  1. I am just mad at myself for blindly hitting YES for a update that I 1st did not give a few weeks for the issues "if any" to bubble up. Nvidia taught me that years ago.
  2. For WW2 birds and dog fighting I use to unplug the $$$ Warthog and use my trusty Saitek X-52. That endless yanking and banking can ruin a stick and your wrist. I also got frustrated and set up FOUR P-51 ACE AI wingmen against ONE Bf-109 easy AI fully loaded with fuel. The 109 proceeded to shred the 4 aces. Every shot was the "golden BB" always hitting a critical system. On his six with unlimited ammo I held the trigger until my hand literally started hurting. Dumping black/white smoke and shedding parts however he kept going. That was 2 yrs ago before all the latest updates. Now it's just bad and not game breaking. At least now they will go down yet I still run across the issue of all of their hits being the 1 in a million while I am obviously shooting marshmallows.
  3. If it works on other games ignore. This is a quick n dirty fix I had to do whcih took way longer than I wanted it to. Track IR can be so touchy I could write a book but here are a few things not mentioned but issues I have ran across. Obvious but to much light. I use a large screen 4k tv that is to big to sit so close and the T IR sensor would be to far to detect and track with any precision. So what I did was place the unit on the desk my tv is on, and then on a block of wood w/ double sided tape at 1st and got the distance right and height right. Then had to angle it back so it worked with the unit on my cap. Finally, got it so it worked right. Eventually I found some clear plastic and made the support for the sensor so it's not so distracting. A lot to go through I know but if you want to run a 37'' + tv and don't want to go blind or puke there really is no choice but to place the sensor closer. As far as all the different hz, Gsync issues etc thats another couple paragraphs but appear to be covered. But 1st eliminate the possibility of light corruption and/or distance. Also lots of ways to really screw it up by making changes in the calibration and set up. Using them I was able to get it to work when the actual problem was the sensor was not placed in it's optimal location. It worked but introduced stutters, the inability to look either full up or down. Maybe if messed with go back to a default and as they say leave it alone and try from there.
  4. It will ALWAYS be like that. As soon as resources are freed up, some frames are available, maybe some months even years of tweaking, some programmers give a sim some breathing room. Then just as fast others fill it back up with eye candy and it's back to square one. Seen it play out that way for 30 yrs. I would imagine we will be on Mars and yet there will be stutters when there is a explosion, smoke or more than 10 things are moving at once.
  5. Ran out of space with the update and you are mad..Haaaa.. Just wait it gets better. BTW My P3D install is 180+ gigs. Of course the clouds/weather alone are larger than all 3 versions of DCS. Just one Orbyx scenery is also larger than all 3 or so DCS versions combined.
  6. I never, ever, never, ever, never never never ever never patch anything before waiting a week or 2 or at least checking. No flying for 2 wks due to illness and 1st thing I do is PATCH and THIS happens. Oh well after simming since the floppy days can't say it bothers me much any more. Make it night and I won't miss em. This ain't Sim City anyways.
  7. Movement forward and listening to those who have supported the sim since day one is why I have and still stick it out. When I see flying through rings I will become nervous.
  8. Sorry for the mini rant but "no affiliation" but go watch the Grim Reaper's fly some imaginary missions. Very, very exciting and imo the very core of what DCS was based on. I never once watching those missions and worry or really notice the shadows, trees, water color etc. I remember when doing a gun run there was a PAUSE every time you pulled the trigger. A stutter during a explosion. I could never be a programmer. I can imagine late nights, Redbulls and months/years to free up some valuable cycles, a few fps only to have someone else fill it with eye candy. I have been around long enough to see a pattern. 2 steps forward, one step back. I understand eye candy pulls in the casual player and it's great for sales but I would not trade one frame for a better explosion or moving grass. Done typed another book but just don't want DCS to turn into FSX or Star Citizen thats all. I want the programmers to concentrate on the meat and potatoes and get it running great with as few hiccups as possible.
