So I think this is a relative question to the OP point on next generation versus Aero... how is Aero users' current resolution while looking at Instruments and MFDs? I know I struggle with the Pimax 8kx with fuzziness of text prior to latest updates and currently.

Agreed the expense is great but all my past hobbies this one is a little less expensive … I greatly enjoy flying in VR even with the Pimax so as I stated it seems that regardless of the Next Gen headsets coming to market I don’t see ED’s system keeping up with Next Gen features. However with the planned ED improvements and what performance increase we have already seen I think the Aero will stay relevant for a long time… or at least that’s what I’m telling myself to justify this purchase

Glad to hear your opinion. Last year I went with Pimax 8kx because of the backorder time the Aero (which was my first choice) was suffering and Pimax’s trade-in program for future 12kx. After a year of frustrations with Pimax I am done with them and ordering an Aero now after hearing everyone’s opinions over the last few weeks of the great improvements. The Pimax worked well for a month or two but I saw a slow degradation in a variety of features and performance. Now I have to run on 9 axis instead of Lighthouse because the headset is not recognizing the base stations. Support sucks and have no idea what’s happening. I have zero faith in any of their future products and quality control; a gamble I’m not comfortable making. Please correct me if I am wrong but barring a major breakthrough at ED I feel that, given the improvements Aero users are reporting, the Aero may be a headset that will last a very longtime and a worthy investment for DCS. Next Gen headsets will have all sort of cool features but without ED supporting new VR advancements we would be spending our dollars on products that will not work as advertised and will cause frustrations and scorns with ED.

With my decade of experiences on releasing new products to a very passionate and finicky customer based I have sent products out to key industry Youtube and Social media influencers days before release... but this is DCS and "two weeks" rule is always in effect

I heard a guy named Pepe Silvia had zero issues with his Pimax and everything works perfect every time

I am having the same exact issues as well. Figured it was something I was missing a setting or doing it wrong. When things do “correct” itself it does seems much better on performance just like you are seeing. Thank

So now with MT what is everyone trying with settings? I have everything up and running but haven’t messed around with OXRT yet.

I have the same issue when I start Pitool as well until the headset runs through start up. However when I tried to update Pitool and Firmware from V1.0.1.277 and V2.1.255.2002 that is when the headset went into the loop and the power LED flashed red/blue/green and the 10500 warning stayed on. That when the attached link in my previous post was helpful and had to go into CDM and manually add the patch to fix the headset firmware update. Cheers

No worries the rest of your advise was spot on; just my typical bad luck.. defiently not your fault at all. I was just giving people a general heads up on ANY firmware updates the DFU loop pitfalls and what advice/link actually worked because I seemed to try them all. Cheers

Well I tried your link and unfortunately it stuck my 8kx into DFU mode loop; just my typical bad luck. The indication is the LED flickers red/blue/green and gives a 'Fault detection 10500" and what happens is the headset can not install the Firmware because it sticks itself in a "loop" If anyone else ends up having this issue I tried multiple solutions from Pimax support website this is the the instructions that finally helped. BTW the other solutions had me downloading separate "toolkits" that were not helpful. The DFUUpgrade was the only one that worked and are in these instructions. https://support.pimax.com/en/support/solutions/articles/60000815079-hmd-flashes-red-blue-and-green-and-can-t-be-connected Anyways I had to return to the older version of PiTool and Firmware because after a hour+ of getting out of the DFU loop I didn't want to attempt the update again. The older PiTool and Firmware did work for me in MT... of course with the horrible stutter in the menu (I did find it interesting that the IPD adjust didn't function while at the menu screen )

Thanks for all the info gents and ladies... Wish me luck this weekend I've been building my simpit during the updates the past few months and now that I am up and running I am going to fire up the Pimax 8kx tomorrow morning in MT

Wow what a blast from the past. Secret Weapons of Luftwaffe laid the ground work for the many hours I spent playing B-17 Flying Fortress. I lived one year in college by myself and spent lot of time with B-17 and X-Wings. Great Thread BTW

I am getting ready soon to try a one-handed keyboard (liked Razed Tartarus V2 Pro) for my left hand and binding some keys to Fs. I am assuming someone in the Community has attempted this in VR?
