Yeah so something like this that was integrated into the ground crew menu, like removing chocks or ground power. It would be incredibly handy for places like the Heatblur and Shadow Reapers cold war servers. Even something as simple as "Do I need repairs?" with a "Yes" or "No" based on if there are any damages to critical systems.

I am experiencing the same thing, just received my headset today. Honestly the best way I can describe it is when you don't require glasses and you put a set of glasses on from one of your mates who is short sighted. This was just giving me a head ache, like as you described looking through the bottom of the coke bottle. I get this weird wavey spot in the centre, like it's lifting off the screen, like I am staring at a convex image... maybe it has something to do with foveated rendering? Like if I am still and I look dead centre the image is great, but anytime I move my head or the headset shifts a little I feel like throwing up. Mind you I have had a Valve Index for over 4 years and never had an issue. Any help from these issues?

Slew camera for joystick axis (doesn't return to center)
TK-421 replied to TK-421's topic in DCS Core Wish List
All good man, I fly in VR myself, but this comes from trying to get friends into DCS. Not everyone is willing to buy a head tracker for a game they don't even know they will enjoy, yet most people I know already have a game controller. -
Slew camera for joystick axis (doesn't return to center)
TK-421 replied to TK-421's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Again, please read my post, as said in the original "buy a head tracker" is not the point of this submission. Also using the mouse doesn't solve this problem, as the idea is being able to use a game pad only to look around the cockpit, not requiring three hands to complete a task. This is about making it easier for people with just a gamepad to pick up the game and try it. Lowering the barrier to entry to get more players into DCS. -
Can we please add an option under the ground crew menu that asks the crew chief to report on damage to your aircraft? It would need voice lines, something like; "Chief, what's the damage?" And then the crew chief would reply with a basic report on the aircraft status, like eg; "She's all good" "Landing was a little rough, you busted a tyre" "You took some fire, there are holes but the systems look fine" "Systems fine but your hydraulic are shot" "Fuel leak in left wing" If it was something that wasn't pre-recorded or to keep it simple you could say three things; 1. "Everything is fine" (no damage) 2. "You took some damage but all systems operational" (some cosmetic damage but good to fly) 3. "You need repairs" (damage to systems and need repairs) Reason I ask this is that many servers do not allow the F2 external view, so it is near impossible to figure out the damage to your aircraft. Personally I prefer to keep my airframe instead of constantly spawning a new one. Plus it would also negate the need to repair all the time if there was no meaningful damage to the aircraft.

Slew camera for joystick axis (doesn't return to center)
TK-421 posted a topic in DCS Core Wish List
So the only options we have for slewing a camera around the cockpit are either on an axis (XY) that returns to centre or with push buttons like a hat switch that keep where you are looking. After playing around with it for a little while there doesn't seem to be a good native option for camera use. Currently I have the camera mapped to the left stick and the pitch and roll mapped to the right stick. This is super annoying because you need to hold the camera in place with the left stick and then juggle the mouse and click with the right. This method sucks because as soon as you let go of the stick it goes back to centre. The numpad/hat switches are better, because it holds where you are looking, so you can look down at MFDs and take your hands off the view controls to do stuff, however with a gamepad those extra buttons are vital. Also the buttons don't provide a smooth camera. Can we please have a slewable camera that works on joystick axis? Something that doesn't return to centre, and the deflection on the axis is simply how fast it slews. For those about to comment on "get a track IR" please keep to yourself, this is about lowering the barrier to entry for new players. Thanks -
Going to bump this

Howdy, So I was going to put this in the F-16C Wishlist spot but I figure the kneeboard feature in the F-16 would be coming (or is already applied) to some of the other modules. Would it be feasible to have the kneeboard model isolated from the pilot body show function? So leave the kneeboard where it is in game but then hide the rest of the pilot body. You would essentially have a floating kneeboard in this exact spot but an invisible pilot, you would use the same commands but it would just cycle; - no pilot body or kneeboard - kneeboard only - kneeboard and pilot I believe this would benefit the players that prefer not to fly with the pilot body, doing so robs themselves of the incredible feature of having an actual kneeboard that isn't a pop up window which covers a whole portion of your vision. Especially in VR, having a kneeboard by just looking down is phenomenal, but personally, I do not like how much the pilots arms cover the panels, and I can't "lift my arm" like in real life to look under. So I sacrifice the kneeboard for the ability to see the cockpit, which sucks as a compromise. I would imagine those that use hand tracking wouldn't use a pilot body either. Honestly the kneeboard in the F-16 is amazing and I wish all modules had the same. P.S. Credit to Zin Zin for the screenshot...

