AGMs constantly miss in Lock Flaming Cliffs 1.1
Prophet_169th replied to Artful's topic in Bugs and Problems
The Vihkirs miss for me, but usually only by a few feet. And not very often. They spiral in flight, so sometimes that last loop causes it to miss it seems. Havent bothered with an A-10 since 1.1, so I cant say with the Mav's. -
It is in the HUD. The box that is over the target you select. If its an enemy, it will have a star below the box.

The AIM-9X, as with the 120C, fins have been reduced I believe to specifically fit in the F22.

In the SMP talk lately, they point to a few things that this chip would help with. If the code was seperated into different threads, like a 2D engine, 3D engine, physics engine, then I can see this product helping a lot. But it will probably be a good few years before we even see this product being marginally used.

Server Crash DXRenderer.dll
Prophet_169th replied to 169th_Helix's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
When I usually get the DXrenderer error it was because my TV doesnt support the default resolution. And it errors immediantly. Just makes no sense that it would error after a while. -
I was going to make a track, but I think ED is well aware of it, especially with the debug server up recently. From what i see, its not necessarily lag. I know that constant X,Y,Z data cant be sent back and forth between server and all clients, would take too much BW. So instead its sent every few seconds or so. And the client should interpolate the data to find position. I think this is where it failing, the software isnt guessing correctly where the plane should be, or heading. Then it gets update, and its wrong, and so you see the stutter.

Thats not a bad suggestion SUB17. It would be just nice if that host could on the fly change the mission. Without exiting. I was on the server earlier, I will check here when I am done posting. But previously the pings were all <300, but it was hard to even lock on someone the lag was bad. Planes were bouncing everywhere. Gonna test around some network settings.

sweet, now trackir needs some, and then if ED would patch 1.1 for us along with the upcoming patch in june...... =)

Another feature new to me . . . .
Prophet_169th replied to britgliderpilot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
EF2000 was a great game. I think its the first flight sim I played online and really really got into. -
It would give much more room in mission building. Nice for BVR A2A missions, to be able to see around your airport, but not very much further. And why doesnt a carrier and airport give AWACS type data at shorter ranges, wouldnt they normally?

TekaTeka, do you understand what the 2 lod lines mean? I am assuming its what model it uses for what distance.

Well I know there was much discussion on this topic. But I dont think it has been fully resolved with the patch. It has been greatly improved. I have only been able to look when I am host. The easiest way is to look from the Ctrl+F4 view on another plane. Especially when taxi'in. And the plane never changes much, but does appear to be contantly warping and changing azimuth within 1-2 of where it actually is. I will see if I can get a track made. Never done one, so it might be a lesson in itself.

Really? in 1.02 it was hard not to get hits with the 120.

Saitek doesnt have 64bit drivers. TIR2 doesnt have 64bit drivers. Cant use Win64 yet. And couldnt you just install the 64bit SF drivers to get it to work?

I have an X45 and asigned to zoom in config. Its twitchy, but thats the X45's fault. Never had it reset though. Doesnt sound like an .lua problem, sounds like something is assigned to the zoom axis.

Hey guys! I just opened new payment system for YOU!
Prophet_169th replied to Eagle Dynamics's topic in Payment and Activation
Wonderful news. I already have it so I wont waste bandwidth. Now you all need to get into HL =) I have a good mission for the SU25T. -
If you re-read what I wrote, I never claimed they scrapped it because it was new. I was just stating it was a new 90nm process, and that it was scrapped because they couldnt get it to work. The reason they couldnt get it to work, is because it IS 90nm. Usually smaller feature size, requires less power so produces less heat. Same power and smaller feature size = bad. But Intel was unable to do this, where as AMD was able to. And the Opteron/Itanium debate is a little misleading. 1. They arent in the same class. Itanium is IA64 code, Opteron is 64x86. Itaniums software has to be re-written, Opteron doesnt. 2. The Itanium isnt really an Intel. It is an HP design. It is the successor the the Alpha. And it is the reason that Intel had to make their 64bit P4's into Hyperthreading and not 64bit. It was part of the contract Intel had with HP. HP couldnt sell any other 64bit processor, and Intel couldnt manufacture any other 64bit processor. I think the contract may be over now though. Havent read anything yet about it. Also of note. It is not just the game that matters. The game may still see increased performance if the OS and any other running application is coded for SMP. If the OS runs on 1 core, and the game runs the other, then there are more clock cycles available, even on that single core the game is running on. And for anyone who cares. Those dual-cores are about the size of a Alpha processor, they are HUGE. Much bigger than 2 P4's. At least from what I have seen on the production line.

Moore's Law, isnt a Law. A Law, is proven to be true. Take the Law of Conservation of Enery. Cant be proven wrong, and makes it a Law. Moore's Law, was mearly a hypothesis, and is obviously being proven wrong. And for the record, Intel scrapped the 4GHz and above processors because it was a new 90nm process, and they couldnt get it to work. Had nothing to do with AMD, had to do with engineering. And that is from an Intel intranet article. Also, Falcon 4 supported SMP. 1 processor would run the campaign, the other the rest. Dual-cores will add performance. But like mentioned, only for games written for it.

I must be doing something wrong too, I cant get much more than 450km/h fully loaded. Maybe I just need to get Tweek to give me some leasons =) The weekend is near....

I am just starting this thread. So I havent read all 3 pages yet. So if it has been mentioned, sorry. For the Su25T, use a linear response curve. You will see a dramatic improvement in take off, and general handling. At least that is my experience. *edit* LOL, looks like this was nailed on the first page.

Same here Moose. I really am waiting for 1.2 and the Ka-50. I hope my support of 1.1 doesnt go un-noticed.

Best new feature for Flaming Cliffs
Prophet_169th replied to Ice's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The new damage models are great. A lot less chance that you get tagged by a wound bird now, since they more often than not blow right up into pieces. And you can definetly tell a splash from a bird thats just limpin. -
ED just needs a merchant account to accept VISA payments. Though from what I have read on the internet, getting one outside the US, is a major PITA. And thanks to the Patriot Act, a US bank cant issue an account without a SSN or TIN. The only acception to that is for religious organizations, but then most banks make that even more of a PITA. And doesnt apply to ED, though some would consider this a religion =) Be assured though, that its aint ED's fault. They could have tested the system first, but then those like me who did get to download, wouldnt have been able to.
