[NO LONGER PASSES IC] Improved Contact Dot Spotting (Updated v1.1)
peachmonkey replied to Why485's topic in DCS Modding
this is the issue with core DCS and has nothing to do with the mod itself. Without the mod I can see dots thru the clouds as it is. edit: i see them thru the clouds when they are Faaar away, i.e. a single pixel for AC that shows up 30nm away. Once the plane gets closer and crosses the magic broken LOD boundary it is no longer visible. -
ED's manual are pretty dry, it's better to use Chuck's guides for learning to operate the modules. Here's an excerpt from Chuck's Mosquito's guide on emergency gear operation: null
-
I noticed it too, however in my observations they aren't 100% see thru. You can go thru small branches on the top/sides, but if you go thru the center (i.e. the trunk itself) and closer to the ground you will explode.

Considering buying on sale but mixed reviews
peachmonkey replied to Shibbyland's topic in DCS: Fw 190 A-8 Anton
I love the A2G action, so A8 is my go-to bird and I fly it 70% of the time, with the remainder spent on p47, 109, Dora and the Mossie. As far as bugs: - with P47 we've had cockpit lighting bugs (still is at this moment, ever since the MT release), Axis control bugs (last year), and another current one where the AC blows up on hard landing. - with A8, for the past 2 years of ED updates there wasn't a single case where ED introduced a single operational bug to A8 module. I would say it's the most stable module out of all WWII. The only bug I'm aware of is when performing the airplane repair where the repair actually breaks some systems instead of leaving them alone (stabilizer stops working, gear won't retract, etc), although I'll add a caveat that I haven't tested the repair in the past 6 months (maybe it's been fixed, but I doubt it). -
yup, this problem started with the release of the MT. The trains move like the tree caterpillar at a distance, once you get close to them they smooth out.

peachmonkey replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS 2.9
@BIGNEWY@NineLine, hi guys, Normandy2 rocks, thank you for releasing it, I'm speechless at the quality of the new map! As far as bugs = are you aware of the cockpit light issues with Mossie and P47? Ever since the release of the MT the cockpit lights stopped working in both modules. Just wondering if it's been reported/acknowledged by the devs. -
oh, I didn't realize that, thank you for the hint, I'll give a try today and update the post...

About New Technology used for Normandie 2.0 - Underwhelming?
peachmonkey replied to zaelu's topic in DCS: Normandy 1944
I think lowering the expectations will help you deal with this issue. - MS decided to invest into a terrain engine. Photo realistic landscapes are all there. - ED invests into the modeling/damage engine. Blowing stuff up is available here with some trade-offs (no photo realism). Unless you post in MS forums asking how their engine is lacking the destruction modeling in 2023, I think you're being a bit unfair to ED here. -
hello, I've tried spawning couple of trains, however that never worked: - in ME I define the initial train unit - I add waypoints along the train tracks, however they never follow the actual train tracks and just look like straight waypoint line vectors - after launching the mission the train never spawns.

yup, fixed for me as well! Flying with Aero and 39ppi resolution... omg. if it isn't a full 3rd gen VR experience then I don't know what is... It's.. amazeballs.

for stand-alone (non-Steam) users I saw a post somewhere where the player used the Module Manager to Delete N1 from the list, ran the repair, restarted the Module Manager, then re-downloaded it. After that the high res textures finally started working in the game. Maybe you can give this method a try? -

peachmonkey replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS 2.9
could be 3 reasons: - you didn't purchase Normandy 2 or Normandy 2 upgrade - you are not running OpenBeta - you're on Steam (currently there's a problem with Steam users, they get only low resolution textures, I'm one of them). You can comment in this thread: -
yup, same here with Steam. The game properties DLC lists Normandy 2.0 and Normandy 2.0 upgrade, however no dice with the high res textures.. Hopefully this will be sorted soon.

Major update for Wolf Pack warbirds server!
peachmonkey replied to GR00VYJERRY's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
thank you for ongoing support of this server, it's one of my favorites! -
cool, i've send a refund request to see if I can get it thru.. Frankly, I don't care whether it's 14.99 or 9.99, but want to try out the refunding game, if it's strong with Steam. yes, that's normal, everyone with N1 sees it.
-
lucky you. I own both Channel and N1 and the only option I had was for $14.99 "normandy 2 upgrade", which I bought anyway...

see faq When will it be released? Hopefully soon
peachmonkey replied to huchanronaa's topic in DCS: Normandy 2.0
yup, understood, thank you for the comment. I think the current issue is with players who bought N2 upgrade but still see it in low detail. I believe it's due to licensing that hasn't been transferred/migrated correctly. -
i think it looks like a licensing issue, i.e. some of the people who bought n2 upgrade their license hasn't actually been 'migrated' or something like that... I bought N2 upgrade via Steam, haven't tried it yet, fingers crossed my lic is all sorted but who knows...

my bad for misleading you. - Normandy 2 low resolution = you get this for FREE without buying anything, i.e. you get Lon/Paris with blocky textures - Normandy 2 High Resolution = you get this when you buy the Normandy 2 Upgrade That's how it's supposed to work. Supposed to work. Whether it's actually working like that right now?.. that's what i'm not so sure about.. -

I think they need to convert the campaigns to run on N2 .. to check if you actually got N2, just launch mission Editor, load Normandy, and look at the map. If you see London/Paris then you have N2. -

for you it's probably an Upgrade, did you try launching it? With Steam it also thinks it's the same map: null you definitely have N2 now. With N1 you couldn't see London or Paris... -
