  1. Should we not be able to use CCIP CR 5 mil with the CBU-97? Even when I set 5 mil in the menu it shows me CR 3/9 when CBU-97 selected... I had a loadout of CBU-97 and MK82 AIR, I set CCIP and CR 5 mil. I select a MK82, the HUD shows me in 5 mil CR mode. I then select a CBU-97 the HUD shows me in 3/9 CR mode even though in the IFFCC menu I still have 5 mil selected. Am I missing something? Interesting to note that when a CBU-87 is selected it will display 5 mil in CCIP.

    ALT ALRT?

Thanks BlueRidgeDx! Appreciate the insight.

    ALT ALRT?

Thanks for the reply BlueRidgeDX. So to clarify, if you wanted to drop a bomb and did not want to descend below 10,000', you would adjust the DSMS MIN ALT setting to 10,000' in order to determine the appropriate MRS for weapon release? For a gun run if you wanted a 10,000' min alt warning you would set it in the IFFCC 30MM menu? Getting back to the UFC ALT ALRT... when would it normally be used? Cheers
  4. When employing weapons is it realistic to use the Altitude Alert function on the UFC as a min altitude alert? I am thinking of the time when target fixation occurs and I fly into AA range or terrain while lining up the pipper for the perfect shot... Having the ALT ALRT preset to a min ceiling could help in this regard as an audible reminder. Anyone use it for this purpose? Or is it better to use the DSMS weapon profile MIN ALT function for this purpose? Thanks.

  7. Merry Christmas to my fellow Hawgs!
  8. LOL. F-15 Dino view... but that does not look like Nevada terrain!
  9. The steering bars/command bar/flight director bars are not currently steering/commanding or directing, they are repeating the gs/loc. If they were working correctly the pilot simply centers the steering bars, manouvering to keep them centered, and it's easy as pie to fly a very accurate ILS right down the loc and slope. As it is now in the DCS A-10C the flight director/steering bars are porked and should be stowed. Stow them and you can fly a nice raw data ILS using the gs and loc indications as presented on the ADI and HSI. Good practice! "To maneuver the airplane using the flight director, the pilot enters the desired modes of operation (heading, altitude, nav intercept, and tracking) on the FD/AP mode controller. The computed flight commands are then displayed to the pilot through a dual-cue system, the commands are displayed on two separate command bars, one for pitch and one for roll. To maneuver the airplane using computed commands, the pilot “flies” the symbolic airplane of the FCI to match the steering cues presented." ILS GS and LOC representation is correct. Yellow steering bars are wrong. The gs and loc indications as presented on the ADI and HSI are correct. What is not correct is the functioning of the yellow steering bars. If you want to shoot an ILS as it is now, you should stow the malfunctioning steering bars and use the raw loc/gs info as presented on the ADI and HSI. 10. Did you notice how he phrased that? He said "You can't". He did not say it wan't possible. So perhaps, he, being a beta tester, can make the binoc's work in a later, yet to be released version. (while test flying the Hornet over Nevada) ;)
  11. Are you entering the new alt in scratchpad first then push OSB?
  12. UFC>FUNC>POS MFCD to CDU select LSK7 to cycle between IAS, TAS, GS.
  13. Winds aloft info - use the CDU WAYPT page to display winds aloft info. Groundspeed - go to CDU POSINFO page and using the airspeed LSK toggle CDU speed between IAS/TAS/GS MACH - (if you want a laugh) from CDU POSINFO page.
  14. Thanks WW. Weird. Yesterday the link worked on my ipad, today no. Works on the pc though. Thanks again.
  15. Here's the definition of turbulence: Light - Turbulence that momentarily causes slight, erratic changes in altitude and/or attitude. Occupants may feel a slight strain against belets or shoulder straps. Unsecured objects may be displaced slightly Food service may be conducted and little or no difficult is encountered in walking. Moderate - Changers in altitude and/or attidtude occur but the aircraft remains in positive control at all times. It usually causes variations in indicated airspeed. Occupants feel definite strains against seat belts or shoulder straps. Unsecured objects are dislodgeed. Food service and walking are difficult. Severe - Turbulence that causes large, abrupt changes in altitude and/or attitude. It usually causes large variations in indicated airspeed. Aircraft may be momentarily out of control. Occupants are forced violently against seat belts or shoulder straps. Unsecured objects are tossed about. Food service and walking are impossible. Extreme - Turbulence in which the aircraft is violently tossed about and is practically impossible to control. It may cause structural damage. IRL when you get MDT or above it is not fun any more... Have seen where full scale control deflections side to side was required to keep the blue side up. When this happens on approach it is usually a good indication to get out of there. Use superior judgement to prevent situations requiring superior skill.
  16. You have never seen formation flying like this... :joystick:
  17. Sweet. Thanks for the clarification.
  18. Ok back to the OP question of hitting targets in bad wx... I made a mission with a solid overcast layer at about 1600'. In the mission editor I placed WP1 directly over the enemy control tower at Nalchik. Took off climbed up through the overcast layer and leveled off on top at 15,000'. I then made my TGP SOI, slewed TGP to WP1, made a SPI at this point and then dropped a GBU-38 GPS guided JDAM through the clouds and had a direct hit on the target. Very kewl. My question is this... is this the correct use of the TGP to use the JDAM though cloud cover? The TGP cannot "see" through the clouds, but am I correct in that even though it cannot see through the clouds, it knows the exact coordinates of where it is aimed at the ground? TGP info goes to the JDAM, and target goes boom. Cheers
  19. Hey Polar-ex! Welcome to the Hogs Pen. :) I agree with you. To call DCS A-10 a game is an insult. Cheers
  20. Hah. That WAS at high speed. One Paveway II, one Litening pod, and I did everything else except strip the paint off her to lighten the load... If you want longer stand-off range I think you are going to need a Paveway III. A launch vehicle capable of imparting more energy to the weapon at point of release would be required as well. Here is an article that talks about the longest flight of a Paveway II achieving 12 nm range, dropped from a USN F/A-18 at China Lake test range. http://www.spacedaily.com/news/gps-05zzzl.html Too bad we don't have an F/A-18 in the DCS world to try that eh? :)
  21. Killed a tank with a GBU-12. Dropped the LGB from 32,000' @ 4.6 nm from tank. (not slant range)
  22. Gorgeous pics!
  23. Check out these threads. I have had this happen also. (unexplained engine flame-outs). Apparently it is a known problem and it appears ED may have a fix for it. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3432407/1.html http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1336613&postcount=11
  24. If those are trees... that is one bug mutha UAV!
  25. Looks fantastic! This will be a great upgrade. I just hope I don't have to upgrade my hardware to run it. :)
