  1. Not only, jet engines, all combustion engines run better and have more power in cool and dry air. That's why the power of a car engine is rated at sealevel and 15°C with 0% humidity...add humidity and tmperature and power output will decrease. E normal car engine can have up to 15% power rate deviation just through climate conditions.
  2. The problem is well known, but on the other hand, there are plenty of products that are made to last...but those come with a pricetag not much people are willing to pay.

Well there's more than just ED. But in fact even after 1 year almost all games are still not bugfree but at least free of the absolute showstoppers.
  4. Hey good news this means the price for HD68xx will drop soon.

Enthusiast can wait until a game is finally playable and that usually not until it gets at least one full patch. Addicts need their fix immediately and pay by acting as beta testers. Pro-Gamers wait till a game comes out in some kind of gold edition...fully patched and 25% less in price.
  6. I think that business goes as it went al the decades before. Someone invets something that is state of the art but 20 years later its an old hat and not that much of a wonder weapon anymore. Currently this is happening to radar stealth. In another 20 years stealth will be so common even to smaller countries "home builds" the way microelectronics is today.
  7. I have seen this quite often happening in ArmA II on 48 player CTI (capture the island) servers. Ejected Players often stay in the area to gather recon what got them. (AA is thick in base areas) Sometimes a Pilot even manages to land a helo with engine failure and tries to get it airborne again. Sometimes the players in the back have to help the pilot to defend till help arrives (Helicopters are expensive and you have to buy your gear) And sometimes you abandon the aircraft, blow it up so that the OPFOR can't capture it and ask for Evac by a fellow UH-60 pilot....don't forget to pop some yellow smoke grenades when you hear the whopwhop sound. But that's another kind of game.
  8. Not only New Zealand. I life in the middle of Germany just 12km from a town with 200.000 inhabitants but still the old 50's telefone lines are so bad no provider gets more than 90kb/s out of it. UTMS is not working here in the forrest hills and Satelite is to expensive. I'm not the only one that depends on DVD version for all content that is above 800MB. And it is well know that this situation is similar in germany in all regions... just 20km outside of the big cities internrt is in it's stone age again. Needless to say that I never ever had the idea to download a game that comes with a 4GB Download.
  9. Just bring the Crimean peninsula back. I alsways wonder where al the ukrainian units have their home since the Crimean was deleted from the game world.
  10. Im still rolling laughing on the floor ! This is so crazy that it gains its own kind of coolness factor!
  11. +1 This is exactly how I exspected a DCS to work. Had I known before how it is done now I had skipped it from the beginning. And I really, really, really miss the crimean peninsula and the Su-25/T in the DCS world now. I had wished that a DCS would keep what is already in, not deleting content to add another.
  12. LockOn:Platinum is a bundle. It's LockOn and Flaming cliffs 2.0 in one box. You need LockOn to install Flaming cliffs. LockOn:Gold was LockOn with Flaming cliffs 1.0 as bundle. I know because I own all of them(unfortunately) You can throw all the old stuff into a bin basically since there are only payware updates since FC2.0 so stay away from ordering any old version as you can't update them anyway.
  14. LockOn was a midcore survey Sim made by ED and published by Ubisoft in 2003. "Flaming Cliffs" was an "Addon" published ED only. In FC the realism level was raised compared to LOMAC especially for the Su-25/T Lock On Platinum is just LockOn and FC in one box. DCS is a new series with Hardcore Sim focus that was planned as Digital Combat Series with more Modules to come, but recently it turned out that you have to buy new updates to DCS whenever a new module comes out. This started with Flaming Cliffs 2.0 and DCS:Black Shark. Basically you habe to buy a new game everytime. I already sunk 239€ in the series over the years just to stay updated. That's basically the same sum I spend for FSX addons...so it's not that unusual, unusual is just that you basically get the same aircraft over and over again.
  15. Only payware addons for quite a while...you should have learned from FC2 and BS2 that ED can sell the same game more than once. FC3 would be a nightmare to the DCS concept. Just think about it how much in a disadvantage you already are in MP environment when using the more complex aircraft like Su25/T and Ka-50 vs. the rock solid and easy avionics Su-27, MíGs and F-15s. They can just push you from the taxiway and go on unharmed while your landing gear collapses on slight impact...(just happened to me today)
  16. So, why should anyone consider to go online with Black Shark2 ??? I already stoped using BS1 in FC2 environment due to low flying EOS Hunters with a hunger for Kamovs and the lack of any Warning receiver for that threat in the Kamov. (Due to bug that will never be fixed for BS1 because of support stop)
  17. I always waited for a DVD release in Form of Gold or Platinum editions so far. The best part in the DVD releases was usually that it were later version that had some patches already. As a expenrinced Gamer I never buy at initial relase date...banana software ripes at the user usually so the latest purchase is the best with software.
  18. So does this mean in the end we better be prepared for DCS:A10-2, and DCS:BS-3 when ever DCS:"future module" shows up? Well maybe we all had a missconcept about DCS when we thought it would work like MS Flight Simulator Addons.
  19. Not interested anymore in buying the same game all over again. I already made that mistake with FC2.0 and I wont do it again. The DCS Idea did die with this I guess.
  20. That's why in my conrty you are cover by public insurrance while doing first aid...but doing nothing or even just passing by is a punishable act...I have to to first aid training every year including use of defibrilators. Had two occurences for first aid in the ast twelve months in public...usually its not hard to get more helpers...but the one to take the first step is the one that hesitates the most. calling the ambulance get's you out of trouble but is oftennot enough. Well but I guess people are "cheap" in china so nobody bothers much.
  21. sounds like you need to revert the axis for the toebrakes?
  22. Depends on what USS Enterprise you meant...the NCC-1701E USS (United Star Ship) Enterprise stand a good chancen to blow a Startdestroyer out of Space...size does not matter here...see Borg Cube ;)
  23. What I really dislike with DCS: BS and FC2.0 is that you have to quite it to fly another aircaft in the same engine...especially annoying in MP sessions. When I heard of the DCS idea a few years ago I was hoping it would be like kind of FSX approach to integrate simply more addons aircraft into one programm...not having every aircraft in its own simulation programm and having them partially interoperable is a big letdown of the DCS idea.
  24. Laser emitter temperature depends on environment air temperatur. To cool it simly shut it off. At higher temperature the cool down time is significantly longer while overheating in winter is rare. This is simulated accordingly. So simply activate laser only for designating and leave it off the rest of the time, otherwise laser might shut itself off at the most unconvenient moment.
