For this purpose I use a workaround using Voice Attack to program my HMCS. When I say a specific command (in my case 'display'), or press a programmed HOTAS combination it executes a string of controls for the HMCS. Takes les than a second to execute the whole list. For example see below video. I put it at the correct moment.

Agreed! -
Such a good time!! Will definately do this one again somewhere in the near future. The TOT went pretty fast and was messing a bit with the Hack. Luckily all I had to do was stay on Biff's wing.

Nice find! Yeah this should work. If I remember correctly I asked for clearance before from AI-ATC and Biff took off, but I did get the voice-over stepping on the AI-ATC radio and vice versa while lining up. -

This might actually be very important information for every player who tries this campaign. A simple instruction like 'make sure you taxi and take off before Biff' would really help. On another note; Even though Biff is very helpful I somehow can't stop thinking of the infamous Biff.. -
Radio presets would be nice, but I feel these are more like a unneccesary luxury at this moment. Imho changing the freqs is something that I just need to learn and practice a lot. I actually like it in this stage of my personal development. It is more the background information on some of the handled topics that I would have liked to be able to read and understand beforehand on this mission (and maybe some more practice missions further ahead still coming in the campaign). During the voice overs also some side notes were given, which are just too much if there is no way to later bring it up again. I have to watch back one of my own recordings to find out what was going on and what was said. You also reference to some USAF documents in the briefing, why not make and include a syllabus kind of folder with the kneeboards, mission briefings and background theory/reference materials per handled mission practice items? That would be amazing.

Hahaha. Agreed. I read the designated pages in the manual, which I must say does not have the information I would expect. The voice-over explanation most of the times made sense, but it was so much and it all happened so fast it is not clicking yet. @baltic_dragon It would be very nice to have some kind of tutorial with some screenshots for these specific WP items (To-To, From-To, etc) to read after this mission, because the manual is not sufficient. Because some things were unclear the second time I tried this mission I used active pause a couple of times, just to tinker with things. Luckily the script kept going and I was able to finish the mission (I think). The instructor pilot again did his own thing. He climbed up to Angels 16 and went a completely other way and dissapeared from the TAD again. Luckily the voiceover kept working. In the end after the landing I did not really know where to put the hog, tried both sides of the parking area and had to slalom a bit on one side. Nowhere the script got triggered, so I jumped out eventually, assuming it was finished. I recorded my second go at this mission, see below. I was not perfect in any way, but it might be of some help. What I could also find was the following thread, from guys who had similar unclarity about this subject. When I understand these WP attributes a bit better I think I will record a specific video just navigating and flying some waypoints and playing with these WP attribute settings. I think these settings could be very helpful if applied correctly. Good video explanation by @Fish on the difference between To-To and To-From. start at 18:23

This whole WP attributes thing is quite complicated! I got lost a couple of times with what I had to do because I had to figure it all out while inside a pattern or heading towards a waypoint and my headset was giving issues looking down to the CDU (jumpy, so could not read the CDU buttons), which did not give me enough time to make the correct configurations in the CDU. I put it on active pause at one moment but thought that Biff's script would be screwed up. So I just put us in a wheel when things were going too fast. In the end I lost the script completely and hoped to pick it up once reaching some waypoints on the way back to base. Did not happen, so aborted. Definately will first read the manual's pages as advised in the briefing before trying this one again..

Hi @=Andre=, I am thinking of upgrading my desk chair to a proper flight chair with a cut out. Is there an easy way to adjust my regular jetseat as well? I understand it would mean opening it up, cutting out some fabric and removing filler and stitching it back up. But would it be easy to do you think, or should I not try it because of cabling? Thanks,

please add client setting "disable auto radio/communications menu popup"
Ready replied to D4n's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yes +1 here too. For me both the coms menu and subtitle texts really break some of the immersion in VR. Another issue I have with this functionality is that it looks very ugly when recording video's. Even when using outside views you see these lingering menu's when playing back a track file, with no way to get rid of them. A simple 'enable/disable visual coms menu', or for example a setting to change the coms menu text color to transparant or change the text size to 0 would also do fine. It reminds me of the message envelope icon that is floating in the middle of the screen. This one can be switched off, so why not the same for all texts? As a workaround I have bound the F12 to a HOTAS command, so whenever it appears I use this. And this happens a LOT. I mainly talk on SRS and have this menu opening up all the time. Edit: To deconflict with SRS I added a modifier to the radio PTT's in DCS and have no modifier set in SRS. So can freely speak on SRS now using the same radio button, without opening the comms menu. If I want to talk to DCS AI, I just add the modifier button. -

I tried Mission 2 part 2 and had big issues as well. The first time I waited for 2 to pass me by at the parking, I followed him, did my thing at the hold short line, he took off and while I was taking off he dissapeared pooof! in thin air. (I was watching him in the HMCS and he completely dissapeared from the TAD as well as visual). I flew around a bit looking for a possible crash site and saw a big smoke pile(couple of miles down the end of the runway, what looked like a crashed hog. But this was not him, because this crash site was there already before he took off (I watched the video back) Second time I did not wait for 2 and took off first. This time 2 passed the holding short line but was waiting to turn onto the runway. I circled a bit waiting for him to start going, but it did not happen. He kept just standing there. I assumed it had something to do with a bad trigger so thought to just drive around him on the taxiway to see if this would wake him up. I turned around, landed on 21R and while I passed the runway treshold 2 started rolling! So there is a trigger on the wrong runway I guess. I rolled out on 21R, took taxiway A and took off again on 03R. Once wheels up again 2 dissapeared in thin air. -

