OT: Adware on my browser
WhiskeyRomeo replied to Omega Oska's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
A google search turned up an adware/spyware report from http://www.trendmicro.com on Adware-LinkMaker http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/grayware/ve_graywareDetails.asp?GNAME=ADW%5FHYPLINKER%2EL I'm not sure the uninstall instructions in my prevous post above will actually remove all of the problem. A good adware/spyware scan is probably a good idea. -

You're right to be suspicious about what is happening. Check the root of those links being served up for you: http://www.serverlogic3.com/ Look at the VERY BOTTOM of the page for the Uninstall Instructions You might look into getting a copy of the MS AntiSpyware utility. http://www.download.com/Microsoft-Windows-AntiSpyware/3000-8022_4-10353596.html -
Multiple Lock-on installs
WhiskeyRomeo replied to gear_monkey's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It's the base Lock On folder and the name is lockon.bat -all lower case letters- located right next to the LOCKON.EXE. If you're not seeing the .bat part of the file name its because your File Manager isn't setup to show the last part of the file name. If you hover over the file it should tell you its a "MS DOS Batch File" type -
Stuttering 1.1 problems What is going on at ED??

Actually I'm more interested in seeing if I CAN get my system to stutter like the rest of you. Still NO dice! -
Stuttering 1.1 problems What is going on at ED??
WhiskeyRomeo replied to SilentEagle's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I did a low level tour of the Crimea/Caucasus @ 200ft AGL making sure to hit the big towns and a few airfields. No stutters in a server where others were seeing stuttering. Tested this tonight as host (since I can't seem to get stutter working for me) (2) Is the stutter also present when the aircraft are parked on the ramp, not moving, nested in close to one another as they would be while flying formation? Tentative answer is no stutters by the 3 clients in my game when parked very close to each other on ramp. edit: after reading jabog32_zillion's post I went and checked my Lock On\Config\network\config.lua and then my Network options I found I was actually using the 33.6kbps setting. I must not have reset that option when I did my last 1.1 re-install. abog32_zillion may really be onto something here. -
Stuttering 1.1 problems What is going on at ED??
WhiskeyRomeo replied to SilentEagle's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I've done just a little bit of flying as client on Hyperlobby the last couple of nights. I still don't see the stutter myself in formation or low-level flying. I asked around and found a couple of the people who did say they saw stuttering as clients including 1 on the same server I was flying at the time. Another told me he'd seen stutter when flying close to another players plane but not flying close to an AI aircraft (like AR Tanker). My system is nothing spectacular - Dell P4/2.0Ghz, 786Ram, 9600XT/Cat5.2, 768/128 DSL Earthlink/Verizon (ISP/Telco) with a stock 1.1 install over 1.0. I had flown 1.1 over 1.02 previously before doing a re-install. I see people mentioning StarForce as a possible issue. The way I see it if SF is the problem the host should be getting stutter as well plus everyone should be getting stutter in both MP and single player missions. The reason a lot of people might not be seeing/noticing stutter is that the 1.1 MP code changes seem to make the game more stable and run better than 1.02 MP code. Except - it seems by the reports here - close formation flying and low level flying for some people. I ran the tests with Sygate Personal Firewall running with the Logging mode turned on and didn't detect any unexpected network activity (such as SF trying to access the 'Net). SPF has excellent logging options including packet data inspection option. But its the traffic analysis mode that will let you track down and locate any suspect activity - inbound or outbound. A couple ideas came to mind for further troubleshooting to try and isolate what is actually going on: (1) Is the stutter the same over land as it is far out over the water out of sight of land? (2) Is the stutter also present when the aircraft are parked on the ramp, not moving, nested in close to one another as they would be while flying formation? (3) Do the same test as (2) above only test for stutteriing while taxiing. (4) In a server with stuttering formation clients - do the clients also stutter when flying close to AI aircraft (such as IL-78 tanker)? -

I want to change my downloaded Fc1.1 to CD version!!
WhiskeyRomeo replied to kiamia's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Eagle is watching out for you - you already have 15 total authorizations approved. And you won't need to use any of those authorizations for Windows re-installs. Check this thread http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=7874 -
For those that haven't checked the Download sections lately: Makes backing up the right registry key for LockOn super easy. When you use the Lockon_Save_Registry program it will auto-save a new lockon_sf_keys_todays-date.reg file. So when you click on the lockon_sf_keys_.reg file you'll get a Registry Editor key restore notice as in the example above. Nice Touch - Thanks ED!

