  1. I use the trim on the stick. The 16 doesn't really need trim and I got tired of chasing that cursor around in the heat of battle.
  2. Thanks. I think I would rather it not work at all than work when it wants to. I will try those but it would be nice to know where it does not work.
  3. When 1st installed I punched in Nellis and it works there. I have seen tutorials of it being used at the other maps. That said I am using the Caucus map and it is not working. There is not really much to screw up and it is a basic task so if you have any info I am sure it will help a lot of us. Does the F-16 ILS work on ALL maps and at ALL airports with the capability?   4. Just had a typical AI dogfight that has been this way forever. Say I have a P-51 light on fuel vs any of the German fighters say a 109 loaded with fuel on easy. I will skip the enemy's UFO flight model and ability to zoom climb and turn with no energy bleed for another time. So I get on his six and open up. Bits and pieces smoke and debri but he keeps going. Repeat this until my wrist is tired. On the other hand, he does a head on pass and with a quick blip, every bullet is that golden BB that hits every critical system I have. Wing rips off, pilot is dead, plane looks like swiss cheese. I just flew with 3 aces against ONE "easy" 190 and he shot us all down. Pleeeeeze fix this.
  5. I had a stutter issue that drove me crazy. The view lagged behind or when I looked up it flipped. Just basically all sorts of issues that ruined the immersion. I did all the things one does suspected a program was running in the background and chased that for days. So what was MY issue? I fell dumb but basically there was light spooking the sensor that caused erratic behavior. IIRC there is a setting light filter threshhold that I adjusted to make the sensor less sensitive. Solved. As for the other issues I hit default and that solved the other issues. People mean well but I had used some suggested settings which caused issues.
  6. My 2 cents..... My nephew who is a hardcore gamer who builds his own computers just hooked me up with very fast 32 gig of ram and then he overclocked and tweaked it. TBO running performance test and on paper its a lot faster. But if I did not pay for it and see him do it I would have never known. I see no difference other than a placebo effect and knowing I have it. That goes for DCS and all my other games and overall surfing the net.
  7. Now ALL of my module control settings have been changed. Not up to redoing all those. Does it for DCS for a few days.
  8. I have been hard crashing since the update. This is with the 16. Also something I rarely see is it when 1st running the sim it says server not found and goes into offline mode. Seems to be 50/50. I just lowered my oc and just crash out again....
  9. Agreed.. I would love to be able to do a preflight walk around and exit after shut down.
  10. Actually I search and read actual test pilot reports/notes and designer memos to see if this was a bug or just a over done attempt to replicate a real world issue. There were issues with the gear not coming up all the way and there were issues with the electrical system. That said these issues were resolved in short order. The main problem was the horrible ground handling because of the nose and was fixed by either swing side to side or having someone sit on the wing and give directions to the pilot. I kinda liked that one.
  11. Last night I devoted some time just to the cb/gear issue and have figured it out. This is with the plane already running. Take off as with any other tail dragger although with this one , after rotation I keep a very shallow climb. Begin throttling back, and once you are settled in and no threat of the plane settling back down or stalling, level off working the throttle to say around that 200 airspeed mark. Raise the gear when iirc you are at or a little above 200 on the airspeed. I did this at least 30x in a row. The airspeed and level are key. After gear up, raise the flaps. Now you can yank and bank. The guns are documented but I click on the top switch and wait for the red lights. Give it 3 seconds or so then click the one below it. Again after 3-5 seconds you are ready to flip back the stick cover and start blasting away.

  13. Power loss in a turn or climb would be the least of my problems. Bought the Anton on sale and the gear will not come up. Best I can figure it is a circuit breaker glitch or "overloading" the elec system but seeing this plane has more breakers than a 747. Tonight I am going to fill the skies with AI 190 Antons and rip em to shreds to vent a little. Oh yeah the GUNS work when they want to. No doubt the Ai Antons will be ufos with every bullet hitting a critical component.
  14. Well against my better judgement I bought the Anton after seeing the headline " fix for popping cbs". Besides, as a owner of many a British car with Lucifer, err I mean Lucas wiring and rewired my Delorean, how hard can it be to not tax my virtual warbird by throw everything at it all at once? Well PLENTY it seems. I now have maybe 2 hrs TT on the Anton and actually have CBs bound to my throttle "a first!!!". Same with many other obscure things you NEVER bind to. My gear comes up, sometimes goes down. Flip a coin. The guns are a mess. I have never seen the outer guns fire. I follow the "fix" and IT WORKED!! Twice. I have found no work around, no rhyme or reason why or if something works. I see no procedure.