There is no saving functionality available unfortunately. Did you follow the script? -
Flew Mission 2 part A. Great mission again! Fantastic script, really educational and I like the back and forth very much. A few items I noticed (time stamps and chapter markers included below) 1:06:30 Steerpoint toggle switch (using it is not practical while in VR and Steerpoints are displayed in the HUD) 1:18:52 FL displays a bizar braking power to get in Trail (which he already was in) I wish I could use this! 1:37:55 Instructed to contact ground, changed freq but the contact did not happen (probably pushed the spacebar too early) 1:39:45 Departure hold short voice-over started again?!

So I upgraded the VP plugin to the latest version again and unfortunately the issue reappeared right away. So am downgrading to .24 again.
-
Hi the work around for me is to bind resetting Vaicom Pro to a HOTAS button, so I don't have to go to the desktop but can do it from within VR. By Max's advise I rolled back to an earlier VP version, which seemed to work for me too. I am now trying out the other possibility as discussed a few post up with Drac.

First off, I would like to compliment BD for the quality and immersiveness of this campaign. I have been practicing with serious instructors for a while and still learned quite some new things during this first mission. I love the voices! Here are the things I ran into, with references to my recording (link below the text, also chaptered in the video) 51:25 SADL set. 2-1 sees me on the TAD, but I don't see FL, it seems his Group ID is not set. 01:11:49 It takes quite a while for Tusk 2-1 to take off. So I had to make a wheel to let Tusk 2-1 Catch up 01:28:50 Tusk 2-1 receives clearance for 21L but at 01:32:30 Tusk 2-1 Is approaches 21R(?!) and makes a go around?!? 01:37:30 Tusk 2-1 Lands at 21R 01:37:50 Tusk 2-1 Decides to taxi through the dirt 01:41:49 After clearing runway checklist starts too early, still taxiing. 1:44:38 Parking next to 2-1 on the ramp, not clear if I was heading in the right direction. I am used to copy FL's position, so had to slalom between the vehicles. 1:46:48 Was ordered to continue taxi to Thunder. Arrived at my original starting position but then the script stops and did not receive any mission ending message. Later on during the mission many of the texts that are displayed do not include a summary of the spoken checklist items. Since there is no way to ask FL to repeat them it can be hard to catch up (I think I only missed 1-2 items luckily).
-
Restricting works fine for me too. I would however like to be able to just not have the coms menu appear all the time when there is a dialog. These texts really take some of the immersion out of it. I prefer having nothing dispplaying at all and just use the VR scratchpad to make my own notes.

So I removed the check mark 'Allow other commands to execute while this one is running' from all of the commands in the profile(which is turned on by default in all), as I have no clue which one could be the cause (if this is indeed the issue). Will upgrade again to the latest version and see if it made a difference. Thanks for the tip!

So yesterday played mission 2. A-10CII on latest OB. It was fun! But I had some strange experiences, which I would like to share. The biggest issue was a messy situation around 1:10:17. It made me engage the wrong targets I think. For reference video timestamps are added. Wingman decided to taxi and take off by himself, right after taxi clearance is given by ATC. (guess DCS AI) Radio voice-overs become active just before line up. Audio doesn't match up because 2 is already airborne. (13:50) ATC gives clearance for take-off without receiving a request. (14:22) Not able to give 2 formation commands, like trail. Could not locate the helo following prowler (31:44) After show of force to the truck it turns behind building but then goes back to the road. No effect on Prowler. After contacts from Overlord GG 311 388 entered them as WP, was about to check them out visual but Prowler was already engaging. Could this Overlord call maybe made a bit sooner to give time for recon (1:03:10) Very unclear situation. Overlord, FL and Prowler stepping onto eachother's radios, big mess (1:10:17) Prowler advances while I am getting green light to engage Prowler halts without reason and can not be informed to proceed (1:15:35) 2 has strange behaviour in the break (1:23:10) and keeps saying 2 rejoin. Even after telling it to go RTB. (DCS AI?)

Sure! Maybe, who knows. I have been playing around with VP quite a bit in the beginning, so would not be surprised if I did some self-sabotaging. Am very curious!
-
Since downgrading (a couple of weeks ago) I haven't had this issue anymore. I do have to restart VP everytime I start in DCS and then get an automatic pop up window on my desktop with a notice about the new plugin version. Only after closing this message I can continue and jump back into VR.

I record VR on the right eye, which causes the right side of the HUD to be masked by the frame in the recording. Is there a way to offset the eyesight a little bit to the left or right in order to have the right eye more in the center of the view? I know how to center VR views within DCS, so now what I do is move my head to the side a bit and then press center my view, but I have to do this continuously, which is a pain. I also know of the function in SteamVR, but this also does not seem to help. Anybody have any idea how to nail this? Thanks!
-
Thanks, but that thread is not giving shortcuts to moving left and right. My issue is that while recording my right eye, the right side of the HUD is not visible, because it is blocked by a frame. So would like to be able to offset my view to the left a bit to get the right eye more center view.

Could you please also point me to this old thread? Thanks,
