  1. Yes SOH great thread and fantastic help. Got my setup optimized following also your guide and shared methods. It is a very easy process now to confidently change settings or update mods or DCS versions and see the actual impact, just as long as I keep a good administration. Which is a piece of cake now with my excel. I pretty much started with everything inside DCS turned down as my bottom line and looked what every setting did to my personal experience. It turned out that quite some mods are welcome improvements and lots of settings can stay quite low, because they are good enough. I prefer absolute smoothness and instrument+distance clarity over pretty much everything else. In the heat of the game there is no time to look at pretty landscape anyways.
  2. Will post a link to the table I am making with all my settings. Am running FSR.
  3. Thank you and thank you for creating the baseline track with all the data. It really gives a strong and clear benchmark reference. I ran 3 quick tests and see there is some potential performance to be gained if I take a 5-10 % performance difference between the 3080 and 3090 into account. 4. Okay got it working and running the same tests. Compiling them into a table. Thanks!
  5. Thank you very much. I am using FPSVR, but always make quick screenshots to get a rough idea of where I am at. I just play a stock mission and record a clip with OBS, then take a screenshots from within OBS at exactly the same moment of each clip. Never knew about the csv. Will follow your instructions and see what it gets me. Much appreciated! Here is the last time I made a comparison with the mods.
  6. Would you mind explaining the test you are running and how to get to the end results? I would like to jump on board and run exactly the same tests, so I get a clear understanding of where I am at with my rig in relation to yours. I ran my own tests before based on something else and then it is hard to compare. I have pretty decent hardware specifically bought for DCS and ran through a lot of guides, but have the feeling something is seriously off when I see your stats. Thanks a bunch,
  7. Yeah but that's not it. I do it by the book and still sometimes the engines won't start by throttle alone.
  8. Shaders mod not working anymore, shadow mod not working anymore. All these beautiful things to get the sim playing smooth are being taken away. What's next?
  9. Sometimes when starting from cold and dark I can just put the throttle to idle after APU has geared up and this starts the engines. Othertimes It does not work and I have to motor them. Why is that, anybody knows?
  10. Okay, So my frametimes are quite degraded after the last DCS update where the VRShaders mod is not working properly anymore for the moment. Since I am eager to jump back in and have some decent time in the sim I was wondering what would be the next best thing to configure. So I made a couple of quick recordings of mod-combinations to see how things compare at the moment. I just started a stock mission (A-10C II cold startup) and waited for a specific moment (where another hog takes off and flies right in front of my HUD) Everytime the same spot. I grabbed the screenshots from OBS recordings and did some quick work with Paint. So excuse the messy look. Numbers are clear and because everytime the same it should be fair to compare these. Okay okay, lots of orange lines, but normally it is most in the green up in the air. I am not going to mess with settings in DCS, WMR, PD, Nvidia, FSR, bla bla bla, to turn things down and in the green, because everything was working fine and it was tuned to work very smoothly. I don't think it should be a good practice to downgrade settings. I will add my observations tomorrow. By the look of things the VR performance has taken quite a big hit. I know this is OpenBETA, but the whole online community is using it and my flight group and most servers do the same, so I have no real chance of flying multiplayer in an older version or going to stable. 11. I am experiencing the same thing. The Clearwater + hotfix is triggering that DX11 error. So I switched to the IC-pass version. But now it seems to be actually slower than running DCS without this shader mod. Tried the Simplex version, which is also not good. Am going to make a couple of FpsVR screenshots to put them next to eachother.
  12. Solved it. Was pointing the custom path in the config tab towards my saved games folder. I pointed it towards the install folder and now it works. Dum dum dum....
  13. For me this is not a solution. So after yesterdays DCS update I did something wrong probably and now I am having the same issue, which I can not resolve, even after trying all the tips I could find online. In my PTT tab DCS's module is not appearing and inside DCS the comms menu keeps blinking every 5 or so seconds. The following things I tried but did not solve the issue; 1. DCS repair while VP and VA were closed. 2. Removed the export.lua from the scripts dir. 3. Adjusted the custom path in config tab, punched the set button and fixed the reg. 4. Pressed export on the Config tab and manually copied the files in the saved games folder. When I remove the export.lua and restart VA, it right away creates a new export.lua file in the scripts folder. (edited) I see that VP creates two different folders inside my saved games. /dcs.openbeta (with a bunch of files and folders) and /dcs with a mods and scripts folder as well. is this how it is supposed to be? Have no clue how to solve this
  14. Tnx I understood from some steam users that this does not work for some reason or the other. Am not using Steam so have no idea.
  15. No worries, the problem is that a bunch are using DCS via Steam and get updates forced down their throats when starting the game.
  16. Thank you very much!
  17. This link does not work anymore. Where could I create a sig? Thanks,
  18. Yes I run Skate Zilla's DCS updater but no, I can not play without the update when the servers are updated. Yesterday this did not work. My issue is not with my own client by itself, but with the group as a whole, who have to coordinate all updates at the same time, otherwise we can not fly as a group. I am wondering how other groups deal with the coordination of updates and if there are options out there to technically delay forced updates which come down through Steam. Thanks
  19. Hi so I don't know where to really drop this, but the flight group I am playing with has Wednesday's training night and every couple of weeks we run into the Open.Beta updates, which are great, but has an impact on us. Steam users get forced updates, servers need updating and if the stand-alone installs are not updated you can not join updated servers anymore. Because we are from different regions/countries we don't get the updates at the same time it seems as well. This causes quite some hassle every other Wednesday because we have to scramble to get our updates sorted out, because we all need to be on the same version for things to work. Me personally I also run some additional mods and need some time to sort them out as well. The easy solution would probably be to NOT fly on a DCS update day, but there is a reason we fly on this day. Another solution could be to collectively being able to not auto-update and run our updates on the next day, by postponing the update by a couple of hours. I understand there is an update time-window setting inside Steam but not sure if this works. Myself I am using the standalone version. Any other group figured out a practical way to deal with this? Thanks,
  20. I am not using the keyboard in VR, breaks the immersion.
  21. Yes 3dmigoto is what I meant. Thanks, will give it a try.
  22. I see you are running W11? Did you not get a performance hit? Am running Ryzen myself and am very hesitant to jump on the wagon.

    Cheers

      speed-of-heat

I don’t run amd, as is clear from my sig.  I get no performance hit nor any benefit in w11…

Microsoft has acknowledged that there are some issues with some AMD processors, and there is a fix in the latest beta flight, if I was on AMD I would likely wait until that was released (ymmv , but my understanding is that is aimed at next patch Tuesday, from public domain sources).

Yeah I know about your rig, just wondering. Will wait it out a bit.

  23. Yes this is really bad. Crazy drop in frames and lost for words. Why would ED do this?
  24. Which mods? Animoto? Am thinking of checking it out.