Radar Elevation axis functionality
TK-421 replied to Zergburger's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I think in this case it would make sense and be in line with existing options. Being able to map the radar elevation to buttons isn't realistic either, but it is an option because some people don't have axis controls like the real aircraft. In this case, most people don't have an axis control that returns to cente, so being able to work with a normal axis would make sense considering the previous options catered to this limitation.- 13 replies

Hey dude great video, was this filmed with the 1.1 or the 1.2 version? I'm really enjoying 1.2, although I'd be curious to know if the flight model was made more realistic or was made easier for people to fly

fixed ABRIS flashes like a strobe - DCS ST
TK-421 replied to Kappa-06MHR's topic in Bugs and Problems
Also going to report that I am having this issue as well. Tried cleaning the FXO and metashaders folder and no change. Really sucks in VR. -
Not that I've seen, the P-51 has been neglected by ED for years. It's a bit sad considering the new WW2 stuff coming.

Hello, I made some custom kneeboards for myself but I can't seem to figure out why these don't show up in game. I've done this a few times before and my old ones still show up. It is only doing this for the most recent ones I created for the P-51, Spitfire and Bf 109. I've attached the folder containing my P-51 kneeboard, for some reason the original blank template I used works but none of the new pages with writing do. I've matched their size and file type but can't figure it out, I am sure it is something simple I am missing. Also I am taking zero credit for any of this, the background pages were used off someone elses and the notes were taken directly out of the WW2 P-51 manual. P-51D.zip

Yeah as I said before the track system is useless, it never plays out exactly what happens, it only tells the A.I. to follow your same movements and tries to replicate it. So while I never got hit by 20mm flak the A.I. version of me did, I when I tried to play it back my plane was shooting at imaginary air targets and couldn't pull out of a dive. It did happen again though on my last play through. You can see the smoke trail of him gaining altitude, he was upside down from the coast. Thanks for the help anyway, I'll run a repair and see if it fixes anything.

Okay so I wasn't entirely sure where to put this but I feel this is most appropriate. So playing through mission 5 of the Blue Nosed Bastard campaign I reached the point where you engage the Bf 109s. I managed to put one on fire, got some good strikes on another etc but there was one in particular where I watched his propeller stop and thought “yep he’s done” and turned off. On the way back I fell victim to the insanely accurate A.I. gunnery and had to ditch (crash) in the water. I was watching my kill feed waiting to see if that Bf 109 I killed the engine on would crash, but he never did. So I pressed F2 and found him… The guy was literally flying in circles with a dead propeller, and I don’t mean circling and losing altitude in a glide, he was just circling with a dead engine and never lost a single foot, or meter in the Germans case. It was like he had some form of invisible thrust that combined with a perfect AoA, he could just stay up there forever, plane shot to pieces and a propeller seized in place. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, I just watched him for a while and he never lost speed or altitude. Then I pressed F2 again… The second Bf 109 I saw shocked me, he was flying UPSIDE DOWN with a dead engine and one landing gear wheel down (or up? In this case). I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, it was insane! As before he seemed to have this invisible thrust and would never lose altitude at all, heck he even gained some altitude at times trying to rejoin formation with the other guy. Then I pressed F2 again… There was another Bf 109 again UPSIDE DOWN with a dead engine (feathering), like the other guy he just kept going, flying gently with never losing speed or altitude! Three Bf 109s in one game that were defying the laws of physics, there is no way in hell anyone, even with the A.I.s perfect flying skills can keep a plane like that in the air. This is absolutely broken! I do not think there is anything wrong with the damage model, but the issue lies with the UFO-like abilities of the A.I. I tried to get a screenshot of all three aircraft but I was playing VR, and every time I pressed 12 it put me to a static object? I did save the track though, which is almost next to useless as it doesn’t exactly replay what happened, but I did manage to capture another upside down Bf 109 which sorta shows what I saw. This guy had a feathered prop and was flying like this for ages. Next time I encounter this I will get more screen shots, I figured out if I just delete the F12 key bind I can take screen shots again, albeit poor quality VR ones. UFO Bf 109.trk

Having situational awareness is always a good thing, and you should be making positive ID on your targets before engaging anyway. However I disagree that there is any added benefit of being able to freely target friendlies in this list. A real CPG would never target friendly callsigns with his weapons armed. A check box in the AH-64 menu that disables this feature for people who do not like it would be a good thing. Heck an even nicer addition would be for the menu to give a bearing and range to all targets in the list for added situational awareness.

This same problem persists for almost all AAA, but I notice it the most when playing WW2 and Helicopters. Some dude with an AK can pull perfect lead and string multiple hits on my chopper at hundreds of meters. They really need to fix the ground fire...

Man I fly in VR so my texture settings are at medium, I can barely read any of the cockpit writing Also this skin pack is another good option! https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3325955/

I came here to agree! There is no logical reason why george would target a positively identified friendly. Turn that feature off completely!

Currently the cockpit textures are tied to the normal texture setting. The terrain textures are separate. This means that if you require the textures lowered to improve performance (especially for VR) you have to sacrifice the ability to read labels and instruments in the cockpit as well. A solution to this issue would be to have the cockpit textures on a different setting much like the terrain textures. The cockpit is the most important part of what the player sees, especially in VR. Your plane's external texture, or the textures of other aircraft and vehicles does not matter as much as the players cockpit. This method would greatly improve the experience for VR uses or those on older systems.
