  1. Wait, what do you mean by DD11? Do you mean DX11? Your logfiles indicate that those files can't be read off of hard drive, as if the filesystem was corrupted or the files have been tampered with or a permissions violation. Subsequent DX11 issues are most likely an after effect and not the root cause.
  2. What? No, surely not true. I fly SP only and regardless of "client" or "player" this bug occurs. The only work around for me right now is to fly early morning or late evening to lessen the effect. The reflection is still there, just not as overwhelming to my sight.
  3. Hey Michael, I'm quoting myself from another thread: This is the thread BTW:
  4. Interesting, all your *.crash logfiles end with something like: (DCS): AmdPowerXpressRequestHighPerformance + 0xE40B76 Could you please change the power management setting of your AMD Catalyst suite and test again?
  5. I don't want to worsen your already "great mood", but here are two suggestions: 1. Are you able to check your SSD integrity? This could be an issue too. Whenever new data is written to bad cells, in this case a major upgrade to 2.7, the data obviously can get corrupted. And no, NTFS wouldn't neccessarily recognize it, it's and old filesystem with very limited checksumming capabilities. Plus these drives notoriously lie about written blocks. 2. For the future, if you have the funds, buy a second hard drive the same size or bigger than your working drive and clone it before performing a major upgrade. If you're willing to do it, I can assist you with further instructions. Doesn't cost anything except your time and another hard drive. I'm probably lucky considering everybody and their mum seems to have issues with 2.7 and the subsequent minor upgrade. I don't have these issues, but I also run DCS in an isolated environment without anything unneccessary.
  6. Well since we lower the deck to puberty altitude, be my guest: Have you, my friend, on the other hand watched the video I posted up there before ranting about my code? A video by a SOLE programmer? Even if he wasn't alone and had a team of five, what he accomplishes as to the weather system is astonishing. Compare that to the 160 employees of DCS, not all of them programmers of course, but you get the idea. It's an overlook, one that isn't terribly hard to implement if you have the rendering animation implemented after all.
  7. Wow you have more "texture not found" errors than Venice has bridges. Are you aware of that? Did you try to repair DCS?
  8. I'm not a GFX artist and any graphics related programming is on the other side of the aisle from where I stand. However, the server is aware where you are (X,Y,Z, heading, speed), where the clouds are and how thick they are + the global prefix. From there it should just be: While true; IF [ Clouds density > X; AND IF [ Player in contact with clouds; ] THEN [ render raindrops on canopy; ] ] sleep 200 ms; done Something like that. Could have even been a static rendering thread, one that's indifferent to speed. However, such approach would've greatly improved immersion and also the tactical value of clouds further! Because it then takes a few additional seconds for the raindrops to fully disappear after clearing the clouds. I recognize that clouds and weather in 2.7 are WIP, but that's an obvious overlook on EDs' behalf in my opinion.
  9. Just a matter of time before your screenshots pop up in one of those UFO forums with a thread title like "PROOF, fighter pilot saw multiple diamond shaped UFOs over Siberia. They were mimicking his maneuvers".
  10. Really a mystery to me how ED overlooked this. Everyone of us has seen the condensation / accumulation of moist in a passenger yet when flying through thick clouds.
  11. Excuse my offtopic question but do you use a terrain mod for Caucasus or how did you manage to create those beautiful screenshots? And if so, which one?
  12. I don't own TrackIR nor a comparable system yet and I'm not familiar with the limitations of the axis. I wonder however if you could use the same disproportional horizonal scale on the Z-axis as well. An example: Since we don't have 10 screens 360° around us, we have to compensate for the lack of X-axis visibility and FOV. Meaning you move your heads' bearing 5° to the left, in-game it translates to 50°. Would it be possible to increase this factor on the Z-axis equally? Meaning if I lower my heads' distance to the monitor by 5cm, in-game that would translate to a zoom of 50 cm?
  13. I changed my mission times in SP to early mornings or late evenings to compensate for the issue. Around noon or early afternoon, forget it. I cannot even acquire a good lock (and look) on target since I'm not able to see it. By the time I can identify, I'm frequently too close to have a viable firing solution.
