  1. is there info somewhere if they are working to fix this issue?
  2. I'm definitely curious... don't forget to share once you find out whats is happening
  3. Just to make sure, you`re engaging AP barometric (BALT) and not (RALT), right? and there`s nothing interfering with altimeter settings ...
  4. I guess I've failed on exposing the problem clearly. the issue is: under the same conditions, with the mission QNH adjust, my hornet displays baro alt different from other modules. (and from what is displayed at the F2 or F10 view) Thanks Hulkbust. yes 1in is equal to 1000ft, but don't focus too much attention to it - I inserted that info to illustrate the gradual offset of the altimeter | the gist is: same atmospheric conditions, same QNH setting -> the Hornet is displaying different altitude than other modules flying under the same conditions. Thanks for the reply, Fresh. DCS trying to simulate the real "conditions" is one of the things that we like so much. I know that, same as the real world counterparts, the altimeters in DCS can be adjusted for pressure, but not for temperature variation and this is a risk factor. Up north, you will find approach plates indicating the need to "Apply altitude corrections for cold temperatures." However, the issue I`m pointing is, regardless of the mathematical model used to simulate atmospheric effects, every plane altimeter, at the same conditions, using the same altimeter setting, should indicate the same altitude. (unless altimeter error is modeled differently from aircraft to aircraft) It could be intentional or not, but IMO, this bug* could cause vertical separation issues between packages containing different type of planes. *or not Anyways, let's see if there are other points. ------- I tested flying with a friend and the conclusion is that the issue is not the hornet - it`s the MudHen F16, F14 and FA18C are all showing acceptable altitude under the conditions above. The F15E is not - since it is a relative new module they will probably fix that in a future patch. Thanks for the input Hulkbust and Fresh.
  5. Howdy I`m not sure if this is from a recent update or I haven`t noticed it before, but the baro alt int the hornet appears to be slightly incorrect. With the Kollsman window showing the 29.92 adjust for the mission I briefly created (QNH 29.92), I`ve followed these steps: At 5000ft RDR, over the ocean, I switched ALT source from RDR to BARO - there was a significant difference in reading and +0.07 inHg was needed to to correct it I repeated the situation at 1000ft RDR and +0.01 inHG was needed to correct at 40000ft, 680ft difference from altitude displayed in F2 screen (that`s more than 1 inHg correction). Just to make sure, I got another plane (F15E) and, at 40k, difference was insignificant. An altimeter that much off would be a No GO. I`ve searched the forum before posting, but did not locate a thread about it. Does anyone have the same problem?
  6. Did you change your dead zone to zero? If not, try it.
  7. Hi Mahany, I know you have received a lot of info already, but I`ll be concise and add my POV. If your controls are well centered and there are no spikes, use a ZERO dead zone. Your Dead zone 4 combined with 20% curves will increase the PIO and make AAR much harder. If you have time try this: set your dead zone to ZERO do not use trim switch for AAR ... once the basket is extended and you're in position for the AAR: set your speed 2-4 kt higher than the tanker`s and work only the stick (really small movements). After connection work the throttle. and, of course, post your impressions here. I do believe you will perceive the task as more amicable and the problem you described will be in the past.
  8. Howdy! I was experimenting with ME trying to get the cloud base at 1200ft MSL, so VFR penetration would not be at hand and CASE II recovery would be used. Cloud base slider doesn`t allow lower altitudes and I could not find the settings for dew point to fine tune it. Is this possible? Has anyone succeeded creating a realistic CASE II recovery?
  9. Howdy! Search didn`t produce results, so I'm posting... For case I recovery, lead should form the flight in right echelon prior to initial (getting ready for kiss off | break). AI is not flying right echelon correctly. #3 and #4 are in position, but #2 is sucked messing up the 45o line. It worked in the past
  10. The ticket was under his name, that's could not find it. He received a reply on may 30th. I wanted him to have a positive experience. So, on the 24th, I paid using my credit card. it was a start with the wrong foot, but I hope he will appreciate dcs as much as we do. thanks for the reply, Maximov
  11. Hello all, I thought my uncle, who`s a retired pilot, would enjoy flying DCS World and convinced him to give it a try. In order to make things smoother I`ve created an account for him, installed the software on his computer and made him order the PG map and a FA18C to start - 50% first buy discount made sense. The problem is that a "The processing of the transaction has failed. Please try again later or contact your card issuer" error popped up every time we tried to pay for the order. After trying again later and with different cards, we contacted the issuer who informed us that no request for payment was made from ED or other. Next day, same thing and those cards work on other sites. I inferred the problem was on ED ecommerce side and opened a ticket (may 17th). The ticket didn`t receive a reply yet and I`m not able to "try again" that payment because the order has expired (3 days deadline) due to lack of payment. Does anyone know if there are issues at ED that would be preventing them from expanding the customer base or replying to tickets? Is there another channel to reach sales?