  16. Been running oculus and 2.5 for over a year with only the usual issues. Have not used VR in 3 months and yesterday when I did the opening screen freezes. The mouse is outside the box so you cannot get back into the menu to disable vr. OR CAN YOU?? Anyways not needed but probably not a bad idea but I nuked DCS and reinstalled world and a dozen or so modules. All is well...... Question. I am not about to attempt VR and have the same thing happen. Can someone tell me what to do if DCS crashes and how I can disable vr or reload certain files without having to go through the entire process. I really want to jump back into VR so I really appreciate any help. JIMJAM:pilotfly:
  17. Thanks... I installed dcs world and not the beta which seems to work. So at 3am I left the computer to install the dozens or so addons. Just woke up and other than having to mess with the controls again despite saving that input folder, looks like I may have to redo all. No biggie. Not sure what the difference is betreen the beta and world. Sure as heck not going to attempt VR again.
  18. edit-- I did try the clean up/repair but did not see them. IIRC I got errors and other cryptic messages that led me to this. I just finished reinstalling and if I try to run it I see what appears to be a small box flashed in a fraction of a second and then nothing. That said, the original DCS was on a external drive and was moved over to a new ssd which is what I have been using over 6 months. Just to see what happens, I clicked on the RUN and DCS opened!!!! So the old beta loads yet a newly installed one will not load. My guess is I have all kind of registry errors. Way passed bed time and I have done enough damage. Deal with it later but I probably need to wipe it all off including reg entries etc. Any help appreciated.... Thanks
  19. Never had a VR issue but it got old so I took a vr vacation this summer. I did try it a few times but not in the last month. Well today I fired up DCS,clicked ON VR and here I sit 8 hrs later at 2 am eastern reloading DCS and a dozen modules. What lead to this was the opening screen would come up and within 2 seconds freeze along with the mouse. So how the he** are you supposed to enter the menu and revert back? I tried all the alt ent, oculus,stream vr but bottom line is no mouse= nothing. I have already started reinstalling iirc 80 gigs so go ahead and tell me HOW one gets out of that situation. I will NEVER attempt VR until I know I can revert back to normal. No doubt there is a command switch but being hard headed like most I nuked the sim. Never had to do a DCS reinstall so I cannot wait to see what surprises await me :fear:

  21. The "Tic Tac" ufo's are fairly common around the Gamecock MOA S of KSSC. I have seen 2. Flat white, no ver or horiz surfaces and a guess would be about the size of a Lear 25. One maintained straight and level but pulled away. #2 was a very fast mover and I was surprised it did not crack the air. Again straight and level. No report to atc as when operating near Bulldog range hot or cold you get a scripted "Not showing anything....." "Just made a call and Shaw says they have no aircraft in that area." And finally and my fav..." Would you like to file a report on that sighting? If so I can give you a number to call." No Thanks.....
  22. Figured out the ils is mia so what I do is create my own approaches. I have all the charts but basically it is easy especially if the ils has feathers. Just use your waypoints to set you down to clear your max elev figure and run the waypoint right to where your OM would be. Just have them lead you right down the funnel. I add at least 200 agl to the field elev. Thats my decision height. Works good enough.

Any time I start missing the art of the flare, those highly sought after "squeakers" and the dancing of the rudders and stick after flying the Hornet, all I do is load the F-5 or any of the WW2 birds especially the 109. Very quickly slamming the jet down from 3 stories and being forced down onto the deck by cables is very relaxing.
  24. Found it. The throttle desig on my TM WH throttle has a unmovable hat switch "2nd over" that has a small depresible button which is what I was using for my target lock. It also "rolls" like a mouse ball 360 and for what ever reason was mapped to my "roll" axis. Never used it so no reason to look. So any depress that had any movement other than dead on induced a roll input. Good grief.............
  25. I flew for about 30 minutes and never turned on the radar or use any aa weapons. I only flew a few air to grounders using dumb bombs and NEVER had the issue. Whatever it is appears to be tied into the radar. I will try again later. Thanks for the replies. Yeah Sandman I have iirc 10 modules along with the WH hotas and have seen some strange things. I will track it down and post it when I do.
