After Oculus Quest 2 Update VR is not playable because of flickering
dutchili replied to LOW_Hitman's topic in VR Bugs
i have no solution for that. If i recall it took some thing the other day before one of the two updates presented itself. Perhaps you can contact support@... -
After Oculus Quest 2 Update VR is not playable because of flickering

i recognize this when you have textures set to high or when the oculus app on windows is a different version from the one in the headset -

Installing this week's release of nvidia driver worked wonders for performance with oc2 and rtx3070. Running oc2 on openxr runtime without opencomposite, pd 1.0 and oc2 upscaling set to 1.5 (max). 36 fps @72hz in simple missions is near perfect. never got the optimization mentioned here to work. Any short instruction good oc2? my issue is that i don't get to see the menu after installing opencomposite and manually copying the dll to DCs/bin -
Fully agree. Often there is no response. Same with wingman. And both keep repeating themselves.

Can we change that around? Which local settings will impact the 'simulation' the most?
-
Thanks @BIGNEWY. I thought that mission, ai, tasks etc where server side processing. Am i wrong? However it works, do you have advice on increasing performance in Syria MP through my local settings?
-
Question to ED (@bignewy): In the performance overlay i notice a big difference in the item 'simulation', between the Caucasus map and Syria. FPS is around 18 in Syria with Simulation indicating 25. FPS is around 36 in Caucasus with Simulation indicating 10. The syria server was running the foothold mission, while caucasus was running no mission. Can you explain what 'simulation' means and how this can be effected so my performance is better in Syria?

investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8
dutchili replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I suggest that ED builds in performance logging so ED is not dependent on us, and can run a proper statistical analysis on what system+config gives what performance. Building in some regression testing would also prevent the general OB public going crazy over broken stuff. -
I've experienced multiple times in multi-player that the wheel brake in the F-16 does not work after landing. I experience this in 2.8 (patched). It's not the first OB release in which this has happened. When pressing a button on the joystick assigned to the wheel brake, nothing happens. The binding is correct, and even after setting it again, there is no response. The parking brake does work, but ....well.....not really a good idea. The issue remains until leaving the server. Selecting a new role does not solve it. It immediately works again in single-player. Something similar seems to happen with locking targets. When they appear as a solid yellow symbol, i sometimes cannot lock them.

F-16 bounces of the ground instead of crash in Red Flag campaign
dutchili replied to dutchili's topic in Bugs and Problems
I don't have a track. They run out of fuel near the end of the mission. Track file is too big to upload. But it is very reproducable. -
Let's hope for an update. In contrast to many others is in had increased performance when 2.8 was released so I guess something changed that really helped (my oculus). It was gone with the patch and I had turn things back down too. Just imagine what happens with multi core. We might see close to similar performance as 2d. I like that thought!!

investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8
dutchili replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
With 2.8 i was able to put terrain shadows back on with smooth performance. With the hotfix my performance is back down to 2.7 (perceived, not measured). Also i see more aliasing in the F-16 cockpit and noticed that contrails are back to good looking, but sometimes rendered in below clouds while the plane is flying above the clouds. So aside from the rendering itself, the 'layer' seems of interest as well. (ocuslus quest 2, rtx 3070, i7, openXR runtime) -
Same here on F16 red flag campaign

investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8

Are you guys just looking at the fps counter? I am totally happy from when it displays 36. When i tune down my settings to get more fps, it doesn't improve the perceived fps. I do notice a increase in have performance (locking target, zooming the tgp etc) When i set the oc settings to 90hz DCs says 45, but I perceive 20. That was at least the case in 2.7 In use oq2 and openxr (not modified), with Intel i7 and rtx3080. Pd at 1.4 36 fps when you in the air. Game respons is much better now even when fps is at 18 and feels like 18. -
2.8 loading textures takes a loooooong time.
dutchili replied to Das Boot's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Actually quite happy with this as it seems the first sign of asynchronous processing. Before, you would have stutters while loading. Now the game respond while loading the textures. -
You need to set it again through controls. Something changed causing the key bind not to work anymore. Center view through oculus if you have to to see the menu.

OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)

The issue is less visible at lower settings. I think the shown FPS is not the real FPS (in DCS). i mean end-to-end. -

Check your Oculus app to see which runtime is used (settings page). -

No. Maybe this helps if your settings are indeed correct: (minute 09:48) -

at PD < 1.0 you can also set textures to Low, because you won't see the difference with High, unless you zoom in. -

I tried forcing SteamVR, but no luck. Performance of OpenXR is a little better than Oculus VR, especially noticeable in multiplayer. However....having all settings at 'max' and PD at 1.0 still provides issues in VR for me (Quest 2, 3070, i7). When reducing to 0.9 i all works again....but at that resolution there is not use in having max settings.... It is really time for multi-threading so that we can play 'max settings' in VR with half the same frame rate as we get in non-vr.