  14. 1. Did I ever say or imply that your observations aren't triggered by a bug? No I didn't. I believe it's a bug too. DCS is not Open Source Software, so we cannot prove the opposite. However I suppose you want to fly in the, possibly lenghty, meantime up until a fix comes out. That means often to aim for a compromise in the IT world. ED has its' hands more than full right now. The latest update didn't even address even more prominent and visible (and really visually distracting) issues that change the outcome of fights. 2. I know what MSAA and SSAA are. From my experience, unless you have super dope hardware, SSAA isn't worth the struggle and I had visual side effects as well with it (besides totally killing my FPS). Of course, you make a movie, by all means, use SSAA 10x if it was available. But I challenge the notion that it's a big deal under normal in-game conditions, battle, hands full with crosswinds and so on. 3. I'm sorry you got the impression that somehow I was justifying a fault on your behalf and shrug off ED's responsibility. IHMO I didn't. But then again, English is neither my first language nor I believe written English, at least to the degree I'm able to communicate, is a very precise language. One more thing: There's no such thing as being impolite to your hardware with DCS, if your hardware isn't ancient. Nick said it himself, newer cards operate probably at ~ 30% of their capabilities, which is a real issue for ED to address while at the same time not punishing pilots with older architectures.
  15. I'm using the "high" cloud and water setting. I might add that I flew heading 265 out to the Black Sea. It was 9 a.m., sun nearly at my six. I went fast, 950 kph and I noticed that the terrain and clouds passed by smoothly when looking out the window left and right. However, the cloud reflections on the water surface stuttered. The graphics engine updated them maybe at 1 Hz, probably even less. Really a bummer besides the already mentioned "minecraft style" reflections.
  16. Do you immediately press "FLY" when the screen appears? Try increasing the preload radius a bit and don't click "fly" immediately. I wonder if it changes the behavior.
  17. I was flying the Su25-T under bad weather conditions with rain, cloud base at ~ 2000 meters, 5 a.m. Nevada map Creech AFB, March. Meaning dark, rainy, windy, (yes I know very rare down south). Taxi, runway, takeoff no problem. Off to the first waypoint. Since I'm new and purchased Nevada via the latest sale, I'm not familiar with the topology of the region. So I used the F10 map occasionally. As soon as I switched back to F1 cockpit view, I noticed all of a sudden the waypoint distance increased from where I left off. I was only a few seconds into the F10 map, not that somebody thinks I overshot the waypoint. I think my plane was 10.4 miles out heading towards the first waypoint when it happend. To correct the issue I manually switched to waypoint 2. F10 map again 11 miles out, same thing happened! I saved the track record and will review this evening and I'll report back.
  18. Thank you very much for the effort of making / posting the video. Learning never ends. As for the trees: I think after years they need a brush up. Those forests in reality don't look as homogenous as in the game. I don't believe that a hundred new tree textures are needed in order to spice up the landscape. Maybe 10 new ones will do with the right mixtures of these. A good meal doesn't need 50 seasonings, a few correctly combinated spices will do.
  19. Yes, but people in other threads keep saying voice attack. I think a virtual keyboard has its' merits. My wife needs to sleep early, I'm usually flying when she's in bed. So, no voice attack.
  20. Did you try to decrease or increase the preload setting?
  21. I don't know about the Warthog specifically, but those USB devices use a lot of energy. USB 2.0 is only rated for 500 mA (milli Amps), so 0.5 A or 2.5 Watts. Some mainboard manufacturers pumped this up to 1A, 5 Watts. However, I heard that Saitek products for example need up to 3A or 15 Watts. That's the USB standards' maximum. Suggestion: try the blue ports on the mainboard and test again.
  22. German ingenuity at it's finest, again
  23. Did the binding disppear with the lastest update (yesterday)? I cannot activate the FPS counter anymore.
  24. Did anyone notice that the video is exactly a year old? How come people like these fly around for more than a year under the radar? Also, the video has 20k clicks, seriously? But when some Hollywood b_XYZ tells us what a great day she had in her 20 M $ mansion, she gets 20k clicks in a minute. Sad place...
  25. I don't know how to properly respond without being possibly impolite. Turning off MSAA and turning on SSAA rendering to two times isn't superior, it's not knowing what you're doing. Sorry to be blunt. Secondly, I'm mostly a problem solver (for a living) when it comes to hardware and software issues. One thing I learned pretty quickly: Rule out the least probable cause, then circle the real issue, or what one might perceive as the real issue. But don't be surprised along the way. So try it or don't, anything fine by me. From my experience I can tell you just SSAA makes a huge difference. What the harm in trying out?
