Upgraded From Rift S to Valve Index: Part II
VirusAM replied to flameoutme's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks for sharing....well i see your settings and are insane for me...i run PD at 1.0 and steamvr at 100% both in general and per-application...the suggestion for my video card is 150% I use msaa x2...with the rift S i can have pretty much everything on high, I keep the shadows to low. With the index i need to set water and visibility to medium, but still your settings seems impressive to my and there is no way my pc could handle it. I have a pretty beefy computer as well (i9900k, 32gb, multiple ssd) Could you share the resolution steamvr puts for your card at 100%? Mine is set at 2016x2240 per eye. -
Yes I know that... But some people thinks that just because the Reverb has higher res screens and you won’t need PD > 1 then you will have better performances then with the Rift or other lower res headsets that needs some pixel density. That is not true as simply i run the rift S usually at 1.2 but event at 1.5 it runs fine most of the time. About shadows and msaa... If you use the hornet or the Tomcat without shadows you will see some light bleeding through the buttons of the upfront panel... With the Hornet flat shadows gives a very fake lighting effect when behind the sun. About msaa...without it all the mfd lines are aliased and also the needles of many instruments .... So in the end i prefer the Rift S with higher visual settings as still the visual quality is better then its specs would suggest...very good for the price indeed...

GPU to run reverb G2 My 1080ti has to be a fake one then...I am not able to keep 45fps with a Reverb (in fact i returned it). The comment is not to be indented as negative towards you, but I cannot understand how many people with lower or similar specs to me are reporting better performances in VR. I cannot live without msaa and with shadows lower then low in VR...but only lowering these two settings and keeping visibility to medium i can get decent performances. While with the rift S i can have msaa 2x, water high, visibility high and shadows to low without ant problem to keep always 40fps

Upgraded From Rift S to Valve Index: Part II

Upgraded From Rift S to Valve Index: Part II Would you share your settings? I have both the rift s and the index (arrived 3 days ago). I love the Index (wide fov, nice screen, wonderful audio) but with a 1080ti I am struggling to achieve good performances also with 80hz display settings. Using the Rift S i have very high settings and Pixel density of 1.2 and I have no issue in keeping 40 fps minimum. With the Index the 100% resolution reported by steam vr is much higher then the real one of the headset, but if i lower it (real one is around 52%) also to 90% i have a very bad visual quality worse then with the Rift. If I lower dcs settings its better but the visual quality again degrades. Expecially I really can’t live with msaa off and shadows off or flat as the jaggies are to much, and without shadows the image seems really fake. I can live with the water and visibility to medium (both high using rift S) but using the index is not enough to have always 40fps. So how with a lower card you manage to have good results? Is my 1080ti a fake one? If I cannot improve this situation i will return the Index as the Rift S visual quality is not so bad compared to it and lowering the settings for the Index is a no-go as I would have inferior visual quality. I tried half life alyx (came free with the Index) and it is wonderful and also with the Index no fps issues at all.... -
Great document, will read it soon as i am really curious on how flight models workZ Thanks for sharing

-
This was fast... Gf3 + F14 and kg12 grips gone.
-
-
100% with you....I didn't pay yet for the mudhen.....I think no one did...so why being so upset before it is here? Razbam get a lot of critics, but for me are really not deserved. True their 3 modules have still some issues, but they are commited to those...and name me another developer who after 3 years from the release of the module reworked it both graphically and system wise (M-2000).
-
All modules you already paid to be so upset I imagine.... Anyway they (as always) put a disclaimer that it is not near.... But finally my airforce is getting some love in DCS, before an EF-2000 and now the AMX... The AMX saw extensive combat during the Kosovo war in 1999...and in Afghanistan as a CAS platform... Now...someone needs to announce a Tornado to be complete

The only remaining item is the Thrustmaster Hornet Grip. It is working correctly and it has the VKB adapter installed (its the one for the warthog, so I had to file it a little to install properly). The original connector will be included in the package. The grip is still in warranty as it was bought just a month ago (I took a superlibra from an user on this forum, and it was not planned). Price including shipping is 210 euros Sold: - vkb gunfighter 3 + cams + springs + desktop plate + small plate - vkb f14 grip - vkb kg-12 grip Contact me for pictures or every information. Shipping is included in EU. I can ship in the US (or other parts of the world) but the shipping is not included. EDIT: Modified to reflect the remaining stuff.

Good morning, Yesterday I received a winwing base + f18 grip that I bought from another user on this forum (which bought the entire set but needed only the throttle, before Alex added to option to buy single pieces). Now I am used to the thrustmaster target or vkb software. Usually I program a button with 2 functions (for example the warthog or hornet paddle). A short press is a DX button, while an hold in another DX button (for example dx4 short press and dx30 the button hold). In this way I can use the HOLD dx as a modifier in dcs without losing important functions of the real life Hotas (in the case of the Hornet the paddle switch or the nws steering/undesignate depending on what you choose). Now the question....is there a way I can do the same using the winwing software?or i need to install (and learn) joystick gremlin to do this? Thanks

WINWING TM WARTHOG GRIP ADAPTER COMING That is what I thought the adapter was... Also because alex answered that also the Virpil grips could work this way possibly. But I doubt that the internal connector of the virpil grips is the same of the warthog

-
Check your dcs saved games\scripts\export.lua if it has 2 added lines from wwing software. Not at home now, but you can easily understand if those are there.
-
Sure, but i had hoped in something external that could have used maybe also with multiple sticks.. Anyway in this way one has to think about it.
-
Opencomposite is Oculus only...no other hardware unfortunately
-
I know is not the correct thread...but will you add also keybinds for the airsource, crs, emergency sweep handle, hydraulic switch (and other missing that I don’t remember now). Not complaining just to know, as some of these commands are more useful on a controller then using the mouse

Force Feedback Joystick Coming soon
VirusAM replied to FoxHoundcn's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Some FBW aircraft have sticks similar to force feedback. In RL Hornet for example the stick strength changes in different aircraft configurations...but I don’t think ed implemented it...the hornet has force built also in the pedals. Other FBW aircraft has just a spring stick similar to our sticks usually with more strength needed to fully extend it. -
Thanks... I had hoped it would have been something less “permanent” As I am waiting also a fssb base I would like to use the warthog grip on both bases on the fly... Opening every time is not feasible of course. Could be useful anyway on the TM Hornet grip (i like the TM one more then the WW one) which I don’t plan to use on the Fssb.

RealSimulator F18 grip

Sakhaj sells a green spring which is way weaker then the default warthog one.... -
DCS GRAPHICS PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION SETTINGS GUIDE - POINT BLANK Probably the issue there is that gpu scheduling has negative effects on motion smoothing. Basically when the PC cannot handle 90fps there is an huge delay before the motion smoothing kicks in. That does not happen without gpu scheduling. With the oculus software which has the equivalent ASW also this doesn’t happen. Anyway this can be mitigated forcing the motion smoothing always on for dcs or raising the vr pre-rendered frames number. Of course if you disable gpu scheduling the issue also disappears. Probably future nvidia drivers will solve those issues