Computer Reboots with 1.1
WhiskeyRomeo replied to Eisenhorn's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Looks like this is pretty much the everything forum - at least for now - so you're posting in the right place. Have you tried loading different missions files? Same Result? Will you look in the Lock On/Temp folder and find the Errors file and post about the last 10 lines of it here? You can use Notepad to open the file. Also do the same with the System file in the same folder - last 10 lines or so. Maybe someone will see something there, or have an idea on what to have you look for next? -

Stuttering 1.1 problems What is going on at ED??
WhiskeyRomeo replied to SilentEagle's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
There haven't been many complaints yet about stuttering in multiplay. For example; none at all in the Bug Thread - at least not yet. When I used the forum search tool (Advanced Search on stutter in the LockOn EN forums) I only saw 12 topics that had "stutter" in them and one of them was this topic. It can't be a very widespread problem. What I did notice was a couple stutter topics that seemed to have been solved. "Stuttering problems" by 355th_Xantris http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=6279 I also found this note in one thread: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=6047&highlight=stutter Are ALL the Vitural ThunderBirds having the same problem? Or just some? If so you might begin troubleshooting with the things you guys use in common. Comms software? Custom Skins? etc.... Keep us up-to-date on what you find out. -
Man!!! Are the MiG's and Su's fun!!!
WhiskeyRomeo replied to KILSEK's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It was that demo-super-27 track that inspired me to try some of the same type moves in the Su-33. I kinda think they had the G-Effects switch on something other than Realistic in that track! The difference in handling from 1.02 to 1.1 is really noticeable and pretty sweet. When I tried the same type moves I kept getting G-LOC (blackout) with ASC failed and thats when I noticed it was more detailed - blacked out and no flight control or throttle authority until the G-LOC ended. In 1.02 you could still work the controls and roll back the throttle and you couldn't quite reach G-LOC. -

If cost is really an issue - that download copy doesnt need shipping charges. Can't wait to get my 2nd copy and start flying on our home network. -

WhiskeyRomeo replied to KILSEK's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Toss in a programmed ACS failure and have fun. Just watch yourself though... or you're going to see your G-meter look like this screenshot this pretty fassst! (no it's not a night time shot - was at noon just before G-LOC). Has anyone else noticed that when you're G-LOC the controls dont function? Throttle won't change settings, controls dont function, till you come out of G-LOC and the screen isnt all black anymore. Nice touch, but rough on the pilot's ego! -

Not everyone agrees with your opinion - why does that surprise you? I personally don't know of anyone with 1.1 that IS having trouble with it. If you know 16 people that bought 1.1 and ARE having problems as you say -- are you speaking for them? I'd expect they'd have a FEW things to say after all, don't you? Who are they? Have we heard from them already? What problems exactly are they having? I don't know much about Nero software but the only forum thread about it so far that I've seen has been by Ruggbutt who found a work-around to get his system back to running normally. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=7662&highlight=nero Don't expect people that have 1.1 running without problems to share your opinion especially when you have so little to back it up in the way of facts. *shrugs* Facts vs Opinions? -
Starforce does not mess up your PC. Activate the game 5 (now 15?) times? True - some are having problems with activation issues but most are not having that problem and it seems like problems are being handled as the reaons become understood. About 18 pages of posts in the forum since the game came out and most deal with actual game play. We read a lot more posts from people who "know" Starforce causes problems and wont buy the game than we've seen posts by people who actually bought the game and have problems that cant be solved. Merlin isn't living closes to the North Pole and its likely you're probably closer than he is. Stop by Hyperlobby and look around - just recently 6 of 9 servers running were on 1.1. That should tell you something right there.

Disabling the Kill Message?
WhiskeyRomeo replied to 169th_DedCat's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
My own opinion is that this type of message can add in some missing realism from the overall battle management perspective where you ARE getting some similar reports from your wingmen, other squads supporting the mission, AWACS, ABCCC, FAC, TACP etc (although not by the same means or at the same times as the popup kill messages). Voice comms can do a lot to provide that same situational awareness but it's still not quite as "real" as the real thing. Kill messages can add to SA in a busy coop server even beyond good voice comms discipline. But they do distract and in a busy server your hard presssed to maintain good SA. The "kill messages" as a server choice is still a good idea.
