Hi there - I posted in the Helios sticky in the "Home Cockpits" sub-forum but posting here in the hope someone can steer me in the right direction. I did this after following Capt Zeen's "Helios Beginner's" video after an unsuccessful first test: Now if I try to run the profile in the Helios Control Centre (with either DCS running or not running), then the Helios Control Centre crashes instantly. This didn’t happen prior to following the above quoted section - though DCS was not connecting to Helios either - but at least it didn’t crash and the pretty panels showed up! I’m a super newb at this, would appreciate your recommendation. More info: Running Win 10 64 Tried deleting HeliosSettings.xml as per another thread - no joy. Saw something about enabling "Aero" but not sure this is a Win 10 thing - and, it did run the profile originally... Also tried uninstalling Helios and re-installing - when I run the Profile Editor the option to select the F/A-18C interface is no longer an option (all the other aircraft appear) - it's simply not in the list. I have recently been fortunate to acquire a second hand Dell 2418HT touch screen, which is awesome - I'd be pretty stoked to be able to use Helios with this as my second monitor. The main screen is a 46 inch TV - both "monitors" are running at 1920x1080 and when I was initially able to load the profile (without it crashing) it looked awesome - very keen to get this working and would appreciate some recommendations. Many thanks.

Some more info - I have uninstalled and reinstalled Helios - no joy - Helios Control Centre continues to now crash whenever I try to run the profile. Also, if I try to "add interface" in Helios Profile Editor, there is no longer an option for FA18C.

F18 HOTAS (continue update)
Joe Lighty replied to WINWING's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The new videos are awesome. Pretty excited about this! Nice work, WINWING! -
That is an excellent idea and really well executed! When I get these pedals (one day!), I'll be doing the same!

TM Cougar & CH magnetoresistive/ hall sensor kits

Interesting gimbal you’ve got there! Is that an Uber? -
TM Cougar & CH magnetoresistive/ hall sensor kits
Joe Lighty replied to rel4y's topic in Thrustmaster
Just some feedback on the magnetoresistive sensors for the Cougar joystick: I ordered these from rel4y and he sent them quickly from Germany to Australia - I've just had the chance to install these and they truly are "plug-and-play" - beyond that, my Cougar didn't even need to be calibrated - perfect upon installation - the axis are SUPER smooth. I have breathed new life into my previously "spiky" Cougar - ready for DCS F16. Awesome product, great price and service - highly recommended! -
Did you read his post?
-
Yep - beat Thrustmaster at their own game and get an F-18 stick out before they manage it!
-
I’m afraid I have to agree with you, Gatchaman...

Virpil told me that V07 was for the T-50 Throttle - I wonder how old my T-50 joystick base REALLY is! I ordered mine in early Oct 2018... Serial number is 001106 - what sort of numbers do you guys have????
-
Just confirming, I'm talking about the T-50 joystick base - NOT the throttle - you??
-
You motivated me to have a closer look - and with some bright sunlight (vs the dimly lit room when I last checked) you can indeed see that V05 is printed on the PCB. Note the only difference is the presence of the white plug receivers on the PCB. Obviously a tad disappointed that my "new" T-50 has a slightly older PCB - though that probably explains the rust on the springs, cams and rollers... I am aware PCBs are often updated for manufacturing efficiency reasons, not necessarily to improve anything about the unit's performance, but then, who knows in this case! Anyway, as per what Swine said, it SHOULD be easy to quote the serial number to Virpil and them to respond definitively with what version PCB you have - this has not been my experience... To recap on where I'm at with my T-50 and WH combo: I can now calibrate, but only if I allow the "OFFSET" value to auto-select - the raw values for "centre" for x and y axes are different, but it seems to work ok. I'd really like to know more about WHY this happens, it didn't occur when I first got the base and I'm trying to find out why this situation has eventuated. I should add that VIRPIL are assisting me via their Support network, but it is a bit of a trickle feed of info, sporadically every three days or so and has so far resulted in me returning with further questions that then take another 3 days to respond to. I love the T-50 for its gimbal and smoothness/accuracy, but I've still got a way to go to make it right. I intend to write up a full review with photos etc when this is all sorted!!! Thanks again to Seb for his extensive efforts to help others like me with this - really good of you to take the time to disassemble your own unit and photograph the PCB - cheers!

Thanks - this at least lets me know that V5 is the latest for the T-50 base. Appreciate you posting this! However, I still have outstanding issues and zero response from Virpil... I am grateful for the community advice here, especially from Seb71 - thanks.
-
Have had a look inside - no indication on my PCB that indicates what version it is. No response from Virpil support for 3 days now...
-
Will do, thanks for the quick advice...

I've also had a bit of a win here - but the result is that I can only calibrate with the x-axis "OFFSET" set to "TRUE" - what does this mean, the manual does not expand? I really don't find this software intuitive at all... Also, what PCB version should I be using? I think it was originally on V06, but now appears to be on V05 - I can't remember changing it... Also, my T50 is only a few weeks old - wouldn't it be a newer PCB (eg V07???)
-
Yep, same issue for me - what is your raw output on the x axis on your axis screen in VPC config tool? Nothing I do seems to fix it - always reading around 58630. Looking forward to some word on a fix...
-
I think they're REALLY busy at the moment - support via Ticket has been slow for me...
-
Thanks, Don - might be the way to go!

Hi guys - have posted on the Virpil Support forum, have had no luck sorting this - the forum there is not regularly frequented at the moment - to be fair, I've only been chasing some help for 48 hours or so there. Seems to be more activity here and plenty of brains! Anyway, recently received an T-50 base and have mounted my TMW stick on it. Originally worked fine, except the axes were reversed - from the Virpil Forum Seb pointed me to the Inversion setting within the Axis settings - fixed that but now, for some reason, my x axis is permanently at 100% - raw value reads approx 58630 all the time at centre. Full left is 55799 Full right counts up from 58630 (centre) through 60000/0 and then up to 1650. No matter how much I try to recalibrate, the centre is reporting at approx 58630. Have tried factory reset and no luck. At one stage it seemed to lose track of what PCB version it was - I think I've correctly chosen PCBv5 - but given the stick is only weeks old, shouldn't I have the latest?? Drop down option for PCBv6??? As an aside, I'm not a guru at this stuff, but I'm not stupid either. This software is the most counter-intuitive stuff I've come across! Any help would be appreciated as I'm grounded at the moment!!

TrackIR 5 Setup Questions (FNG)
Joe Lighty replied to Phil73805's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No, it doesn't - I'm pretty sure Phil is correct, the pitch bars shouldn't be off to the left! * Not sure how to fix it, sorry... -
I'm constantly in awe of how clever some of you guys are - well done, looks excellent!
-
Yep, I was wondering that too - it's been the 19th for me for 22 hours now... All I need is a TMWH Throttle base for the Virpil Desk Mount!
-
Awesome - finally got to order a T-50!
