manual wasn't very clear on this, but does the Jammer continue to operate automatically (selecting programs) in CMS manual mode?

J-dam bomb misses laser designated targets
Tailgate replied to Ramstein's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
How long do you leave the laser on to get the slant range? In RL, I would assume you don't want it lasing for very long if you don't need it for JDAMS. It's also probably the reason for the 8 to 10 second autolase value for LGB's. -
In the original scenario I described, the tank column was only moving at 10 kts, so even from 12,000 ft they were still within the dispersal range during impact. To test it, I bumped up their speed to 20 kts, tracked a tank in the middle of the column, released from 12k and followed the bombs down. It impacted at the last point tracked prior to release which well behind the vehicles. So it appears that the CBU's are performing correctly in CCRP mode and do not magically track moving targets.
-
Ah, Ok, gotcha, You need to set it first to disable.
-
Where do I find this check box? "Disperse under fire" is not set anywhere that I can find in Waypoint or Advanced waypoint options.
-
I'm probably blind, but I could not find any options to disable "disperse under fire". I found Disperse Under Fire in the Advanced Waypoint actions, but no opitions to ignore or turn it off. Where can I find this? Thanks!

Yeah, I'll check the manual, and I agree, 105's in CCRP from hi alt probably shouldn't guide to a Point Tracked moving target after release. If it is calculating lead, it should be calculating speed and direction of the target at the point of release, so any variation of speed or direction by the target while the bombs are in flight, should be a miss. I'll do some more testing and post some tracks. Might be interesting. Eta. I had the HOF set pretty high, 2600, so maybe they were still in range? Anyway, I'll try different variations.
-
If I understand correctly, TGP Point Tracking a moving vehicle automatically calculates the lead point of impact for high alt release? That's what it appears to be doing from my observation.
-
I locked up a Shilka that was in the middle of the column, that's why I stayed at 12K. :)
-
I never thought that CCRP would work on moving targets, but I loaded up some CBU-105's, tracked the tank column in TGP and set a SPI. Dropped them from 12k and it took out a large part of the column.

I've had some pretty funny experiences placing infantry. I have an airfield capture scenario and originally positioned the US infantry behind a 5 story building. The on-base Shilka took out the entire building to get to them .lol. I've since placed them in a reinforced parking area on the airfield and created a trigger to move when the US armor reaches it. Works great. The Shilka doesn't see through it. eta. Where do I find the templates? Thanks.

Active channel faces North (forward), I don't recall an extra position, perhaps Off?

Yeah, I was wondering about the disconnect vs Transfer Complete. I had a single connect taking 8k then tanker tells me to disconnect. It looked like I was topped off so I disconnected. I get in form with tanker and tells me to return to pre-contact? I aborted rejoin. I flew a AAR mission in MP today, got the disconnect again when full. This time I decided to reconnect to see if I could get a few more drops. I connected but no juice.

That's pretty amazing. The sounds are incredibly realistic even the small throttle changes. Hope P-51 sounds as good.
