Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
kylania replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
BF3's Hornet sequence is essentially a pre-rendered cutscene with almost no player interaction. It can hardly be used as a comparison against a flight sim. Nothing more than a rail shooter, not a sim in any way. -
I ended up making a few changed to the trim system. I entirely removed the "Remove Trim" button, both since it's mentioned in the manual that in RL it doesn't exist and it tends to make my Ka-50 back flip when I use it. I'm gonna replace it with "x" to help recenter the rudder after a trim. So to trim I'll forward then backwards the CMS button. I then changed CMS left to toggle Auto pilot Alt-Hold for after using Hover Hold since that turns on, and leaves on, Alt-hold. Then I added CMS right to toggle Flight Director. I never use it, but seems OK to have there.

I'm more bothered that the red lines on the tarmac don't line up with the building or the surrounding white lines, they are slightly off and it's driving me mad. :)

Training mission- target recognition
kylania replied to Speed's topic in User Created Missions General
They were told multiple times there were no friendly units in the area and were given specific permission to engage. A tragic incident indeed, but I feel the blame is in the lack of proper communication from all parties, not specifically with the pilots. -
The center trim box in the Misc options means you need to return your stick (and rudder!) back to center before controlling your airframe again. Personally it made flying virtually impossible for me with the Warthog and rudder pedals. The whole rudder is tied to trim is causing me problems too. :)

Please go the "Open Beta" route next time.
kylania replied to PeterP's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I don't believe this is a "final" release. For Black Shark 1 I sure do, but for Black Shark 2 it's the initial release of the true DCS version of it. So for "DCS" there will most certainly be new patches coming out that will affect A-10C and BS2 both since the code base is the same now. They can't not patch BS2 anymore since it needs to remain compatible with A-10C which will continue to get patches. -
The Black Shark 2 video tutorials at the DCS website are the same as the Black Shark 1 videos (super low rez graphics, bad audio) but they properly install into the training folder of a BS2 install. They are helpful sure, but not at all as nice as A-10C training.

Radio usage in BlackShark 2; some questions.
kylania replied to MadTommy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Not sure if anyone noticed yet, but much of the Chapter 14 Radio Communications section of the Black Shark 2 manual refers to the Black Shark 1 radio commands format and not the new "DCS A-10C" style radio menus. Starting on page 488 section 14.1 which states that the radios are set to 127.500 and never need to be changed, which is incorrect as each airfield has their own frequencies now. Also some of the F1-F9 menus are different now, such as F5 for ATC instead of F6 as described on page 489. -
Radio usage in BlackShark 2; some questions.

I saw a video the other night about how to input a L/L location using the Abris. Basically you scroll up or down to find the Northing then left or right to find the Easting. By the time you entered the JTAC's request as a waypoint the war would be over. :) They can't use UTM either, so most of the contact would be via radio talk on, something AI JTAC can't really do. -

What's the fundamental difference between this release and an open beta release? You pay money for both, you get updates for both, both have bugs. I'm just not seeing how it would be any different. Even if it was beta and they released some patch that broke your joystick you still wouldn't have had any pre-warning that it wasn't going to work and it would still be broken till it was fixed. -
DCS: BS2 graphics -- with the times, or ahead of the times?
kylania replied to Stretch's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Not sure, I just compared the performance matrix for the two cards, but even the 6970 would be years ahead (literally) of the 5870. :smilewink: -
I usually eject. :) Manual reversion is difficult to use since you rarely have enough structure left in order to actually use that system. You're either fine or you're missing a wing most times.

Why do you need a specific Best Buy SKU? Why isn't "Do you have DCS A-10C in stock?" enough?
-
Did you already have a SPI set? TMS Aft Long is "Move SPI to steerpoint" not "Make SPI at steerpoint". So not sure that would work if you didn't already have a SPI. I'll try that tonight.
-
You don't need the red steps in there at all, but you were forgetting to set the target as SPI (the added step in blue there). Here's a video that shows the process from slewing the TGP, to setting up AutoLase, to selecting the target and setting it as SPI, to hitting the target. It's a little fast, but I added some annotations for you.

BS2 Video showing off the new CBU models
kylania replied to Ranger79's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I've just made a video that shows the various stages of the CBU-97s up close, assuming YouTube doesn't ruin it that is. Should be uploaded in 20 minutes or so. :) Here it is! Enjoy. -
Another thread mentioned that "auto hover" isn't really "auto hover" but instead "hover hold". Also that it should only be activated when you're close to stopped. It also said that if you have the Flight Director thing on that'll prevent hover hold from working at all.

Whichever format you want to use to be honest. Personally I enjoy playing missions where each one is different so I'd change up the formats as I could. Sometimes L/L, sometimes UTM. Bulleye Offset is broken, but fixed soon so that'll be OK too. Descriptions are OK as long as they are clear enough, tossing some smoke would be useful as well. I'm not entirely sure how easy data input on the fly is for the Abris, but for the A-10C at least all data entry is quick and easy so there's no one method that I prefer really.
