one thing I don't quite understand is the purpose of: Vz Mode Function Delay (Vz = retarded mode) - Where is this actually being used? - How does one select it when variable setting is used? Is this even simulated? null

simply beautiful! Can't wait for the release!

I'm re-reading your comments, guys, and I wonder if we are talking about the same thing here? In Chuck's guide it's called "Kühlerklappen" and per google translate it means "radiator flaps". That's the 'wheel' under the dashboard that I'm talking about.
-
there's a turning wheel under the main dashboard, if you turn it left or right you can see the cowl flaps open or close, I guess it's a manual over-ride of the automation system. Turning the wheel definitely affects the temperature, which in my case went down to 100 and the cowl flaps where fully opened.

I can only imagine and I'm thankful that your real-life input confirms its implementation in DCS, A true life-or-death simulation for sure! -

that's a really cool skin, @II.JG1_Vonrd! Shows the true nature of this bird! It would be awesome if you could share a link to the user file section when it gets approved (unless we can find it using your username there).. -

yup, I started playing some MP servers with WT enabled and boy it's pretty tough to knock out an enemy if I get too close too them. At first I thought there was something wrong with my controls then it dawned on me.. -
this is some next level teasing

was doing some tests with Dora yesterday, and with MW50 failure it doesn't look like it's temperature related, or at least what I've observed. I ran MW50 and was using the manual control to keep the cowling flaps fully open, which resulted in temperatures dead set on 100 degrees, no more/no less. And it still failed after 5 minutes of operation. I still use MW50 but now I limit it to ~1min of operation per instance.

what are you rambling about? I'm not angry, I'm just pointing out the issues with FFB and you're getting all jumpy because you disagree. You can try a simple test with your MS device with P47: - enable FFB - on pitch axis add a curve of 40 - go for a flight and see if you can trim it out for a horizontal flight without touching the FFB stick On my Rihno the trim is max tail heavy and the AC is pitching down, all because the FFB center is now moved way too forward. The max curve on P47 pitch axis I can do is ~20, at which point it's still at max tail heavy however it can maintain a horizontal flight more or less.
-
you can justify your nonsense as much as you'd like. For Rhino users FFB axis curves attribute to broken behavior in ALL modules.
-
you disagree then tell me I need to set up a custom profile to sort of fix it. that aren't documented anywhere, nor tested on anything other than your FFB2 your settings/values don't work on my Rhino, it still tucks like crazy, it's a total mess. Curves on FFB axis are borked. End of story.
-
some possibly relevant tidbit of information if you're thinking about getting the FFB for DCS: - do not put any curves on the FFB axis. Any curve moves the FFB center forward (larger the curve, larger the shift), and it no longer matches the control stick center.

A neues Gwand für die Dora! - Hi Res Textures for the Dora
peachmonkey replied to Doughguy's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
there's sort of a way around, it's not as precise but can zoom you a bit closer: - press F4, then rotate the camera and use slow zoom in/out, that way you can get pretty up close and personal with the rivets. -

Your skins look gorgeous, beautiful precision, quite inspiring actually... By the way, a quick question, and I don't mean any disrespect to the correctness of the historical aspects, but will you be able to make the censored versions of the skins, i.e. without the visible swastikas? -

not gonna lie, the new screens made me go 'wow'. It looks sexy. I'm so tired of the dead cities at night. Yes, it's WWII and all, and I think it should be an option to enable/disable them, but I'll take the posted state just fine! edit: just watched the vids. It gave me a proverbial b^$er. Very nice.

naked trees and the green grass = win. Looks beautiful. I just hope... hope that I can play fly on this map in VR and experience the beauty shown in the video. We can't even use shadows ffs. The MT and DLSS can't come quick enough.

not fixed, need to use a wrapper for Varjo (https://github.com/mbucchia/OpenXR-InstanceExtensionsWrapper/releases)

hi, guys, I love A8, it's my go-to ww2 weapon. But the A8's engine sound lacks that low bass, the oomph, which is so ever present in all other dcs WW2 birds. - K4 is full on top of the line, commands respect and sends shivers down my backbone - P47 comes second with its full range metallic sound - Mossie is simply beautiful to listen to - P51 is roaring - Spit is respectable - A8 ? Without the pronounced bass it sounds like a lawnmower in the fly by's. The cockpit sound is great, it's the external ones that lack that something... I've searched for A8 mods = there are none. Was thinking about playing with the EQ in my daw but where to get the actual files as the current ones are all encrypted ? It's a tall ask but I thought I'd try. thank you, guys.

I share your sentiment about ED's lack of attention to this model and to wwii in general, but IL2 doesn't come close to replicating this iconic bird.

Little (Or Possibly No) Drag from Open Canopy In-Flight
peachmonkey replied to Magic Zach's topic in Bugs and Problems
at this point I'm not even sure what you're trying to get out of this discussion. Dawger is taking a scientific and empirical position. You Others seem to simply rely on the visuals, and of an automobile out of all things, that doesn't have that ginormous windmill in front of it. Point is there's always some drag. Arguing that the cockpit cover produces less drag vs no cover at this point is purely speculative because you don't have the data for either of the cases. What now? edit: from my lament's point of view watching MythBusters continuously kept proving that the intuition != reality -
Little (Or Possibly No) Drag from Open Canopy In-Flight
peachmonkey replied to Magic Zach's topic in Bugs and Problems
nobody's saying that, I think. The question is how much drag it actually induces and what are its effects on the top speed. Yes, it adds drag. Now what?
