  1. New update #25 is out, btw. :P --NoJoe
  2. I would venture that the fact the unconventional designs lost out isn't necessarily shady. Part of what these competitions look for is "how confident are we that this company can actually produce this aircraft?". Having a well-established and conventional design removes at least some of the unknowns. "Will it fly? Probably; it shares a common planform with other planes that fly quite well." :) That said, I agree with you that out-of-the-box designs are cool, and I think aircraft need more of them! :) (also sorry, I have no references or links). --NoJoe
  3. As far as I know, it will be a module that has to be bought. Unless you had prepurchased the A-10C beta, in which case you still will get Nevada for free. --NoJoe [EDIT] Haha, quadruple uber sniped.
  4. So... it sounds like markwilliam's questions is whether he can transfer the serial to someone else. Is that possible? I think I remember something about being able to un-associate it from your account, then he should be able to give it to someone else.. Right? Anyone know if there's a way to do that? --NoJoe [EDIT] Oh my gosh I'm dumb, Sephki already answered that one (and included a handy link) hours ago.. never mind. [facepalm]. I'll show myself out. :P

    New 1.2.7 beta

You have to reset the Master Caution with the reset switch located on the center pedestal. :) --NoJoe
  6. Except that Huey flight characteristics are verifiable by the general public. Just go ask a Huey pilot, read the available manuals, etc. One couldn't do this same checking with the F-35. [EDIT] To add, I think it's unfortunate that the work on the DCS F-35 was stopped. I was really looking forward to it, and I agree with SithSpawn in welcoming any and all aircraft to the simulator. If there's one where I think the devs couldn't have enough info to realistically create it, I simply won't purchase it. No need to stop it from being produced, or anything. :) --NoJoe
  7. Heh, I don't know, I think human spaceflight is the most interesting part. After all, part of the point of looking for extrasolar planets today is to possibly move there in a few centuries. It's kinda what we humans do. Always climbing mountains just because we can. However with that said I actually agree. I'd like to see the commercial spaceflight companies take up the torch of human spaceflight, while NASA/Ruscosmos/ESA continue running the robotic science missions that they're good at. I'd rather have the governments doing the science. --NoJoe
  8. It's amazing to me what's going on these days in astro science. It's like sci-fi, but real! First we have new pictures every day from the surface of Mars via Curiousity, now direct images of extrasolar planets. Plus over the last week we got to watch a comet evaporate as it passed close to the sun, and within the next year we should be seeing detailed images of Pluto and Charon...! It's a good time to be alive! :smartass: --NoJoe
  9. Wow, that is CRAZY! I hadn't realized there was video of that incident.. I'm really really glad and amazed that everyone made it safely to the ground! :shocking: --NoJoe
  10. I see our beloved AT-802 in there... :) --NoJoe
  11. Haha, awesome! As an aside, wow that's a lot of nuke craters.. --NoJoe
  12. Every time I feel impatient about the Hornet, I think back to one of Wags' posts where he says: (emphasis mine) http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1750734&postcount=2 Then I feel a little better. :) --NoJoe
  13. Oh sweet, looks like a good improvement!
  14. I'm with Tbag here, I like the visibility of other planes as it is. It's really hard to pick out planes in real life, even when you know where to look for them. 3 miles is about the limit for me to spot another Cessna in the air; any further and there's a good chance I won't be able to find them. For what it's worth. --NoJoe
  15. Haha, that was great! At the bridge scene I was starting to say "No WAY!" as the JDAM looked like it was going to hit the tank.. AND THEN YOU FLEW UNDER THE BRIDGE! :surprise: [fallsoverbackwardinchair] --NoJoe
  16. Well I dunno, it'd be pretty easy to take out a MiG-29 if it were to fly straight and level right in front of the A-10... Same with the SA-10 if it was busy engaging something else or wasn't shooting back. I'd guess it all depends on the situation and how the platforms are employed. I suppose the AI in DCS isn't always the brightest, but some of that can be overcome by using triggers in missions (for example: to simulate a SAM turning on its radar only when the aircraft is within range, instead of just having the radar on all the time as it is by default). --NoJoe
  17. My friends and I have been having lots of fun with StarMade, it's a great game! When I first saw Space Engineers I thought "Wow, it looks like it will be just like StarMade, but with more realistic graphics!". So I'm really interested to see where Space Engineers goes, and how it turns out. So far I really like the ship-building, it's really neat! --NoJoe
  18. I think it's the extra fuel from the fuel pump. The pump supplies more than the engine needs, so extra fuel is routed back to the left main tank. (I think). There are a lot of real-world planes that do this, too. It's the reason why the P-51 manual recommends flying on the left tank first: so there's room for the return fuel. Otherwise you'd overfill the left tank and end up venting fuel overboard. The Cessna 340 has a similar design "feature". ;) --NoJoe [EDIT] Damn, sniped by the man himself!
  19. Same here. Page Up/Page Down used to move the throttle twist grip, but not any more. I haven't checked to see if I can just go in and assign the keys in the options, but that might be a possibility. I just figured it's easy enough to use the mouse. :) --NoJoe
  20. Something about the brown color of that map reminds me of the training range in "A-10 Attack!". Ahhh, memories... :) --NoJoe
  21. Just to make sure the basic operation of the ADF is understood: when the needle points straight up (at 0 degrees) that means the station is directly in front of the aircraft. If it points off to the right (at 90 degrees) that means the station is to the right by 90 degrees. It doesn't mean the station is east necessarily. The ADF instrument gives the direction to the station relative to the aircraft's nose, where 0 is straight ahead, 180 is straight behind, etc. Again, forgive me if you already understand this, I just wanted to make sure. :) I haven't flown the mission you're referring to, so I don't know if it's a bug or not. Cheers, --NoJoe
  22. Wow Bucic, is that ... What is that screen from? Cliffs of Dover? --NoJoe
  23. You could create a new mission, set the sides up so Russia and the US are both on blue team. Then you could have Su-33s flying alongside F-15Cs and such. Go to the Mission Editor, click the button for "New". It then lets you set up the sides ("Coalitions" I think?). I typically do this to put Germany on the Red side when I want to battle the AI FW-190, since Germany is by default on blue and seems to be the only country right now with the FW-190. Anyway, there you go. Hopefully that helps. --NoJoe [EDIT] Damn, sniped by ENO! :P
  24. The Pause key is "F16" on my Apple keyboard, and generally it's the key just above "Page Up". Otherwise you can just click the little "Fly" button in the bottom left of the window when you start a flight. Hope this helps! --NoJoe
  25. It could be that the engine temp isn't yet high enough for it to run well? There's a little placard in the cockpit by the pilot's right elbow that lists engine limits, including minimum coolant and oil temperatures for takeoff. That might explain the coughing engine. --NoJoe
