  1. Yes, they still have flaws, but people still buy them and mod them. I just bought one 2 months ago, it has the uber mod, but I may go force sensing.

Yes, I'm currently in Guam, but stationed at Barksdale. Well, welcome and hope you enjoy it.
  3. My sister-in-law lives in Fargo and we were thinking about making a trip up there.
  4. Awesome thread, it won't let me rep you.
  5. I'm gonna guess he is talking about missiles?

Small world, I'm in Louisiana, Barksdale AFB (Shreveport/Bossier City) to be exact.
  7. Guess that came out wrong, but oh well. In short, it's their server and they'll do with it what they think will work. With the instability of having the amount of players in a server like FC2 was, this is what they came up with. I won't fly in a server that is only A2A or A2G......often, cause I think that sucks and doesn't offer me the feeling of a war zone. I have flown in df servers because it was fun, but it's not something I'd do all the time. I know Speed has knowledge about certain things, but as he pointed out he only does DCS stuff, not FC3. Which is what a lot of people fly in the 104th server. Read what Case said and you'll see why a lot of people fly FC3. It's always been that way and will be that way for a long time to come.

Before you drop some serious money on a HOTAS, make sure you are going to want to play/fly flight sims for a while. You don't want to buy stuff, then 5 months later stop flying. You can always "step up" with different HOTAS systems. I would recommend CH also, because you can get the stick, throttle and rudder pedals for the same cost as a Warthog. Another thing you'll have to look at is buying a TrackIR or making one.
  9. That looks good and that's a lot of wires!
  10. Very good post and this is how a lot of people fly and want "quick action and easy kills". Some people don't have the time, patience or just don't care to learn tactics on how to kill another player and stay alive at the same time. Maybe it was the way I read the post from you and Mav. I know he said he doesn't fly in your server because of certain reasons, so he doesn't have a full knowledge that you guys have cause you fly in it everyday.
  11. Mav and Rip, I think he was just trying to help out and you guys just raped him. Hope the problem with having a good amount of people in servers get fixed.
  12. I like cheese on my burgers I voted 64-bit, no need staying in the past, unless you have programs that need 32-bit.
  13. If you can get the 5, buy it. I've had the 2, 4 and 5 and I noticed a difference between the 4 and 5. Here is a comparison of the 4 and 5 http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/02-products/trackir-product-comparison.html
  14. I built my own CH profile also, it worked out better for me. However, I just deleted every action on the stick and throttle. That way, all I had to do was figure out where I wanted the commands to go. I wanted mine to be as close to real as I could get, but kinda hard to do with the throttle. Good luck in getting everything sorted out, CH is a really good set-up. Have fun on building a pit, that is going to be fun for you.
  15. CH is a very good combo, the Warthog is good, but it cost $350-500 dollars. Then you'll still need to buy a TrackIR and rudder pedals. Get the CH first and if you don't like it, you can sale it later and get something else. With teamspeak, you don't need to buy anything, servers have already did that. All you need to do is download and install it.
  16. Those displays look similar to the 130 I flew in, I think I have pics back on my home computer.
  17. I got mine from a weapons troop when I was stationed in Alaska.
  18. I just use a bigger monitor and fill in the extra space with gauges, comms, etc...plus it's cheaper.
  19. CH sticks are very precise even after years of use. Being precise is one of CH strong points. I had one from 2003 to 2011 and it worked the same in 2011 as it did when I first opened it up in 2003. I sold it for a modded cougar, which lasted about 1 month. I soild the cougar and bought a fraken-potato modded CH and guess what, it was like I had my old CH back, no issues. I don't even know how l=old it is, but guess what, it doesn't matter....cause CH works. I agree that CH does need to update some stuff, however, that isn't one thing I was thinking of.
  20. There are some current and ex-pilots in here, as well as military, but the majority of us here are hobbyists.
  21. Wow, you are a lil guy, I'm 205, but I'm also 6'2". My chair doesn't swivel either.
  22. Lmbo, it wouldn't go anywhere but down. The engines only produce about 17,000 lbs of thrust. Saw one take off the other day with 300k of fuel onboard and we were scared for the pilots. The left wing was low, the right wing was high and this was when it started it's take off roll down the runway. The jet only holds 312k of fuel, the most I've seen on before the other day was a 280k load. The Aussy Airbus A330 MRTT only has 2 engines, but they are freaking huge! I wonder how flying it with one engine would be like. It's a tanker and can hold 380 passengers. Wish I could have taken pictures of the inside and of the air crew :) they were sexy looking.
  23. I rep'ed him for you and me
  24. 2013 Defenders of Liberty Air Show Cancelled... http://www.barksdale.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123339898
  25. Yes, if the aircraft is available for both players. EDIT: Viper beat me to it.
