  2. Counter-Measures-Switch, the little grey one you can hit with your right thumb on the Thrustmaster Warthog Joystick.
  3. As the other guys above me already mentioned: There is no real purpose of owning the training airplanes, other than "owning them" for the joy. Best beginners "training module" for DCS is (DCSW / FC3, followed by the A-10C. In my opinion the F-14 from Heatblur will soon be the best all-round module for new and advanced players, next to the A-10C. - AI WSO buddy that assists you / takes away half the work load in things like situational awareness/spotting, weapons employment and navigation - on top of that: it is a superb jet that can do so many things DCS has to offer - (Air-to-Air / Air-to-Ground / Carrier & airport landings) - shared multiplayer cockpit: ----> Newb buys the F-14 and his cool & experienced DCS friend takes a seat right behind him in the same plane and assists him in taking the first few steps in DCS -> this will be the best thing ever and will practically render the other training airplanes obsolete.

    two years in

I love the MIG. It's just too bad I can not really use it in PVP, as I am practically blind with the current cockpit glass + using VR. ...So it is the only plane I purly fly on non-pvp servers. Nevertheless I do enjoy flying it.
  5. - A "free & western" (clickable) aircraft, maybe even with multicrew option so the more experienced friend can show the noob how to fly the plane, how to land or how to evade a missile, how to spot enemy planes, airports and ground units and so on. - the ability for a module owner to invite his friend to fly with him the same plane on the same server and the same map for a certain amount of time per month - some sort of laserpointer the experienced friend/instructor can use to point towards instruments, buttons and knobs inside a cockpit, so you can show new players where to look at, which buttons you just talked about etc Standard controls for every aircraft that make sense and are not a pain in the *** to revoke (Joystick POV buttons AND EVERY OTHER HOTAS CONTROL INPUT BUTTONS to the view left, right, up actions, multiple wrong axes defaults like rudder axis that also affects pitch and roll and vice versa) so that a noobie with his joystick system does not get p*ss*ed off the very first moment he applies any sort of controll input and the aircraft suddenly starts to wobble into all different directions. Or brake axes : Some axes need to be inverted in order to work as intended. Why? Standard brakes apply 100% brake input to the wheels. Granted, a noob should then be able to see that ---> honestly, those things are such a turn-off for a new player. It is actually not a "big" deal to make these controls useable again yourself (once you know where to look for them) but it makes the whole sim appear unfinished (at best) and a new player is completely confused about what is happening and where to find a solution to the problems he encounters. - a checkbox for the game to automatically delete the fxo and metashaders files from time to time - why does the game performance degrade from patch to patch, anyway? I can't remember any game EVER in my +25 years of gaming where I needed to manually delete some files here and there in order to make it work performant again Speaking of manually deleting files : the following Scenario: Noob tries to join a a multiplayer server for his first few moments "online" with other guys in a flight sim. At some point his game starts to crash for whatever reason - he restarts it and tries to join again ... but now he will always get a crash error message when trying to join the server. Nothing works anymore ... until he deletes all files stored under saved games/DCS.openbeta/Logs. Why can a crashlog file prevent someone from having fun with a game?
  6. The throttle feels weird, I think. @50% Throttle (Thrusmaster Warthog) I am already in the afterburner stage, 10-20% to chill around 80% RPM, 30% and its already over 100% RPM Completely different from any other plane.
  7. Seven posts in a row, champ. I feel nothing wrong with the sense of speed in the game.
  8. Tab (open the chat window) - no text input line, really only used to toggle the chat on/off Tab+CTRL (Write to Team-only) Tab+SHIFT (Write to all players on the server) You can also hit that little switch near the buttom area inside the chat window (it is yellow afaik) to switch between "team-only" and "all players". The chat controls feel a little weird at first but they will feel natural after some time :)
  9. I noticed that too. The image looked superb in only 1.0 PD. ------------------- Having the same problems as all the guys above me. FPS were great @around the merge, were okay before this update and are now rather low with this update + no working ASW. @i7 4770k, 16GB, 11GB 1080ti, SSD, HDD
