  1. Another idea, especially for Manpads, is to have a location box that can allow them to be anywhere in the box. Allows uncertainty each time you do a mission Might not be doable with respect to collision detection.
  2. The problem that missions face is the variablility needed to REplay a mission Allow the designer to vary the start time +/- xx minutes for the AI's - Even down to Zero Vary each waypoint by +/- xx minutes
  3. Check out the GameDev web-site - http://www.gamedev.net/
  4. They killed my Lockheed Kitten-35 sim. It was purrty :P
  5. Some efforts gone into Ground AI - You can find that page here
  6. To answer the original question about performance: You can find that page here
  7. Totally forgotten all about SoW:BoB I've played Bioshock, Quake Wars, and just got The Orange Box Oops, forgot about UT3 and just picked up CoH:Opposing Forces I've got enough for more than a short while.
  8. How well does L.O.S.E. work with Starforce? :D Quite frankly I'd prefer Starforce to someone monkeying around on the client side with hard-coded values that seem to require ED to patch after the release of Black Shark. At least we know how Starforce can screw up our gaming experience and that ED has sacrificed some profits and potential buyers for their anti-piracy fantasy. This L.O.S.E. just sounds like a griefing tool that seems to require ED to patch after the release of Black Shark. I won't use it.
  9. Enough so that you'd crash-land or flame-out and die? It's not valid to where you're dump fuel knowing that you expect to crashland with a risk of death. Or we mixing up an artificial head-to-head with the real life contingencies of making it back to base both with fuel and alive. There are are also different RL levels of success that we're willing to accept in RL. You've dumped fuel(with a dangerous crash-landing expected) but eject to safety in your own territory - I'd chalk up as a win in RL. But it'd be a loss in the sort of competition the OP was talking about My message was the artificiality of the OP's forces a series of rules that pull it further away from asking what's real to merely what's legal or ethical. Makes new rules and move on.
  10. Certainly an valid move if it's an artificial set-up - starting in the air, agreed meet-up, or requiring co-ordination between the 2 sides to meet at a certain place. If you don't like that the fuel-dumping is too gamey, just make up additional rules - landing at designated bases, minimum fuel percentages etc. Chalk that up as a legitmate win for your opponent and get back in the air to have more fun. Pfft, let him have his win - we don't need no steenking lawyers to re-argue everything. How much money did he take from you? Not valid if it's part of a mission where the pilot would be expected to get back to base with as much fuel as possible. This makes an assumption that, in the mission, there's the reasonable fiction of a full theatre of war.
  11. Bug!!?? What do you mean Bug??!? I turned it into a feature for a Star Wars A-10 mission. Click on Download Missions at my Mission Page in my sig and try A10 Death-Star Run - young Luke, you've got to stop the plans of Lord Vader by destroying the Death-Star. The briefing is chuckle-some. Should be OK to fly with both 1.02 and 1.12.
  12. About the future of a BS that doesn't have FC campatability, both ThomasD and I had done a little whining in a thread on SimHQ. One concrete thing from that thread was that: If there's no backward compatability for the old FC missions, a FC+BS combination would require new content(Su-25T missions/campaigns) to be created from scratch. That is an interesting tidbit to be tossed into the stewpot of possible choices for the ED team and the final shape of BS.
  13. I'll just make up some story about night-vision goggles and a shipment of Ballz energy drinks. As Iglas are part of the ground threats that the Ka-50 is facing, they should think of tweaking that in BS. DOT range thingy calculation.
  14. Thanks a lot guys
  15. I'm setting up a pre-dawn attack with my Su-25Ts on the outskirts of a town crawling with infantry that have Igla manpads. Can my planes be acquired by Iglas in real life at night? In the game? Thanks.
  16. Maybe it gets so hot, they can fry some eggs in there.
  17. There's also the KEYPAD_0 that I use all the time for a heads-down cockpit view. Even though I've got TrackIR, I occasionally use it. CHeck the guides in my sig.
  18. Unless they doing more than 100kmh, they'll not have gone too far. It's even easier when they are travelling on a road. Just note your heading and add 180 degrees and never hurts to extend your egress a bit. It gives your lasers time to cool.
  19. I do still use them in missions becayse they show up in the mission results(press " ' ") as part of mission objectives. They can be part of Success/partial success/failure)
  20. To clarify on copy protection: For the BS+FC installation, I meant that if I can't work on 1.1 missions in BlackShark, my usual option would be to copy over a version of FC(before patching in BS) to another directory. But if the CP is too stringent, that might not be possible. Lots of questions to resolve on that and I'd like to give my 2 cents worth. And if the BS+FC version cannot load the 1.1 mission/campaign files, then all the FC campaigns/missions are useless. Thanks for the update, Wags
  21. Overall, I'm looking forward to an improved mission and campaign experience. Updating the ME would offer a lot that I could play with. Especially some variability of mission timings. Most likely I'll focus on the new Editor and the BS helicopter and leave FC behind. But I would like mission loading of the FC missions so we could convert them to the BS system. It's really going to depend on the compatability issues for creating new FC Su-25T missions. I might want to have TWO separate installations with FC and BS - but the copy protection systems might screw that up. And I hope they keep in the campaign-movies feature. Even though only my campaign with movies comes to mind, it was a nice cool feature that, with an increased interest in the campaign, could offer cool stuff and better immersion. And they don't need to be full "Top Gun" features. I just had a guy talking and some maps & photos. And the movies didn't need to be "Top Gun" extravaganzas; I had had a guy talking with maps & photos - see My Missions Page in my sig for a sample.
  22. I can get to http://www.lockon.ru/ and the forums and I can log in. I also accessed the 1C site as well. But what other site are you talking about? They've had more than a few problems with their ISPs
  23. No, if it's off-line, the gold-farming has begun. They'll camp Sochi-Adler for a Su-25T to drop the +1 Gunpod of Striking. Don't go near as you'll be ganked for your TrackIR4 :smartass: :clown:
  24. Wonderfully crafted... exciting look at a possible Running Man ... good display of Black Shark We don'need no steeking announcements Stupendous achievement from a great :director:
  25. That A2G server was my favourite - different types of missions, all technically challenging Hope you're in the air soon
