Difficult to re-arm in black shark 2
kylania replied to Mohamengina's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It seems you need a ground unit at the airfield/FARP you want to repair/rearm at now I think? -
Hah, I usually sit lower so never see that bottom row of buttons. That's so much easier than looking down at the CDU and trying to remember if it's left click or right click to switch to Mark. Thanks for the tip!
-
Your sarcasm detector seems misaligned. :smilewink: Read the whole thread but where you see "Black Shark" replace it with "this thread" and you'll see I neatly summed the thread up. So yes, it's all been said by now, you're right. heh

A-10 C - tips & tricks collection gathered in one PDF
kylania replied to hreich's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
That bug is being fixed with this weeks patch so the fix won't be necessary by the time the PDF is updated. :) -
Sounds like it didn't have enough energy to correct it's flight path. How high were you when you dropped it and how close to the target?
-
Don't bring logic into this! :) Not sure why you're still not having luck with the new installer. :( Haven't seen any reports of it not working. You've activated your games right? As in started at least one mission?
-
If you have a preset waypoint that's up in the area simply hook it on the TAD and TMS Right Short to create a Mark at that location. The Mark will be at ground level, just switch your SPI to that to quickly slew your TGP to it. Bah, ninja'd. To slew your TGP to it switch from Flight Plan to Mark on the knob below the CDU. That will set your steerpoint to your Mark instead of waypoints. Then just China Hat Aft Long to slew your sensors to your current steerpoint. Hold C on the keyboard I think it is?

You apparently don't need to uninstall 1.02 before installing Black Shark 2.

I dunno, I'm digging the English voice's accent. Then again I've always been a fan of 'proper voices', like I can only play Silent Hunter 5 with German voices.

Got a link or model number for the touch screen?

FC2 can only fly against BS1 A-10C can only fly against BS2 BS1 or FC2 cannot fly against BS2 or A-10C (This is as of 1.1.1.0 of BS2/A-10C)
-
Ahh, after watching you fly and trying it myself I noticed two things. 1) I truly can't fly and 2) I was doing it totally wrong. I kept activating trim, then releasing it then trying to reset it. By simply repeatedly setting it, I flew a lot steadier.

1) Yes, the current "upgrade" installer works with the Steam version of Black Shark 1. 2) Not as easily as you can get a credit card I imagine. :)

They should just announced DCS: F-18 coming out next month with EDGE, then make the Nevada map an optional DLC. That way I get to fly my Hornet soon and the whole "Nevada is paid for but mostly free" thing won't piss off players much. Then they could release a series of DCS: F-18 "Sea Theater" maps, one for each ocean! Development time should be really quick since they'll all be exclusively water only maps, just tinted with different weather patterns of course. Price them at $10 each! Then charge $40 (or $20 if you own any previous DCS module product) for a ocean <-> land map compatibility upgrade so your carrier based F-18 can fly from it's ocean map onto the Georgia or Nevada map. Of course this would force the DCS-verse to acknowledge that California has fallen into the ocean to explain Nellis being beach front property. Maybe I should join ED as their marketing guy!
-
You know because ED just told you. :smilewink: It's all the same except for the installer part I think, some people were having success renaming the old bin files to the new names and installing after just downloading the new exe. But it's basically just "the installer" there's no "old" or "new" there's just "this is BS2". The old version doesn't exist anymore. heh

There's a few ways it could go: 1. It's released as a "DCS add-on" which works for both or either game. All pre-order A-10C pilots gets it for free, and many already have BS2, so it sells almost nothing. Everyone is happy, except for ED. 2. It's release as a separate add-on for either A-10 or BS2 individually. All pre-order A-10C pilots get it for free but everyone needs to buy it for BS2, even though they "already have it" for A-10C. No one is happy, probably not even ED. 3. It's released as a DCS add-on which works for both or either game, but it's $40 for everyone. All pre-order A-10C pilots get it for $20 getting "the map" for free but in order to still make money ED charges for EDGE upgrades to both games. Not sure who'd be happy with this scenario to be honest. The most money for ED, but getting around the "you're getting it for free" thing would be really tricky. None of those scenarios are really good for both the fans and ED, so hopefully their marketing team is smarter than I! :)

Those are clouds. ;) Try to get a screenshot maybe?
-
You don't have to do it, but it's there if you want to. For example if you just start moving they'll come back with a "Ok, clear to taxi!" comment. I guess the only one you'd have to do is asking for ground power.
-
No information yet. I'm hoping it'll be a "DCS" add-on rather than a "DCS: A-10C" add-on and therefore work for both A-10C or BS2. DCS: Nellis AFB :) Since the technology and code base of BS2 and A-10C are the same now that should be quite possible. No need for three years of upgrades in this case. My only fear is what ED is going to do since that product will be "free" for many A-10C owners.

Yup! Though you'll rarely change airports during a mission I wouldn't think. Maybe to divert to one. When you place a unit on the map you can preset their airfield frequency via the COMM field of the unit properties.
-
You can press F10 to get to the map then click on the blue circle icon in the middle of an airfield to select it. Then at the bottom of the screen will be a data display with the airfield's frequency on it. Or something like this. Seems the only one the image I linked above is missing is Breslan (141.00 Mhz) which is listed on pages 518 and 519 of the BS2 Manual.

You can't just close a thread without letting everyone know! ED promised this thread would remain open and now they just want to close it? I guess we'll have to pay $2 for each thread we want closed from now on!? I guess the whole idea of forums is done for now, I'm going back to a BBS. This thread is basically the same as the original Black Shark released thread, nothing new other than Viper's avatar anyway.

When I was trying to get the hang of the trim system it seemed like I needed to do a series of very small trims in order to get the stick to trim level. Like, I had to push the stick WAY forward to counter act the 90 degree straight upward tendency of the helicopter without touching the stick. Then I had to pull back a little, trim. Wait, pull back a bit more, trim again, wait. and so on. If I did anything too drastic when I trimmed and let go it would basically backflip the Ka-50. Each smaller trim didn't tilt way back like a full trim would. I still never really felt like I was flying it though. After reading a bit, it seems these might be my troubles: and Interestingly on topic, this is also in the QuickStart guide, making this entire thread seem really odd: "The best way to simulate proper trim mechanics in the simulation is through a Force Feedback joystick. However, because many flight simmers use non-FF sticks, the solution implemented is to introduce a short pause in control input when the trim button is released, to give the player a moment to recenter his joystick."

The mapping I'm using is to the speedbreak button. Locked forward position is x23 and middle is x7, so switching back and forth between the two works nicely. The hold back setting on that switch isn't mapped.

I was running through a full startup and noticed that while testing the Fire Supression system the Master Warning Lamp and FIRE Warning Lamp were not lit up as they were in the video I was watching from BS1. Is this intended?
