Our Incoming MiG-29A vs Non Warsaw Pact Variant
F-2 replied to Horns's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
It’s probably ECM and IFF which is pretty normal for every export radar. -
The reality is the F-16 wasn’t going to do much without support. In Lebanon and the Gulf they were on a very short leash while Eagles handled air superiority. Still given the limitations of the Floggers sensors it wasn’t hard for a Viper to get close and hit it with a sidewinder. Here is a Pakistani F-16A killing a MIG-23MLD it just flew up too.

Mig 29 Air to Ground Ability and Weapons?
F-2 replied to Mad Dog 762's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
It’s got a lot of thrust for getting the hell out of dodge when things go bad which is nice for an attack platform. -
Mig 29 Air to Ground Ability and Weapons?

Pretty decent dumb bomb rocket platform. It’s proven itself pretty able in recent events. -
The Eagles did. BVR was kind of a crap shoot at the time with AIM-7F and R23 being pretty limited. AIM-9L and Python 3 getting most of the kills.

Expectation on Air to Air missiles of the MiG-29A?
F-2 replied to pepin1234's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum

They realistically never got close enough to matter. The one WVR engagement between an Eagle and Fulcrum had the Fulcrum on the defensive the entire time. Far more telling is that inspite of occasional getting detection or locks no Fulcrum ever fired their decidedly not export R27R at a collation aircraft.

Early access list looks pretty good.

RDY.pdf my translated paper on RDY by its designers. honestly it would be nice to have some aircraft that can use MICA.

Got the radar manual their are a couple papers with details of the flight control their is a report in dtic it’s probably the regular MiG-29 cockpit but during the visit to MiG GD engineers had access to the MiG-29M/K flight sim, it might be worth requesting ADB171690 MiG 29 Cockpit I would love the old Flanker 2.5 MiG-29K restored

my guess is ED was given full access by either Lockheed or the airforce to a sim like this. That’s what the FAQ sounds like.

The Iraqi foxbat had those mods and it’s in the manual that the Soviets provided. The Iraqi Mirage F1s were also better than their French counterparts. They definitely were a demanding customer. Too much is made of difference in my opinion.

https://www.f-16.net/aircraft-database/F-16/airframe-profile/2045#google_vignette https://secure.afa.org/joinafa/AFMag0116/files/basic-html/page27.html the very first “Big Mouth” F-16 interestingly was the only MSIP II F-16 to get a kill in USAF service.

First page distribution unlimited https://www.researchgate.net/publication/312498396_Evolution_of_the_USAF_Aircraft_Structural_Integrity_Program_an_OEM_perspective block 40 and 50 are just about the same weight Block 40 on have a heavier airframe because the block 30 failed structural testing https://books.google.com/books?id=ZA5QMKQThU8C&pg=PA595&dq=f-16+block+25&hl=en&newbks=1&newbks_redir=0&source=gb_mobile_search&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiL5vrO9634AhWbEGIAHW38C6o4FBDoAXoECAIQAw#v=onepage&q=f-16 block 25&f=false

Arguably the best performing Viper over all. Does a degree per second more at sea level then the block 50 and nearly two better instantaneous. Still has very good acceleration, a second less then the block 50 subsonic, a bit more above. biggest downside is it basically is a block 50 with less capability. You can do every a block 30 could in a block 50 today, same workflow. Compared to say the block 40 which has its own unique capabilities. super cool, might be the best sustained turning jet we could get.

Our Incoming MiG-29A vs Non Warsaw Pact Variant

Iraq’s migs were not equipped with R-73 but they were capable of using them. The Iraqi Fulcrum was a 9.12B and it was specially de modified the Soviets simply didn’t include it.
