  1. Your point is exactly why he was told he's playing it wrong. He didn't ask how to do those things, he asked how to do those things in "game mode", which for a study sim like A-10C is essentially "wrong". :) As you pointed out, weapons systems are very easy to employ and the posts were telling him that. As long as you know how to fly the systems are a snap to learn. Just have to get the concept of how to set the SPI then the steps to target SPI with whatever system and you're golden. Glad you're both enjoying things. :)
  2. Is your game fully patched? There was a hotfix for invisible infantry.
  3. I mapped it all to the CMS button as that's where your thumb naturally sits. CMS forward to set trim. CMS right for toggle FD. CMS left for toggle ALT HOLD. CMS back for umm.. can't remember. Trim Release I think, but I never use it.
  4. Last I read about this was this post.
  5. Looks great, his Senaki stuff was amazing looking.
  6. You must have TrackIR with the ProClip. You must have the TM Warthog. You must have rudder pedals (since the Warthog doesn't have rudder). Anyone telling you anything else is poor and wishes they had the Warthog. :) You can "get by" with the X52 or a free track webcam workaround and the x and z keys, but really... to get the most out of the game and play it mostly stress free and immersively, you need all of the above if you can at all afford it. TrackIR completely changes the game for you. The Warthog absolutely changes the game for you. Rudder pedals help you avoid taking hands off HOTAS. The X52 is a superb joystick and works really well and has great features however if you can afford it get the Warthog. Get it. Do it. Now.
  7. Don't map separate buttons for "short" and "long". Simply press and release a button for "short" and hold it for a second and release it for "long", just the one button. Also, yes, the Warthog stick totally changes the game. As you guessed you stop having to remember what's mapped to what and you end up flying the plane rather than flying the controller. :)
  8. What you want and what is possible are two different things. You need to either readjust how you fly or readjust what you want.
  9. Don't think any are mapped by default, but there are mapable options for the UFC steer rocker. Or just use DMS up/down with HUD as SOI.
  10. How large of a correction are you trying to trim anyway? For me I was trying to do large corrections and was wildly tilting and pulling around. As soon as I started doing very small trims flight was so much smoother. Try multiple 2-5 degree trims rather than a 20-30 degree one maybe? If you could post a track of what you're doing I think it would be the best way of figuring out how to get you the control you want.
  11. Which autopilots are you using? Are you also using Flight Director?
  12. Wait for the Release Cue line to be between the Min and Max Range Carets and drop then. While it's between them the MAN REL will appear above the ARM notation on the left.
  13. Sounds like you don't want to use central position trimmer mode if you want to be able to press trimmer again without recentering it. Turn Center off and see how it flies. Have you tried that?
  14. All you need to do is shut down the engines to get your repairs to start. So if you're damaged just land, taxi to the parking area. Contact ground crew and turn on external power. Shut down your engines. Wait 3 minutes. The repairs will happen. Then rearm or refuel, reset your DSMS. Start up your engines and disconnect ground power once you're up. Then go. No need to realign or redo any other systems.
  15. Tacview = http://lomac.strasoftware.com/tacview-en.php
  16. I tried to make a little demo mission of blowing up a bridge with a GBU-38 via MRGS coords then using a GBU-12 to knock out a truck that was driving towards the bridge. However, with the new AI instead of the truck just stopping at the destroyed bridge it drove up the river and forded across at a low point!! Damn you smart AI! :)
  17. You do but during taxi you can easily enough use z/x to steer. During takeoff it gets a bit hectic trying to stay on course using them, but you're full throttle anyway so it's not too bad. I never really used rudder in flight till I got the pedals to be honest. Now I'm able to taxi smoother and line up gun runs much better, but take off is still a crazy jumble of overcorrections! heh
  18. Those are the ones I use and they work great. Needed some curves set and an axis reversed but otherwise wonderful. I'd definitely wait for them to go on sale though. They are normally $100 but often can be found as low as $70.
  19. There are three icons at the top of this forum. Click and buy them all. :)
  20. Set SPI, slew Mav to SPI, wait for range, track, fire. MAVs aren't as difficult to use as you might imagine. Actually none of the weapon systems are that difficult. :) I highly suggest you take a look at the DCS A-10C QuickStart Guide EN PDF that's in your Docs folder of your A-10C install. Pages 29-30 explain how to select a target with TGP or Mav and page 37 explains how to attack with a Maverick. DCS A-10C is definitely a study sim. While you can play it at a pretty basic level without knowing everything about every system it's not exactly a good source of arcade quick-and-dirty action. :)
  21. Coz they are there and light up, but do nothing. Seems silly to have added it but have it do nothing. Personally I'd love it it made little avi clips of either the HUD view or Mav view or something like that. I wanna be able to click that button and see this video later: instead of just having a track that'll eventually break. :)
  22. Yup! I usually put a HEMTT tanker and like an Avenger or HMMWV somewhere around there.
  23. You need a friendly land vehicle at the airfield in order to use Ground Crew there. There's a bunch of JTAC stuff around, but not many step by step newbie guides explaining what it all means, just how to do it. Here's a good video of the steps: The playtime is just how much time you'll have available to be in the area I believe. I'm not entirely sure if there's an in game effect if you tell it one time frame vs another though.
  24. Very nice! I might have to switch back to 18x GBU-12 or 6 MAV loadouts now though with all those targets heh. :)
