My biggest gripe with CV1 was always resolution. Mostly more difficult to see aspect and IDing aircraft. Which is better for flight sim money no object. I left out Reverb because I don't want to deal with HPs hardware problems. I'm leaning towards S because Rift and their software has been around. Thoughts?

Good news is AMD is pushing Intel for the first time in a while. This will hopefully get Intel off their butts and force them to innovate. Also what ever happened to moving to Vulkan? Wasn't it supposed to help DCS scale?

I can't seem to find anything showing how the Warthog is setup by default.

Doesn't look all that impressive... I own a Rift and it looks like I'm going to wait for a real V2 version to come out. The res is just not quite there yet

NOW AVAILABLE: Community A-4E-C Mod
Scendore replied to Merker's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Just for clarification... Do you need to be running an Alpha? -
I think what is really missing is another study plane for the opfor. Meaning the only real opposition in terms of top fighters are the FC3 birds and they aren’t completely fleshed out. I think there are a lot of things they need to complete for this sim to round out. Perhaps I’m missing something but it seems incomplete.

You can easily jump into the VR game now with the CV1 Rift. There are a few articles but the big guys Rift and Vive have said you won't see much from them until late next year or even 2019. Beyond bumping the resolution they both have acquired technologies which would make the experience even better. Things like Eye Tracking, Gloves, and Bigger FOV. This gives some time for the GPUs CPUs to catch up with the higher resolution demand. Not sure why but VR doesn't support SLI. From what I hear it has to do with timing. The deal is you need very high FPS so you don't get sick. Also with this sim in it's current state it doesn't seem to be optimized for VR just yet. Certainly it works but I think they can better performance. Perhaps better CPU utilization and core scaling is the answer.

So I guess if you want to go 4K then you do need a much larger monitor. I just don't know where the cross over happens going from 1080p to 4k and my aging 24" monitor.
-
I'm currently using and older 24" monitor and since upgrading my rig to a 1080Ti FTW it's now time to consider going to a much larger monitor and perhaps 4K. I have seen most folks go to an intermediate step at 1440p which even at 27" and even 32" looks really nice. Not to mention Gsync and 144 refresh rates. That said I'm concerned moving to full 4K at even 32" It would make things pretty tiny. It's hard enough to pick up targets now even though they've added some scaling. Anyone have some advice? I'm also looking into HDR tech which is out as well I fly both sims and I play shooters Thoughts? My current rig 3570K OC 4.5 on water (I will go to a new CPU once the word is out on next gen and if we will get scale with more cores) 16GB ram EVGA 1080Ti FTW3

Well there is some hope they will look at the radar... I believe we have a pretty simple radar model at the moment. Since they are working on the F/A-18C they will need to model ground radar which means they will be working the same area of the code. With a little luck they may address some things in the process

This is a known issue... You must make sure you're using a USB 3.0 port and in some cases your Motherboard USB 3.0 might not be compatible. There is an Oculus checker which will tell you if your MB chipset is compatible. In my case I ended up purchasing a inateck card for about 30 bucks and it works flawlessly with my CV1 setup.
-
Yeah it's all rumor right now but they may not have enough HBM2 to mass produce it. We will see.
-
What will actually be interesting is the 1080TI based on the GP 102. It's in between the 104 which is releasing now and the GP 100. What I am interested in is whether they use HMB2 memory which is really going to change things especially at 4K settings and VR.

Debatable now that BMS 4.33 U1 is around. But yes FC3 gives a person going from one of the modules a chance to get into the sim a little quicker.

For Dcs and Il2 Bos/Bom is better..?
Scendore replied to ivo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
As far as I know... Il2 can't use the rift because it is a DX9 title. It was mentioned it could be supported via a 3rd party wrapper though it adds overhead. DCS is a DX11 title and it has been mentioned they will eventually support the Rift. There are also competitors coming out as well which could further support for VR. -
ILS Landings: Glide Slope and Middle Marker Beacon
Scendore replied to Aeger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Razor gave you the clinical answer... The reality of flying a real ILS is that the closer you get to landing you have to use much smaller corrections. When you're in windy conditions it makes it more difficult. Use the heading that keeps you on course and power to keep you on glide slope. Try not to use pitch to capture the GS. Set the pitch for the desired decent rate then power to hold the GS. They key is to be stabilized in your approach which means you're configured for landing around the FAF or Final Approach Fix -
I got suckered... Should see mine around May time frame

Left Throttle Button and Engage/Disengage Autopilot Button?
Scendore replied to bunraku's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yes they are the same function... The one on the throttle is technically an AP disconnect. You want to have one close by hence on the throttle or stick in case the AP is doing something you don't want it to do. The other one on the console does the same thing. You just don't want to be fishing around for the button. I hope that makes sense. -
Yes Falcon 4.

I'm sure some can answer better than I can but as I remembered it... RWR basically tells you that you're being Illuminated by a radar. It will change tone if that radar locks you because now it's focusing on you. Lastly it can detect a launch because now that weapon is being guided. I'm not sure but I believe the RWR can also detect the missiles own radar. Perhaps it only knows that something was launched at you. In the sim the only way you know you've lost track is when you break the radar lock. Not sure how it works in real life.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Scendore replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Bummer many posts to this thread aren't here anymore. Did you guys have a problem? -
In short yes. There were a couple Mods specifically made for the Cougar which use Hall Sensors. They are no longer being made but it can be done.
