I think people are more frustrated when there is no clarity or time frame. A quarterly dev blog or update would go a log way to show what progress is being made. Or even just a list of "To-Dos" before release with occasional updates so people can get a sense that things are wrapping up and its getting close. But every seems to be posting "soon" and "Finish touches" for months on end. With no frame of reference to what "soon" or "finishing touches" actually mean the community is going to develop different expectations. The ones on the forums are the ones who are getting tired of waiting and came to find an answer, the ones who dont comment are the ones who are ok with waiting a few months longer.

If i remember my development correctly, the F-4E nose was developed from an RF-4C nose suite since they would have needed to lengthen the nose to house the gun and other mechanisms. so outside of a few other differences an unarmed F-4E would be a "decent" substitute for an RF-4C

I like the added AMRAAMs on the pylons

Its all about # of antennas, sensitivity, and filters.

I mean, it was designed and produced before other guidance schemes and before radar guided AAA and SAM threats were considered legitimate. It is an improvement over WW2 methods and could reduce the number of aircraft required to destroy a single target. But yeah its use at the end of its life cycle was not good.

That's not a lot of physical external change to make. I'd say if they can hand jam it at first to make a G then slowly correct it, like one item every other patch we would have a legit AI G in no time.

Sounds like we still need an answer....(Im trying to build some hype for who has gone fastest/highest)

I mean it says MARINES or NAVY on the side thats a dead give away that its not an E model.

It happens every 2 pages. Someone posts a cool F4 forgetting or ignoring this is for F4Es and someone posts "Thats not an E whats it doing here". Just ignore it. I swear I am not trying to be rude, but if you look through the 7 pages there are quite a few repeat topics for; Weapons loadouts, RIO control, F4G, and a few others. Not everyone is going to look though that many pages to see if someone has already asked a question in a forum. And this is the "Pinned Official" post, the people who only mildly care about forums are not going to look much past this post and the other pinned post.

Then request another "Official Livery" thread to be created. No one who is just coming into the forums is going to search through 7 pages of threads (many repeating topics), when they can just post their favorite Phantoms and liveries here on the first page. Or just continue to ignore the USN/USAF/RAF/JASDF/other non E phantoms that show up here.

Who cares? Just ignore them.

Why are you guys so salty about Navy liveries. We aren't getting a navy variant for a while and people still want to fly in their preferred Phantom. To be honest ill probably end up downloading far more Navy/USMC liveries and using those far more often. That being said the Luftwaffe Phantoms still had the superior liveries.

Extremely accurate GPS system, which is why bombs are getting smaller. The probability of impact error is getting so small you dont need the 2K lbs bomb to make up for lost accuracy.

What facts are you getting from a developer who has been radio silent?

I couldn't say how it works, I haven't done any research into the device. But this is all speculation. Until a dev comes out and gives a definitive answer about it we wont know until its here. This is also for the naval variant so years out.

But for something like that where quite a few people just hide the pilot body, its easier to just "eyeball" it so it looks good and then correct the model as more information becomes available. I wouldn't want them to exclude something just because they couldnt find a definitive answer on how long the bracket was or exactly what shade of paint was used. That's a big point of forums to be able to post information the devs might have overlooked to help refine the product.

I am fairly certain the Phantoms were supposed to be interceptors not front line dogfighters. They might have became frontline dogfighters, but the the ROE had allowed pilots to shoot sparrows at range without visually IDing targets, there probably wouldn't have been as many Vietnam Dogfights. I see the VTAS the same was as the HMD in the Hornet. If you want to simulate 2000s combat, turn it on. If you want to simulate desert storm, dont. Its pretty simple.