  12. Is this mod working fine with the hornet, after the last update? I`m considering it.
  13. thank you I`ll give it a try this sunday
  14. Howdy, Is there a way do add (attach) a static object to a "tracked" one? We could use it to: - mark position of an acft in a formation. If this added object, a box for instance, is attached to the flight leader, we could visually check the position of the acfts maneuvering in formation - check boundaries - carrier marshal stack - control cone during BFM
  15. Howdy If I read right, GIMP now supports .dds. However, it's not able to open BC7 mode. Is there a solution that is more indicated than this one? (use textconv.exe and a script to run it via gimp) thanks
  16. Has anyone created a good PAR (Precision Approach Radar) TWR Guidance mission? I tried to locate one, but didn't succeed
  17. somebody? nobody? Bueller?
  18. Thanks for the answer Rudel. Any ideas about the OP? Ports are forwarded and the server even appears on the x51squadron list, but doesn`t show on the clients wannabe dcs MP servers list. Any idea on how to test if ports are being closed at my providers end? even with firewall disabled, port checker shows 10308, 10309, 443 as closed
  19. Apparently this is a issue for some people. Any ideas on how to test if the "block" is on my service provider? maybe said provider is closing some necessary port
  20. Hello all, I've found a couple of tutorials on how to make/use a customized cockpit texture and another on how to alter the BUNO for the FA-18C. I don't know if they got obsolete with the constant patching or something else, but they didn`t work. Even some liveries available for download that theoretically alter the BUNO number aren`t working. I was planning to change a few things on the cockpit, but couldn`t locate a source that provided the knowledge needed. At present is it possible to alter the cockpit texture? if so, can someone recommend a tutorial that will work with the current version?
  21. Hello there, Although, in theory, I've forwarded the ports and configured the firewall to allow traffic from/to DCS, when I create a MP server, it doesn't appear in the MP server browser in DCS. I'll try to list what I've done so far. Maybe someone can spot the flaw and help me - ports 10308, 10309, 443 Forwarded to my "local host" - Comodo firewall with custom ruleset for dcs.exe (TCP or UDP in or out allowed) - Windows firewall disabled/Avira firewall disabled - just a little after running, my server shows up at https://x51squadron.com/dcs_servers, but not at DCS MP browser - we've tried direct IP connection, but it didn't work - I've created a DMZ, but it also didn't work - my DCS can connect to my friend server and to other servers listed in DCS without issues - problem is persistent | restarts and reboots didn't help. I saw a post reporting the same issue, marked as SOLVED, but there was no answer there. I even tried to resurrect the thread without success. Any ideas?
  22. I have the same issue. this post is marked as solved, but I don`t know what was the solution OP found. IJNAkagi could you share it please? here: - we can see the server with https://x51squadron.com/dcs_servers X51squadron browser finds the server when I run it, what made me thing that ports were being forwarded alright, but even with the firewall, disabled DCS MP browser can't see it - direct IP connection also failed - I tried with DMZ and no-DMZ simple port forwarding* * ports 443, 10308-309 are forwarded with TCP and UDP If my friend runs the server, we can see it with DCS MP browser, connect and run the mission without problems (we're running the latest version) any ideas?
  23. Although I have DCS installed for some time. Just now I'm dedicating some time to it. So my thank you goes to you a few years after the original work.
  24. I usually don't post much, but since, it may be useful to others, I decided to share my experience buying from Damien. We all know the product is good quality, fits flawlessly and he supports it - reading those comments that I've decided to buy it. The new variable is that I live in Sao Paulo Brazil. My country legislation regarding importing goods over mail has some gray areas, that function as a trap, if some precautions aren't taken when filling the paperwork. After a brief email exchange, Damien understood the picture and processed the paperwork in a way that significantly reduced the chances of issues with customs. Issues I had when buying from small vendors in the past or even from Alias Wavefront, were not the case dealing with Delta Sims. It was a positive experience buying from him. Just in case this testimony is useful to someone trying to decide on the buy...
  25. Thank you for the tip I had the same issue and your post helped me
