The basics of successful two-ship employment
Ready replied to Kippy's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Such a great source of information! Thanks for writing it up and sharing it. Like your style! -
Tried it too in a hog. Just for fun. Had to execute a high altitude dive to gain enough speed to touch 500KIAS, the max I think.

They are all excellent! I am currently recording the Iron Flag. See link in my signature. I flew the Maple Flags BFT campaign as well. Highly recommended, all of them.

I find the taxi light to be very dim in VR compared to for example the hornet's taxi lights. I sometimes just keep the landing lights on because these are a bit brighter, or I switch to NVG. Is the taxi light suppposed to be dim like this? I don't know if this is a bug or if it is like this in real life as well.

Hahaha that's funny. Thanks for the comments and for your service (if I understand you correctly) You are right but I was not referring to movies. I was talking about my experience during this specific mission. I did not see anything in front of me and just a few seconds later it appeared under me. I understand this happens in real life. I guess he heard me and just crawled from under a rock or out of a cave. You quoted my first post and since then I added some explanations and had a conversation with the missions creator in this thread. My original post started out of frustration because of the combination of long travel with these spawning manpads (which of course is also how it can be in real life). Since then I also flew quite a couple of nice manpad dodging exercises, even recorded a video of myself flying around an airstrip filled with a bunch of them and dodging their missiles at very low altitude. So much fun!

missing info Targeting Pod "Wanders off"
Ready replied to Morat's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Yes I experience this too, which is why I try to consider the TGP when maneuvering and if neccessary just drop a markpoint. -
The Iron Flag campaign has a very nice ILS mission with good voice over explanation. I flew it yesterday, video starts at ILS part.
-
It is a very nice touch. I only noticed it in VR. Looks really nice!
-
I use the 5mil CCIP Consent to Release mode for that. Or is this better?
-
Thanks, will do!

Okay next time it happens will send the track.

Hi sometimes for no apparant reason the Autopilot can not be engaged anymore, while flying within AP parameters. Random errors are switched off. Cycling EAC or other systems does not help. Tried all 3 AP modes and AP switches on both the throttle and the button on the left panel.

First Impressions and some feedback on the ATC
Ready replied to MrDieing's topic in A-10C Iron Flag Part I Campaign
Good points! Noticed a couple of them too. I also strive to have it as realistic as possible, your comments are spot on. Very cool and kudos to you for acknowledging the items and giving some explanation. Understand the limitations within the sim. We are all learning here and having a good time. Great job on the campaign! -
Cheers. Your search skills are better than mine! I tried searching, but came up with 1000+ results. I could not manage to search only within a sub-part of the forum. Any ETA on a fix? Would be really nice to have this properly working. Preset switching on aft radio is also strange. It does not display the switched preset freq, but maybe that is by design?
-
I loaded about 4-5 presets on the ARC-164 UHF radio. When switching presets the frequency status indicator window does not consistently display the preset's frequency. Many times it stays the same. I sometimes depress the status button to see if the radio actually switched to the right frequency. This works. But then the display frequently switches back to the original frequency. Sometimes the frequency status indicator window shows the correct frequencies when toggling(they switch as I switch the presets), but most of the times it does not.

investigating Mission 5 Experiences

Hi, AM 145.00 is not in the kneeboard. Do you have a timestamp for the radio issue in my video? I sometimes forget to switch on a radio or set it to the wrong freq during the radio check. I am also not always getting 100% score. For me it is about the learning. I also don't know why I only get 75%. -
Great mission again!! Nice flying and maneuvering inside rainy clouds. Fantastic voice overs, very immersive. @baltic_dragonMy only small issues were; The kneeboard not having the Mormon Mesa Departure plate (at least I did not find it) Following the Altitude Alert script does not work. The AA setting clears before the data can be entered. (01:12:29) 01:52:25 Fuel bay door opened by itself? Closed it right after fueling was completed.

missing info Targeting Pod "Wanders off"
Ready replied to Morat's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
I drop a mark point on a target when I expect that I have to make some evasive maneuvers and might lose it in the TGP. I know the TGP sometimes wanders off and try to fly more relaxed, not to upset it too much. This usually helps. -
To me the buddy lase is really for acuracy and to keep the shooter out of harms way. Of course it is also a backup for when the TGP has been shot. I prefer the self lase L over the D if there is a risk of locking the D on telephone poles etc, so I can just use the TGP for spotting. The D is a bit quicker to operate at open areas, for example pop-ups just over a hill towards a small valley. For engaging targets in more urban areas I would go for the L, as long as there is a clear line of sight. Haven't tried dual lasing on the same freq. I am considering to records a few videos where I try different engagement techniques and weapons against the more advanced SAMs. Always up for a challenge. (seen my landing challenges?)
