INITIAL - APPROACH 250 - 300 KIAS DOWNWIND - MAINTAIN 150 KIAS MINIMUM BEFORE ESTABLISHING LANDING Configuration BASE - SPEED BRAKES 40%. LANDING GEAR DOWN. FLAPS AS REQUIRED. FINAL TURN - MAINTAIN ON SPEED AOA INDICATION -- BUT NO SLOWER THAN COMPUTED AIRSPEED (135/145 KIAS; FLAPS DN/UP). FINAL APPROACH - MAINTAIN ON SPEED AOA INDICATION -- BUT NO SLOWER THAN COMPUTED AIRSPEED (120/130 KIAS; FLAPS DN / UP). From the A-10a flight manual. (sorry about the caps)

This above is how it works in the sim. 80% in flight 100% with WOW. You can see this on landing. Open as much as you can on short final, then after touchdown look at the speed brakes and you will see you can now further extend them to 100%. From the A-10a manual: The speed brakes fully open or close in approximately 3 seconds. On the ground, opening time is slightly less and closing time is slightly more. A limit switch limits the speed brakes to the 800"/0 position during flight, and precludes holding positions of less than 100"/0. The squat switch on the left main landing gear allows 1000io deployment on the ground.

The DCS A-10C is the finest combat aircraft study sim ever imo. If study sims are of interest to you check out some of the reviews. At it's current sale price of $15.99 you would be hard pressed to get more BANG from your buck imo. You may also want to check out the wicked awesome Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttle. :)

Just visually check the air brakes out the canopy. You can also get a rough approximation of the amount of air brake deflection by the amount of time thumbing the switch.

Best craft in DSC for complex detailed sim/features?

+1 for the DCS A-10C. The ED team created a work of art. -
Hi using 1.2.6. 1) Does the JTAC command "bino view object padlock Num_." work? Maybe I am doing something wrong. (single player mode) 2) Turret stabilization "V" is this one working? I am not noticing a difference when selecting V. Thanks! Picked up CA on sale. Lots of fun.

DCS 1.2.7 Open Beta - Preliminary Changelog
lobo replied to Mike Busutil's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
It does not come with Nevada. Kidding. (kinda) :megalol: -
Maybe someone can look into this and fix it. There is after all a DCS Eagle wiki link on the top of each and every forum page. Needs to be editable so we can fix the broken links. I'm sure there are people new to the DCS products that still look to the wiki for help. :helpsmilie:

Bingo fuel - most adequatre thrust for saving?
lobo replied to eFirehawk's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
On the topic of fuel and Bingo... Lobo's DCS A-10C Normal Checklist & Quick Reference Handbook **Updated to Revision 8c** Revision 8c includes several editorial changes, corrections and additions. The RWR threat chart and Mission data card have been updated. Two new charts have been added to help with performance planning. Have you wondered how much fuel is actually required for a particular mission? or what is the BINGO fuel? To help answer these questions I have added two new charts to aid those looking for more realistic performance planning. The first new chart is a drag index chart which is helpful when getting into the performance charts. (I’ve added space on the mission data card to record the drag index on each station.) The second new chart is a fuel planning worksheet, which should be quite helpful in calculating mission fuel load, Playtime fuel , BINGO fuel, and landing weight. Note: the user will still be required to go into the T.O. 1A-10A-1-1 performance charts for calculating unknown factors in the fuel planning worksheet. I suggest the following charts from T.O. 1A-10A-1-1; Figure A4-1 (Optimum Cruise Altitude for Short Range Missions), Figure A3-1 (Maximum Thrust Climb, 2 sheets), Figure A4-3 (Constant Altitude Cruise, two sheets), and A6-2 (Combat Fuel Flow). I’ve also added space on the mission data card to record the drag index (read from the new drag index chart), on each station. Full details of changes in this revision are noted in the summary of changes located on page 42. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/172905/ -

Now imagine this with a high fidelity flight sim such as DCS A-10C, DCS P-51, DCS F/A-18 etc.. :pilotfly: Oculus Rift And Castar... The virtual world is rapidly evolving.

DCS simming plus the Rift has huge potential. I will definitely be getting an OR. Re the problem of seeing the keyboard... Maybe an option would be to have the bottom of the goggles made of a smoked translucent plastic? Could be made so that this translucent bit has some sort of cover for times when it is not required to see out the bottom. Off to the BBQ.

On page 32 of my A-10c checklist I've included a threat chart. Max engagement range/alt tested using player controlled A-10C. (exceptions were the SA-3, SA-10, SA-11 as these weapons reach well beyond the ceiling of the A-10C) Available for download here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/172905/

Come to the edge. We might fall. Come to the edge. It's too high! COME TO THE EDGE! And they came, and he pushed, and they flew. — Christopher Logue Thank you Jim. RIP.

China conducts flight landing on aircraft carrier
lobo replied to lobo's topic in Military and Aviation
What the heck happened to this thread... lol  -
"If the aircraft is operating below Vmca when a thrust imbalance occurs, the pilot must either reduce power on the operative engine(s) or increase airspeed by lowering the nose of the aircraft in order to regain directional control. Both of these options will result in a loss of altitude." and "The large thrust imbalance between the left and the right engines caused the aircraft to depart controlled flight and the aircraft was unrecoverable within the altitude available." There was no saving this one. (unless the failure had occurred at a higher altitude.)