  10. Hallo!
  14. Guys, I can not tell you how good it feels to read this thread - I am somehow relieved yet still dissatisfied. I stopped playing this sim in 2014 (had other things to do). During the summer of 2017 I had the opportunity to buy an Oculus Rift and tried it out only using an Xbox controller with dcs. I was so blown away: I had to buy the Thrustmaster Warthog, MFDs, Milan's MFG Crosswind and REINITIATED "nolife.exe" In short :all the sim products I now own are all new stuff ..yet I (often) sometimes have exactly the same behaviour with the Warthog Throttle as mentioned here by you. I would therefore say we can safely exclude the possibility of the Warthog Throttle's internal electronics and wires of being loose. Although, there still is a chance that a big stack of Thrustmaster's Warthog Throttles were made with faulty electronics and distributed into the wide world (and we are now the lucky ones owning these things) - or there must be something wrong with the way DCS / Windows handles this situation. I noticed the here mentioned behaviour shortly after I started setting up controls for my Warthog (i.e. binding electrical power for FC3 aircraft on EAC Switch and opening/closing cockpit on the Radar Altimeter Switch -> I find this funny cause there is one guy in the beginning of this thread who practically mentioned "a sudden opening of my canopy + loss of electrical power", which of course is exactly the same thing that now happens to me :D Oh man, my face when it occurred for the first time.. priceless. Now, I actually also have another problem right now: With the latest two patches I am also having lots of timeouts in multiplayer (unwanted disconnects). I'm not too sure whether both issues are somehow related to each other (specifically: if this issue with the Warthog Throttle ultimately causes the disconnects from server / connection timeouts). I therefore want to ask you: Do you have lots of connection timeouts recently (you are getting disconnected from servers, press "OK" and you can still see the server being online / people playing on it in the server browser)?
  15. Connection timed out just a minute ago. Other than that it did feel a lot smoother and stable, though (until now :D). Hopefully it really doesn't happen as often anymore.
  16. Finally! Can't wait to play on it after you updated it :)
  17. Hi Mirknir! Im often playing on this server since around June 2017 and I enjoy it very much. Always wanted to find a moment to finally say "thank you" to you for providing us / me with this server, it's mission and all the fun and cool people I had and met there. The new mission time + general atmosphere with the latest version looks really good, thumps up for that! ------------------------- Wanted to give you a small, personal impression out of the eyes of a "new" player in multiplayer on your server: I find it a very nice mix between all the different kind of aircraft. On one side I find it very good that practically every kind of module is available to fly - especially for a newcomer like me it is nice to know that you can fly everything you want at practically every given time on this multiplayer server. I am not so sure why people pick the world war II fighters, though - I sometimes find myself picking up a target on radar, shooting it from afar, only to then realize I used an Aim7/120 against a Spitfire... in these moments I am really unsure whether it is the Spitfire's pilots fault to fly that plane in that specific area or whether I should feel bad for ruining someone else's experience with something he practically had no chance to defend against. Maybe older planes should be able to fight in their own "reserves/zones" where aircraft of different tech status get expelled from (just the way it happens once you get too close to the enemy's airfields). On the other hand I have seen WWII fighters killing helicopters or even a Su27 once which obviously made the people go crazy in the chat ;) ... so maybe those outdated aircraft get chosen by more experienced pilots, who, even though aircraftwhise anyone would bet against them, still kick a** with them against anyone unaware. Out of my noobish-eyes, I'd say the general balance between fighters is quite good. If at all possible, my only request was to forbade the AWACS from saying "merged" when a older type of aircraft (mig 21/f5..etc) somehow manages to sneek up on a later one (f15/su27/mirrage) - but I don't know whether it is possible at all. The ingame briefing page is cool but feels unfinished. Took me quite a while to understand what the red and blue smoke meant, that there are certain forward airfields where one can find aim120s/r77s etc. Maybe adding those little hints to the briefing would make the start more comfortable for newer players than it was for me - on the other side through asking all this stuff it got me in touch with other (more experienced) players .. everything has its pros and cons. Thanks once again for all the fun I had in these 3 months ;)
  18. "Ich stürze ab - holt mich hier raus!" Schade, dachte zunächst, dass es eventuell etwas interessantes wäre. Der Trailer zeigt aber doch schon recht schnell, auf was für ein Gelapp man sich einstellen kann.
  19. Still very disturbing, though. I'm trying to get back into this wonderful Sim, now that the su 27 AFM is released and things like the absence of the breaking axis make me feel a bit sad. Looking forward to a fix. :)