  9. Of course I think it is great that DCS is looking much better especially the clouds but lets not lose sight that most of us have stuck with it for so long because it is first and foremost a high fidelity military combat simulator. I have a very pretty simulator with $1500 in addons a lot having to do with making it look great. It's call P3D. To "realistically" depict reality in the sim it would look horrible. You would simply max out brightness, suck all the color out and add a filter to represent sunglasses. Just seems odd that so many who scream for flight realism and by the book numbers to within a few mph and complain about a lack of a rivet or strut compression are also trying to create "pretty" sunrise/sunset "aahhhh" moments. As long as I do not see immersion breaking jaggies, does not look like a comic book or cartoon and runs great, I am just not as picky. Set up a mission against some tough ai, throw in some sams and ground to air defenses and suddenly I found I am not that concerned about how the shadows fall across the cockpit. I admit to once being a .cfg junkie in FS9/FSX/P3D but TBO sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the weeds and lose sight of the goal which is to enjoy yourself. If you find yourself spending more time in the menus and loading screens there is a very good chance you too are that person.
  10. My one month love affair with VR is already quickly cooling off and collecting dust. Bought one game, Lone Echo and only played maybe 1/4 of it. Glitches, nausea, hot face, steamy eyes and vasoline smeared graphics. Yes its jaw dropping being IN the pit but to many draw backs especially when you have a nice 4k large tv. Until the resolution is greatly improved, anything DCS does are just bandaid fixes. Helis and WW2 birds great fun just burning holes. High speed fighters and reading numbers on a small crt to launch a weapon on a black dot in a sea of "stuff" is about as fun as giving blood. Unless "they" move fast, I can easily seeing VR once again dying out. VR is good for a few things and high fidelity fighter simulations ain't it.
  11. After my initial jump into flying against the AI which are obviously flying alien tech ufos disguised as planes which are immune to pesky things like gravity, inertia,Gs and exceeding mechancal limits, I would not hesitate to go against a real human. No clue what the AI is now as I just recently within the last 3 months jumped back in but I can not imagine it possibly being any worse. I recall setting up a 1 v 1 "EASY" AI. Me Mustang, he 109. My crew obviously loaded marshmallows as bullets and his were depleted uranium heat seekers with every hit striking the most critical of systems. The easy AI even slaughtered FIVE AI ACES. I made myself impossible to kill with unlimited ammo, got on his 6 and held the trigger until my hand started cramping. Smoking like a smoke stack the ai simply limped off leaving my untouched plane behind seeing that my untouched plane's engine was overheating but his was in tip top shape. The f5 is not the plane I would choose to learn how to dogfight with it's high loading and high loss of speed scrub in turns. Jump into a F-15 or even Harrier. Good luck.

    Moving map ?

To be a simmer requires patience and hopefully over time the dev or someone will handle any number of hundreds of things from game crashers, performance issues, the location or absence of a rivet or locations of a access panel being off 5mm. Those who expect perfection for $60 and issues to be delt with within weeks or suffer from OCD will not last long in simming. It's expensive, requires under the hood knowledge and expect more time spent tweeking the settings, experimenting with computer hardware and settings and often just "dealing with it". I know this as I have been at it since Microprose F-19. I can still remember DOS commands and can recite the fs9/FSX/P3D .cfg in my sleep. I can relate and understand the frustration but i already suffer from hypertension and refuse to let a "game" and a $60 addon upset me. If it's that bad, I will delete it and never purchase another product. Matter of fact I DID just had enogh of FSX and went to console gaming for a few years. Now I jumped back in when VR hit $400 and even with all it's warts, issues and horrible performance, I am once again back in until I have "had enough" and walk away until the next level is achieved. Checking the update forums and patch releases everyday is no way to live. Just fly the thing. Or don't.
  13. Ok I am warm and fuzzy about uninstalling 1.5 via the exe. Will do it later this evening if no replies about the deactivating the modules first in 1.5 before deleting which I have no heard until now. Thanks to all.
  14. A chinese type rating is easier than this.......... "Current 2.5 is Open Beta and will remain so, if you delete your 1.5 release, when the release version is, well... released, you will need to either force your Open Beta version to update to release version or install another copy to keep both." :dunno: No clue what that means........ TBO I did not even know Nevada/Normandy were in 2.5. I rarely flew the caucus map so I just "assumed" this new 2.5 was the new foundation with Caucus. Then eventually Nevada/ Normandy would be upgraded to 2.5. ------So now the question is can I uninstall BOTH 1.5 and 2.2 and if so do I just use the uninstall EXE that are in their folders?------ Seeing into the future is there any reason NOT to delete 2.2? And NO I do not fly 1.5. Should just rename them. The OLD one. The NEW one. Done. The whole DCS World Alpha Beta 1.1.2 E=MC2 final stable Alpha is about as confusing as a upside down Los Angeles sectional. "Picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue." Airplane
  15. No doubt that buried in these forums is the answer but I would rather have a $10 root canal performed in a dark alley by a bum with a rusty pair of pliers who has not had a drink in 2 days than read any more. I have 2.5 latest up and running all modules installed. Also 2.2 with Normandy and Nevada running with all modules installed. 1.5 I no longer use but have left on my SSD "just cause" until the dust has settled. QUESTION- Can I now delete 1.5 and if so do I simply go into it's folder and run the uninstall exe?? Thanks ahead of time. Jim
  16. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3390738&postcount=64 As posted on page 2. Well I am done tweaking "for now", its time to fly. The above settings look good enough as VR gets for me and with most settings towards the high end or high except flat shadows it will do. I flew with msaa on and 2x and see no difference. DS on. Yes I see some strange shadows and trees but doing 450k at 200ft with no stutters and smooth I will deal with it. ED can tweek it. Time to make some noise and scare the locals. i7,6700k Asus Z170 Delux @4.5, 16 gig W10 MSI 1080TI oced.
  17. And if you can understand it you probably don't need it.
  18. Its a pita but you might try going back and trying older drivers. I am currently using the one before the latest Nvidia driver. When I loaded the latest one I had issues so went back. Problem solved. I should know by now that if something is working don't muck with it. Worth a try. BTW I am MSI 1080TI VR. Also drop all the fancy refresh rates/Samples and keep it simple with default/basic settings. Eliminate all the mostly snake oil settings and once you hopefully get it close then continue the never ending Holy Grail settings.
  19. As I got older and began to notice my eyesight was slowly but surely losing it's ability to read very small print I was very depressed when I bought my 1st pair of reading glasses. Now I take the lemons into lemonade attitude because 90% of these before and afters I cannot see any difference. In VR it really doesn't matter. The only thing other than really bad stutters and pauses are the jaggies which are totally unacceptable. FPS be dammed. Going to crank what ever it takes to eliminate them as for me they are the number one immersion killer.
  20. Everyone involved has their own account of the event and it will morph many times to suit their needs. Can't trust witness accounts, definitely not the Gov or MSM neither pictures of pieces and parts. Regardless of what really happened "never let a crisis go to waste" is in full effect.
  21. I was under the impression from numerous post that Nividia inspector settings have no effect. Can someone confirm or deny this? I really hate chasing these Holy Grail placebo settings only to find out I could have been flying instead. And if they DO, which ones?
  22. Happens to me. Maybe 5 seconds after loading, the DCS screen remains on the tv but the goggles go black. I use to reboot but all I do now is simply go to device manager/action/scan for hardware changes. Then Oculus works fine.
  23. Been at it since Microprose F-19. Radio shack had a Tandy 20 mz machine I paid $3000 for which in todays money is over $6000!!!! The game had ONE graphics setting "advanced iirc" that added a few more triangles, lines etc... Went back and they had a 25 mz !!!!!! The salesmen was like "Why the hell do you need all that power for???? Been tweaking ever since and can recite FS9/FSX/P3D config in my sleep. Good luck.
  24. I built my own systems for 25+ yrs but for my 50th Bday I went to Falcon northwest's site and had them build me the fastest machine. Went VR about a month ago and have been having oom errors with DCS and other dedicated VR games. Suspecting my 16 gigs was the issue I called last week and talked to a tech who also was a simmer. He said 16 is more than enough and actually talked me out of going to 32. He suggested waiting for the prices to go down and then buy 32 all at once of the exact same kind. I then ask about the speed. He said going from DDr4 2400 to 3000 would not be noticable. This is from a guy who builds high end rigs for gamers with deep pockets. That said... If I was building a new computer and not upgrading YES I would get 32 and the fastest ram. BTW- My OOM errors was solved by changing my virtual memory settings to a much larger number and making them identical- 4096- 4096- "static". Has not crashed again.
  25. Have not flown the Vig or any in 2 days. A sinus headache and VR do not go together. My main issue is still the cockpit glass "fogging up" during turns into the sun. It is either turn OFF shadows or go from flat to low which really kills performance on my high end system. I am guessing at least 20% and stutters. I have been told Nvidia inspector does nothing so there does not appear to be to much tweaking that can be done unless someone knows something I don't.
